768 readers have visited The Heirs of The Sorceress since Robinwing created it.

Introduction

The Court Sorceress was practically thought of as one of the great knights, in Etlaris. She was great friends with some of them, including the king himself, as close to them as if she'd been their sister. Foreign dignitaries often started their first visits with an attempt to treat her as lesser, because she was a woman, or perhaps because she was a sorceress. Either way, the king, knights, and she herself quickly set them right, and dignitaries often left Etlaris more afreid of that woman than anything else they may have come across. It did not even matter when she was with child, though that did make her a good deal more agreeable. In her lifetime, she bore four girls, and refused to tell anyone who had fathered them. She often teased the king and knights that they couldn't threaten the father, without knowing who he was.

The fourth killed her. In her dying hours, she insisted that the king and her closest friends be allowed to speak to her, so that she could reassure them and plan with them one last time. Plan where her daughters were to go without her, as no one knew who their father was, and who was to raise them. The king offered to take them in, as did the knights, but whoever was decided on never got to house the girls. Weeping over the death of the greatest sorceress of their time, in their hearts, their sister, they went to find the girls, to explain to them that they'd not be seeing their mummy again.

The girls weren't there. Not even the hours old baby. The king and the knights practically turned the castle upside down looking for them, but there was simply no trace.

---

16 years have past since that day. Some knights have completely given up on finding the sorceress' daughters, mourning them along with their mother, some, like the king, have never stopped keeping an eye and an ear open, in the fervent hope that the girls may have survived. They are right to do so. The girls are indeed out there.

The youngest was mistaken for valuables, and stolen by a member of a thieves' guild. She has been raised by the underworld of a distant city.

The second youngest was left for a nunnery orphanage to find.

The second eldest was taken in by an aging wizard.

The eldest has been under the king's nose all her life.

Circumstances, or perhaps destiny, is guiding them all towards the home of their mother. The capital city.

---

Fate has also taken a hand through some of the younger squires. They've heard rumours that the famous court sorceress had children, but the fact that her daughters vanished is not a well known thing. These boys, through some snooping and other methods, have recently learned of it. Eager to test their skills and prove themselves, they have decided to try to find the girls.

Roles:
King: Barendan
Knights (5): Open
Sorceress: Zarania (Will only appear in flashbacks, not romantically interested in any of the knights or the king.)

Squires (4): Leo Caliber, Ceran Cless Kairo Alvain, Ronan Polak, Reserved by Sanctimonia.

Youngest daughter: Christine
Second youngest daughter: Kira
Second oldest daughter: Ava
Oldest daughter: Elsie

((Some notes, the girls all have dark hair, and are all either just arriving in Etlaris or, for the eldest, have always been there. They all have the ability to "move things with their eyes" and a low level of elemental magic, except for the second eldest, whom knows how to properly use her magic. The squires are all between 16 and 20, and are all boys.))

The creak of the door almost sounded loud after sitting, listening to the whispers of a friend at death's door, for hours. It didn't occur to him straight away that there should have been louder sounds within until he'd pushed the door open. Thinking for a moment that they'd hidden themselves, he heard one of the knights behind him call into the room.
"Girls?" He'd asked. No reply came, not even the maid who'd been set to care for them. They'd found her later, locked up and unable to remember anything. After they'd ran through the whole castle haphazardly, organised themselves, then tried frantic searching a second time.
"Saoirse?!" They called.
"Avarisa?!" They shouted.
"Tehayla?!" They cried.
They did not call for the youngest, Ranielle, knowing she would not answer.
None of them answered.

Barendan slowly sat up from where his face had come to rest on the table. He had to pull a piece of paper off his face where it had clung, and pinched the bridge of his nose. That had been years ago, 16 years ago, and he still had the occasional dream. It was one of the few times in his life that he honestly felt useless, when he'd been running through the castle, calling for the girls. He was fairly sure he'd frightened plenty of the servants when he and the knights stampeded by, but it hadn't been enough. The girls had vanished entirely. Barendan stood and looked out the window, at the town and, jut below, the squires practising under one of his knights. He knew some of them didn't believe that the girls could have survived, not without being discovered, ransomed or some sort of indication. It had drove Barendan almost to distraction to think about it. Why? Why had they taken the girls, and given no indication of further action. It made no sense. He turned back from the window, and looked at his desk, covered in documents, a few of which he was fairly sure he'd drooled on, and sighed. Well, there was a kingdom to be run...

---

Elsie skittered through the town, in the shadow of the castle, carefully avoiding spilling the bucket she carried. She stepped out onto the main street, into the throng of people going to and fro. She turned to walk up into the castle's shadow, away from the main gate into the capitol, and started to try her way up. Little taps of her "trick" kept the bucket upright, and the water within from spilling, the head cook would murder her if she tripped and spilt it at all. Of course that was when fate saw fit that, just as the crowd was thinning out, and she could see the servant's entrance, just beyond where there was squire training going on, she'd lose her train of thought, and catch her foot on someone else's leg. She'd gotten distracted by the sight of what she thought she recognised as King Barendan, before he turned away from the window, and now she was just starting to fall. Elsie whipped her head down to look at her bucket, and pulled it out ahead of her with her eyes, keeping it upright. She thumped onto her stomach, but there wasn't a drop of water on the dry ground beneath her. Coughing a bit, she pushed herself back onto her knees with one hand. Once she'd caught her breath, and shook her head back into some semblance of order, she hopped onto her feet, briefly dusting herself off. The bucket would probably have seemed heavy to anyone who lived in that big castle, but helping Uncle Tom out in the forge had given Elsie wiry muscles, and the bucket raised from the ground easily enough.

Chris watched as the clouds slowly rolled by. What Thorin had told her slowly replayed through her mind again.

"We mistook you for valuables, not realizing until we were already far away that you were actually a baby. So, I took you in, raised you as my own. You learned surprisingly fast, and have a knack for our line of work. If you really want answers, I don't have them. Head for the capital. Though, you probably won't be welcome."

Of course she wouldn't. Why would Blood Raven be welcome in any town or city? She smiled at the thought of her trade name. Blood Raven. A scavenger bird, who knew how to wait until the opportune moment, and strike with the most effortless and profitable means. Yes, there was no doubting she was good at what she did, no doubt at all.

Stories of her had quickly flown all the way to the capital, and there were multiple arrest orders for her, but nothing serious. While she stole, she never harmed a living soul. Unless of course they deserved it. Blood Raven had become a hero among people who had been wronged, a loved one killed by some thug. In those ways, she wasn't all bad.

She sighed, Ebony nudging at her. "All right, all right. Fine, you want to go, we'll keep going." She hoisted herself into the saddle, and the horse lumbered on at a repsectable rate. They would reach Elentar, the last town before Eltaris, before sundown.

Re: [OOC] The Heirs of The Sorceress

Cause I forewarned of it taking too long to start and we lost people

Re: [OOC] The Heirs of The Sorceress

Hokay, I can't be the only one sick of waiting, and I think we lost our last squire. Oh well. First post is up!

Re: [OOC] The Heirs of The Sorceress

Probably because I'm Greenwich Mean Time.

EDIT: Some things of note...

The plot is basically figuring out the whos whats whens wheres and whys of the girls' kidnapping, among other things, as well as figuring out if there is a continued danger to them. I've got a pretty good idea of how that went down, but I won't mind player plot twists as long as they're told to me beforehand, in case they drastically clash with something. (I like to be a bit mysterious, just FYI)

Feel free to edit your characters as you see fit, if you feel the need to.

Lastly, it's kind kind of half plotty, half character driven. There's a set situation for how this whole kidnapping played out, but the modern day is mostly character driven, aside from a few interesting moments that will come when they fit in with how the character driven plots are going.

Re: [OOC] The Heirs of The Sorceress

Haha I think it'll be alright

This RP is rather slow as well

Re: [OOC] The Heirs of The Sorceress

I just want to let you know that I'm moving tomorrow and may not be able to post much. I don't know how long I'll be without internet, but I will be able to get on at school. I'm not dropping out because I'm very much in love with this idea, but I may be rather slow.

Re: [OOC] The Heirs of The Sorceress

That's fine, as long as you're still up for it!

Re: [OOC] The Heirs of The Sorceress

Sorry to keep everyone else waiting, its the weekend (finally) I should be able to have the fourth squire up by the end of the night, so sometime within the next 1-7 hours. I'm just having the slightest instance of writers block. Sorry guys.

Re: [OOC] The Heirs of The Sorceress

Ooh, I can't wait! What I really can't wait for is that there's more than one mystery to this. Why were the girls kidnapped? How did the kidnappers do it under everyone's noses? Lastly, who was the girls' father? That's what I'm looking forward to seeing all of you react to and all our characters learn. Can't waaaiiiiit! 8D

Re: [OOC] The Heirs of The Sorceress

I have submitted a sheet for the fourth daughter. Robinwing contacted me. :) Sounds interesting. Can't wait to start this.

Re: [OOC] The Heirs of The Sorceress

Do we absolutely need a fourth daughter? Couldn't we make do?

Re: [OOC] The Heirs of The Sorceress

Okay, so Aixulram can't make it for the final daughter, BUT we do have a fourth squire. So, if anyone knows someone who might want to play the last daughter, could you look them up?

Re: [OOC] The Heirs of The Sorceress

To be a bit more polite the reason why you can't is because everyone else is doing third person, its like a book. How effing annoying is it when third and first person parts mix?

Pretty effing annoying

So please don't do that in this RP

Re: [OOC] The Heirs of The Sorceress

Aiyaa~ I'm all excited. This really has potential to blossom into a great roleplay, Robin, whether you've got plans for the future or it's just character-driven.

What does everyone think of Ceran? I've thought about it and I think instead of asking if first-person is alright, I'll try third like a normal human being. xD For the record, I'm a first-person RPer, so if I find that third isn't sitting well with me, is first-person alright?

Re: [OOC] The Heirs of The Sorceress

I've never managed to see a roleplay all the way through, because everyone stops posting for no particular reason. I think I've just come to accept that happening as just a fact of life. If push comes to shove, I think we'd be able to pull it off without the last squire, I'm hesitant because I know people like to play romantic entanglements, and Barendan is a little old for these girls. XD

Re: [OOC] The Heirs of The Sorceress

Personally I'd say wing it, cause Im sure you noticed most RPs that wait too long lose other players who have already commited

But that's just my experience haha

Re: [OOC] The Heirs of The Sorceress

Well, now we just need one more squire and Aixulram's character, and we're good to go!

Re: [OOC] The Heirs of The Sorceress

Im putting a pic just show what i look like
