History

Dyrmuc is personally sworn to the Night to protect all from Fear. For a while, he escaped his fate and worked for a great and powerful witch. She was evil, and possessed a Crystal Canary. The power of the Crystal Canary was so strong, it was able to absorb his fate. Once it was lost, his fate returned.

Dyrmuc spent a bit guarding Wing City, and even got into a brawl or two at the area. To no avail, his fate claimed him as he strolled down the streets. A town called Verinotte Hollow had opened, and it catered to the supernatural.

Before the gargoyle knew it, his large leathery wings carried him over the Cursed Wood, and into Verinotte Hollow. There he took residency in Tower Tramanto, helping guard the Western Gate.

So begins...

Dyrmuc placed a hand on the table, with a thunk. He turned his golden glowing eyes on the small child, still with a sideways smirk.

Dyrmuc stared sympathetically down on the child. As a guardian, it was his duty to protect from fear.
"What do you fear?" He asked her in his low gravely voice.

Dyrmuc blinked down at the child, for surely she was just that, before slowly turning his head towards Number 12. "Hmm," a contemplative rumble echoed from deep in his throat. He then noticed the man pointed towards him, and the bewildered expression on Irahel's face. Dyrmuc turned back towards Abbie.
"Perhaps this place is not the best for you. Where is your home?"

Dyrmuc blinked and straightened his posture, his face dropping to be expressionless. "Very well, then," he sighed, before his eyes began to glow a brighter yellow. His wings grew, extending, billowing behind him. He was transforming more into his Gargoyle state, acting upon his duty to shroud children from fear. Crouching down, hands flat on the floor between his feet, he popped out his wings. With them, he created a low wall of gray flesh between the rest of the bar and them.
"Fear will not touch what lies beneath my wings," he growled, as he began to morph into stone.

Dyrmuc instantly stopped morphing as his target shifted in size. feeling his flesh ripple as it returned to it's prior state. As the gravity in the bar began to shift, he flicked out his wings, and ascended towards the ceiling. Good thing, too, for the horse had started to-aarrghthat sound was just. Augh!

"Do you ache for companionship?" He inquired, gesturing at Abbie from behind her.

Oh psh, like he cared if Helyn rang. He was not like Irahel, a slave to the witch Helyn. Dyrmuc served her out of whim. He yawned, glancing back towards the horse. He didn't have to go, but he supposed he should.
"Unfortunately," He grumbled, then had an idea.
"Irahel! Give me the stone. I need to make a call."

"Teleportal communicationy thingy," he whispered, himself not knowing the name for this magic. He removed his finger, and leaned over the stone.

I call on you stone,

he spoke into it,
Show me one alone,
Show me one who's fit.
Show me a child,
Show me one in need,
Of a half wild,
Half human steed.

As he finished, a beam of light projected skywards from the stone. As it subsided, it revealed shadows, the shadows were shifting, moving... He peered in closer to see what would be revealed. It was a person, a child, and...it was walking. Walking through...a field?

Spyri
the stone whispered, and the figure disappeared, but the projection became sharper. It was evidently a place...A glen.

Dyrmuc placed the stone back in Irahel's hand. He then began to morph into his true form, his gargoyle form. Wings sprouting to their full size, he realized he would not be able to fit in a few moments. Immediately, he shrunk.

"Best go outdoors first..."

Dyrmuc entered the bar, with a mischievous look in his eye. He looked around real quick-Ah! there she was, and marched towards Helyn. He smiled and waved, "Hey!" slamming his hands on the table and grinning as he approached.

Dyrmuc frowned at the Witch, but bowed his head in a nod, silently turning and walking towards the bar. He glanced at the two twins, who seemed like shady characters, and then at the girl, who seemed extremely innocent. He sighed, cursed the night, and placed himself between the girl and the boys, leaning sideways on the counter grinning at her. He had one ankle kicked behind the other, and wasn't even wearing clothes, but it didn't matter. Dyrmuc had no anatomy. He was a gargoyle.

"Heya!"

Dyrmuc leaned in closer to her with a smirk, and pointed a finger in Helyn's direction for a moment.

"See her over there? Not the big blue woman, the other one?" He snapped his finger back. "That's Helyn."

Dyrmuc gracefully rose from his stool, and followed Tyli across the bar. They made their way towards Helyn and Irahel, who were in a booth all the way over there. Oh look at Irahel, she certainly looks awkward...

Snickering, he shot a quick grin over her shoulder at the witch. Was this what the woman wanted? He had to wonder why, but didn't think much of it as the girl introduced herself to Helyn. Placing a hand on Tyli's shoulder, Dyrmuc grew to be still as a statue, lost in thought.

Dyrmuc slid in next to Irahel, and slapped a grin on his face. His chin rested on the back of his hands, he smirked, and grew still yet again.

Dyrmuc flew over the Maw, black silhouette against the ambient sea of sky. He knew not his destination, not yet, but a whirl of wind caught him on the wing and caused his flight to stumble. The graceful action turned awry, and a tangled lump careened from a cloud, awkward and fumbling in the light. Down down down, he plummeted attempting to catch the air beneath his wings. With a curse, he snapped them out, they ballooned with the force of the fall. It was as if he pulled a parachute, the gargoyle bobbled high in the sky with a sigh of relief. That was close.

Dyrmuc fluttered back to consciousness as the tendrils embraced him, but he chose to remain stone. He had morphed in his fall, into a grotesque flying shape, a forlorn expression carved onto his face.
He touched ground, the crumbly jagged earth of the Maw, so much like his own skin. As the voice again drifted into his mind, his eyes pulsed with light. Two fireflies set in the night, aimed into the darkness as he began to morph. He moved out of necessity only, turning his head to look for the source.

Seeking? Why, he truly had no idea. It was Night, the thing he served, but a thought came to pass in his mind. He wondered, would telepathy work? And asked the darkness through his mind if it also serves the Night.

Dyrmuc pushed open the door to the bar, fingers splayed and teeth bared. He was smirking as usual, a tooth hued bone peeking out from beneathe his curled lip. The gargoyle was not prepared for the spectacle inside, and let the door fall shut behind him in what could have been awe. It was most likely disgust, for what inhabited the bar a the present moment was truly disgusting. Others seemed to think so too, or at least that's what he gathered from the panicked rush of uniform and firearm. Dyrmuc glanced towards the cieling, then to the calm man at the bar, deciding his best action was probably just to climb his way across the bar via cieling, over the chaos. And so he did.
