Description
The Halo are all able to transform between humanoid and dragon at the drop of a hat from birth. While Halo increase in size during the transformation, they do not increase in weight. Rather, the bones hollow out during the transformation to allow the dragon to become airborne. A Halo man in dragon form is about the size of a male lion on average, whereas a Halo woman in dragon form grows to the size of a lioness. Wingspan is anywhere between 12 and 18 feet in adult Halo. A Halo dragon has two clawed feet and two wings with claws attached to allow tree or rock climbing to be integrated with flight.
In humanoid form, Halo women range in height from 5â2â to 5â10â and weigh 110 pounds on average, whereas men range from 5â7â to 6â4â and weigh 135 pounds on average. Ears are humanoid when the Halo are in humanoid form, but they transform to reptilian holes in dragon form. It is the same situation with noses. Halo only have long tapering reptilian tails when they are in dragon form. In humanoid form, they are tailless. As for body hair, it tends to be sparse in humanoid form, but entirely nonexistent in dragon form. Halo reproduce sexually by the union of a man and a woman. However, the women do not give live birth. Rather, they lay a large egg which hatches six months later into a baby Halo if it has been incubated properly. Halo women lay one egg at a time, or two in rare circumstances. Occasionally identical twin babies hatch prematurely from a single egg. Breeding takes place year round. Due to high infant mortality as a result of low technology, the birth rate is high and the average number of children in a family ranges from seven to thirteen.
As for culture, villages are led by a chief and council of elders. The rest of the population are called followers. Most Halo share a similar religion, which is a belief in the Fire God that created their world. One of their many yearly rituals is called the Out-Turning, in which boys who have reached adulthood are turned out of their villages and expected to explore on their own for a few years before settling down in another village. Females always stay in their village of birth. Clothing is an indicator of social status. Those with higher social status, such as elders, wear more skin covering than those of lower status, such as young people. Most followers wear some kind of loincloth and no shoes. The Halo diet is highly varied and omnivorous in nature. The Halo will prepare anything from bugs, slugs, fish, fowl, small mammals, vegetables, roots, shoots, edible leaves, fruits, nuts, and starches to eat, among many things.
