Setting


London 1873...

The king of England has disappeared. Some say he was killed, some say he just abandoned his people. But most people go with this story: After a much consideration Richard IV of England and Duke of the free city of London liberately gave his power and hos position to the Queen of nights, one of the most skilled dark sorceress that England had ever seen. With her grace and might she was about to bring great times to the country and honour and glory for every englishman and englishwoman on Earth... This at least, is what the Queen wants the people to think. This is what she lets the teachers preach in school and the priests shout from the pulpits. Noone was allowed to doubt the glorious reign of the Queen - not in public, not if they want to keep their throuts uncut.

Dark times hold the land in a firm grip. The Queen of nights holds the parliament and the whole governmental machinery in a powerful and cruel grip. Her spies - most of them equipped with the feared flying steambikes that are fast and sometimes even seem invisble. In these times nobody trusts anyone, because anyone could be the enemy.

High taxes and strict laws hold most of the citizens under control, and if anyone still feels as if scepticism was necessary a quick public hanging always will set an example and provide the people with a fresh amount of news and diversion.

The Queen though can not rule alone. She still needs the help of the smart and astonshing handsome Lord Alaric Crawlwood Helion, a skilled master of magic and also chairman of the no-world society.
In this aristocratic society only the most loyal followers of the queen or her intentions are allowed. Aiming for the total domination of Europe and the western world under the Queen and the satanic spirits that she and her devotees call in the secret meetings of the club. IN huge mansiosn they gather to practice their magic and work on their evil plans or call to the demons with bloody rites. After the disappearance of the king and the death of his loyal officers nobody will stop them. But they are always open for new followers on their way to absolute power.


Nobody of the royal guards survived the change of power and the scientific as well as the technical staff had since been forced to serve the Queen or was killed. It is said that some of their dead bodies still hang dangling in the room of darkness inside the Palace. A rumor that has never been proven...
But one man still lives. Prof. Dr.Dr.Dr. Downing Wild Fish Kingsley PhD.MD. With glasses thicker than the wall of the palace, wild grey hair and a seemingly distorted mind, the Queen and her followers assumed him not only harmless but completly nuts and out of use. So Downing survived. The formerly very famous and well-respected scientist and inventer now lives in a small house in London together with his loyal maid maling experiments that mostly just lead to small explosions. His mind obviously waved farewell and left him to be an utterly crazy old grumpy man... or did it?


Some rumors in the city also tell that the famous airship pilot Professor Amon L.C. Rosebush is still alive somewhere and only waiting for a moment to bring the Queen down. But most people still think that he dangles in the room of darkness. Who knows...


Some general things

Steampunk is a storytelling genre that features a mix of craftmanship and technology based on Victorian times (19th century).
It often features technology that doesn’t exist or isn’t used today, especially steam powered tech. That technology is often on a huge scale --> Steamed aircrafts eg. and there is a lot of racing going on.
It also often features Victorianesque class structure, because it’s inspired by the industrialisation era of Britain (though steampunk is, clearly, a lot more fun that its historical equivalent).
And there are lots of Mad Scientists, aircraft pilots etc...Come and join the fun!

This setting is based on a victorian age and a steam-based freakish technology. Apart from the steamtechnology there also exists magic.

Magic works like electricity and has to be produced. In this setting electricity is completly replaced by magic
Magic can be found in stones, spices and other materials in combination with spells. Some magical materials can be bought like eg. bulbs or heaters. But apart from those daily-life gadgets there is also the general white or black magic.
It is not given by birth but must be learned in a long and hard process. Not everything may be solved with magic and not everybody can do magic. It is a thing of talent. Highly advanced magicians and sorcerers are e.g. the Queen of Nights or Richard VI.




Your Character

You can be anything. From the aristocrat and the clergyman over soldiers, spies to the commoners. Be whoever you want to be. But don't produce overpowerful, over perfect characters.
You can join the no-world society or try to survive out there in the city that has eyes.

Special suggestion: Play the new maid in Prof. Dr.Dr.Dr. Downing Wild Fish Kingsley PhD.MD's household. A maid is urgently required.
