Introduction
The Grim Reaper has long been around in the stories of many lands, in many tongues, in many forms. Many believe he is simply a metaphor, but he is more. The Grim Reaper other wise known as Death has a history behind him. Ranging from many Myths and religions, dating centuries back.
Little does the world know that the Reaper must choose a human to take over his job once every 100 years, Also, there is more than one reaper. In actuality there are hundreds of them, all fulfilling the duties of escorting the dead souls to the underworld where they may rest in peace. The Grim Reaper is just the 'ring leader'
With Reapers there are rules. Never tell. Never for personal gain. Never too late. Never seek revenge.A reaper must never tell a human they are a Reaper, a reaper must never kill a human to benefit themselves, and a reaper must never under any circumstance leave a soul to walk the earth. If a soul is left alone and never taken to the Underworld, it will change and become a foul beast that preys on the souls of the living to sustain itself. These beasts are the Keres and are to be killed on sight. Recently there has been an increase of these beasts, causing Reaper Recruitment and Investigation to increase. Any Reaper that breaks one of these Three Rules is banished to the seventh circle of Hell to live forever in Damnation. NEVER seek revenge on another reaper or human. Consequences will be placed into effect if anyone of these rules are broken.
The Powers Of A Reaper:
A Reaper has a small amount of power to help protect itself and souls. The main weapon is it's Scythe which is usually, in the form of a necklace or other garment. A Reaper also has the power to cause seemingly impossible things to happen. Some have caused things from pianos falling on people to trucks exploding. A reaper must use this power with caution and kill only those who are on their list. Finally. a Reaper has the innate ability to heal most wounds, excluding mortal wounds on a person who is Listed.
The Work Of The Reaper:
When a Reaper is not working, they are in a human form and live as a human. Their Scythe turns into a type of jewelry so that they can hide it and their Aura becomes hidden.
When it is time for work to be done a Reaper can will themselves out of hiding their aura and command their weapon into it's natural state. A small parchment will be delivered to the Reaper and this parchment is known as their 'List'. The list of names of people to die, and when they are to die. How they die is entirely up to a Reaper. When a soul is dead the Reaper takes their hand and takes them to the nearest Gate. A gate is a portal in a hidden area through which the dead move to the Underworld under the Protection of Reapers. Humans lack the ability to see Gates and thus they won't bother you.
When you have escorted a person to a gate cross out there name and continue on to the next. When all names are done the parchment will be ready to take back. Head to the nearest human post office and hand the parchment to the workers there. They are not human, but rather demons working with Reapers.
Every 100 years a Reaper is finally allowed to rest and thus must find a trustworthy human to take their place. When this human is found simply impale them with your Scythe. There are a few cases however where the soul the Reaper guides isn't to the Underworld, but to what many call "Heaven" Not only do the Reapers work for the Dark Prince, but they are also Angels of Death.
Familiars:
Your familiar is your guide. It is a spirit that teaches a human how to do the work of a Reaper. They take the forms of an animal, and can telepathically communicate with their Reaper.
Reapers have a spiritual connection with their Familiar, can change their human shape in various ways similar to their Familiar's form. Ergo they will have certain abilities like growing a pair of wings or having enhanced senses. In my characters Case his Familiar is a Raven and he can grow a giant set of Jet black feathery Wings.
Story:
This story takes place with a new group of people who are about to become Reapers. Don't worry about how this happens, in my initial post I'll go through it all so that it's clear.
The story will become clearer into play, but initially it will have to do with the new Reapers learning their gifts, getting used to the lifestyle, ect, ect.
So have fun with it and such.
EDIT: How the Reaper is chosen:
Now the Reapers just don't go and choose a random new Reaper. All people of the world contain a certain Aura. So a specific group are people are born with the Aura destined to be an aura of a Reaper. Once these people are born, they are watched over until they are to be initiated into the ranks of a Reaper. They have near death experiences, unexplained happenings, and fast healing wounds, all of these are the person being protected by the Reaper that will turn them.

Abraxas folds in his feathered black wings, whilst moving his scythe from one hand to the other. He flicks his left wrist and a scroll appears in his hand, unravelling to list the soul he must next reap. The man's name was Robert Fiztpatrick, he was to be killed in ten minutes. Abraxas snaps and an hour glass appears, hanging on a chain attached to the Scythe. He looks at the grains, once the last one fell through to the bottom, Robert Fitzpatrick would be dead.
Abraxas speads his wings once again and jumps off the building he was on, flying to where Robert Fitzpatrick would die. Landing in a nearby alley, he changes to his human form. Walking the rest of the way to the L.O.D (Location of Death) he looks at his watch. Three minutes. He looks up the street and spots his victim, whistling whilst walking to work. With one minute left, Abraxas waves his hand and the beginning of the end for Robert Fitzpatrick begins.
Abraxas watches silently as one of Robert Fitzpatrick's major arteries in his arm gets clipped by a passing biker. He watches as Robert clutches his arm and begins to bleed all over the sidewalk. He watches as Robert bleeds out... and dies. He silently changes over to his reaper form, seemingly disappearing to the naked mortal eye. He twirls his scythe once in his right hand and walks over to the body. Abraxas looks at the body first, feeling remorse and guilt for the man. Then he grips the scythe with both hands and he drives the blade into the body's chest and pulls out the soul of Robert Fitzpatrick. Although his physical body had not been damaged by the blade of the scythe, because the soul was the actual thing getting impaled, Abraxas still closes his eyes before plunging the blade into the body.
Shaking the scythe slightly, the soul of Robert slides off of it. Abraxas watches as the soul gets up off the ground and then he motions for it to follow him. The soul looks at it's previous body, then back to Abraxas. Nodding, the soul begins to follow. Abraxas guides him to the nearest gate and sends him through. He then summons the List and crosses off Robert's name. Abraxas then floats away, continuing on to the next soul he is to reap.

Jeph sighed, gazing towards his dingy, concrete ceiling as he laid on his sofa, which was the only place to sleep in his hovel of a basement that he called home. Boss was lolled out next to his head, basking in the heat of the nearby space heaters. "Well, Boss, I suppose it's 'work' time, right?" Jeph muttered quietly, rolling off the sofa and picking up Boss. With a snap, Jeph changed into the form used as his 'reaper' form, and his scythe, Sig, appeared in his hand. He reached down with his free hand, removing the rolled parchment containing the names of the souls to be reaped. As he scanned this list, Boss made a quick scan of the list, before sending Jeph the thought to choose the one he would find most uncomfortable; Mitch Deprecor. Deprecor was a con man; with his quick wrists and smooth, honeyed tones, Mitch had won a vast majority of the money gullible people gave him. Thusly, he was to descend into the underworld, to be forever tormented. Jeph shuddered at the thought; No one deserves such horrid torture, but this man had unwittingly caused the deaths of many of his victims, and he knew it. To Jeph, this was among the worst thing anyone could ever do, to kill and just brush off the loss of human life as a mere side-effect. Jeph shook his head sadly, tucked the parchment into his sleeeve, and was off.
Mitch grinned, his marks placing their soon-to-be-lost money on the table in front of him. "Now folks, this one's a classic; follow the ball as I move the cups. You guess right, I double your cash. You lose, I take it. It's simple, really; a child could win at this one." Jeph slid behind Mitch, waiting for the most oppurtune moment to strike this man down as he so deserved. Mitch began to slide the cups around, making a great show to avoid the marks' eyes catching him slide the ball under the cup to his sleeve. After he had done so, Jeph twitched his thumb, and Mitch began to convulse, having a massive heart attack on the spot. As he hit the ground, he swept the cups from the table, and the ball rolled out from his sleeve. More disgusted than worried, the people in question gathered their money, as well as any other money he had left in easy reach, and departed. Jeph shook his head sadly, lifting Sig and burying it into the man's chest, removing his spirit. the spirit gazed around confused for a moment, before laying eyes on his corpse, and then Jeph. "You son of a-" Mitch began, before Jeph grabbed him calmly by the 'throat'. "We can go the easy way, where you just accept that it was your time to go, or I can expose you to the burning hatred of all the souls you had caused to depart this world. either way, it ends with you going into that gate. What's it gonna be?" Jeph recited calmly, not looking at the spirit he had in his clutches. Mitch, being unable to respond due to shock, merely held up a single finger to indicate the first option. Jeph nodded solemnly, moving towards the nearest gate available, as indicated by Boss's mental speeches. After throwing Deprecor headlong into the depths of hell, Jeph sighed, moving towards the nearest washroom to change back to his human form. His next mark wasn't due to die for an hour, and Jeph was determined to drink a cup of coffee before he had to continue with his gruesome task. 'MARK OFF HIS NAME' Boss screamed in his head, to which Jeph involuntarily flinched. He took out his pen, and scratched through the name of Mitch Deprecor, before rolling and replacing the parchement in question. Jeph entered the washroom, and slipped into the closest available stall, snapping his fingers and returning back to human form. 'Time for a cuppa. I do so need my alkali buddy, for he makes everything bright and sunny.' Jeph thought wryly, stepping out of the stall fully humanized. He placed his newly-formed goggles back on his head, and made a beeline for the nearest coffee shop, which was clearly mapped out in his mind.

Stepping off the subway, Tonio looked around at the platform then back at his list. His first mark of the day was one eight year old Becky Thates. Shame really, she was still young and innocent, bound for heaven this one (mostly because she hadn't gotten old enough to do anything terrible) but hey, it was a flawed and biased system... but it worked. Three minutes to EDT (estimated time of death). Looking around he saw her, still sucking on her thumb and looking for her inatentive mother to come back from the train map. Decieding that the best way to do this was as quickly and painlessly as possible, he shifted into his reaper form (anyone around was too busy with their own pointless lives to really notice anyway).
As he reformed, his familiar Socrates swopped down into the tunnels making sure to be as prompt and full of himself looking as ever. 'Kill her already, the sooner you get this over with, the sooner you can get back to finding a REAL JOB", squaking the last part. Lately he'd been heckling Tonio about getting something "respectable" and "stable" but given his carefree lifestyle as a street performer, Toni could honestly care less about a "real job". The performing was just a way to make money for his next stop to eat. His JOB was collecting souls now... and honestly, Toni thought that it was just fine.
Drawing his two mini-scythe's from his watch Tonio made ready. three... two... one Little Becky sucked in on her thumb once more, however this time sucking in a piece of hair as well, sucking it down her trachea and into her lung, she coughed and hacked, trying to get it out, making her way to the edge of the train ledge.... and falling down the six feet, her neck broken by the six foot fall. Had she lived, the rest of her life would have been spent as a paralitic, but given the train "happened" to arrive a few minutes early, the wheels rolled over her exposed neck, decapitating and killing the child instantly. "You call THAT as quickly and painlessly as possible" the mouthy owl squaked again. "Well yes.... it's also the only original thing I could come up with on the spot. In retrospect I probably should have gone for a brain anurisim but that takes a while and I fifn't want to do the whole, climb in an ambulance and wait for them to die on the way to the hospital... thing." As soon as the train had passed, screams could be heard throughout the station.
The girls mother screamed "my baby, my baby". Gliding down into the deep depression, Tonio took both of his scythes, sticking them in the little girls body, and puling her soul out as one mightlift up and brush off a fallen child. Pulling the sickles out of the childs chest he said, matter of factly "And that's why you don't suck your thumb in public" he said to the little girl. Holding out his hand, she smiled shyly at him and said "Mommy said not to go with strangers". "Well aren't you a smart little girl" Tonio replied leaning down to her level and bringing his hooded face down to her level. "Does she also tell you not to follow people who offer you candy and toy's?". "Especially not then" Becky responded shaking her whole body in addition to her head. "GOOD" Tonio exclaimed standing up straight "because I don't have either... now come along, or you'll miss the train". Reaching out with one of is robe covered hands, the clown like reaper grasped the little girls hand and lead her down the train tracks, releasing her into the glimmering portal that ran along side it.
Making his way back to the "scene of the crime" Tonio climbed back up onto the platform and reverted to human form. The police had arrived by this time and were questioning everyone at the scene. At least he could take solace in the fact that no one else would be accidentaley dying be train today. He was about to leave the tunnel but a police officer approached him from behind, tapping him on the shoulder. "Excuse me sir did you see what happened here" SEE it, I CAUSED IT. "No, but that does remind me of a funny joke..."

A slender, but well toned and tanned figure, would be in the bushes in front of a local gym doing some landscaping work. This figure was none other then Dante Fitzgerald. His shirt was off to keep him cool in the sun but he wore a red baseball cap to keep both the sun and sweat from his eyes. As he pulled weeds from a few bushes Lou, his familiar that was a Black mamba, slivered up to his arm and started wrapping around Dante's arm.
"Frank Miller, it is soon his time." Lou said to Dante coiling around dante's arm. Dante lifted his arm to look Lou in the eyes and sighed. "Oh, snake how much more must you curse man?" Dante asked feeling ashamed of what he was had to do.
"Enough with the biblical talk Dante you have a job to complete." Lou said slivering up Dante's arm and coiling around his neck loosely making himself comfortable. Dante patted Lou on the head and stood up from the bushes and started un coiling Lou and gently placing him on the ground.
"Frank is inside the gym right now. Don't worry I have about 5 minutes to make sure this man dies." Dante said walking out of the gym's garden and made his way into the building. The front desk woman looked at Dante and smiled.
"Are you done with the Garden outside?" She asked. Dante shook his head but smiled back at her as he kept walking towards the weight room. "No, i'm just getting myself a drink of water real fast and I'll then get my job done." he said. The Front Desk lady nodding and going back to taking calls.
Dante walked up to the door looking into the weight room where Frank Miller and his friends were all doing some bench presses. Dante pulled his scroll out and looked at Franks name. "Well, seems we are being condemned on multiple counts of domestic abuse, Lustfully looking and committing adultery with another woman, and over a thousand counts of pride after bulking up." Dante snapped and the scroll vanished. "Maybe i'll enjoy this Reaping actually." he said.
Dante transformed into his reaper form vanishing from normal human eyes. In his Reaper form Dante grew to an immense size and bulk and actually couldn't fit in the gym without him having to bend over. His scythe was the classic style but weighed close to a ton and was a bit taller then Dante in his reaper form. Once transformed Dante walked over to the three men doing their bench presses. It was now Frank's turn to bench press.
Frank laid down on the colt just below the bar and gripped it with his hands and started lifting the heavy weights. Frank smiled as he seemed to lift the weights with ease. Dante watched and chuckled under his breath as he reached his hand out and pushed the bar down with one finger making it push down against Frank. Frank struggled as the Bar slowly crept down while he was trying to push it up. Dante toying with the man.
"What the Hell is going on? Guys get this thing off of me!" he said as he struggled then the bar slammed against his neck crushing his neck. Frank though was still alive and was chocking. The two other large men tried lifting the bar off Frank but couldn't while Dante pressed his finger against the bar. Frank laid there on the cot chocking under the weights pressure then passed away. The Friends running off to get help.
Dante watched as the two friends ran out the weight room doors. He then looked at Frank and stuck the tip of his large scythe into the man's chest and dragged his soul out with ease. Frank looked at himself and then looked at Dante horrified.
"No, I can't be dead! I refuse to be Dead! Put me back in my Body!" he yelled.
Dante picked the soul up by his head, by justing grasping it in his hand, and lifted Frank in the air. "Through me you go to the grief wracked city; Through me you go to everlasting pain; Through me you go to pass among lost souls." Dante said quoting the Divine Comedy.
Frank started swinging his arms around "Not without a fight!" he yelled even though he was being lifted in the air one handed by Dante. Dante chuckled and threw Frank into the air some then caught him by the neck. "You fool you think you can defeat death? How bad does your pride blind you?" Dante said throwing the man his body phasing thru the wall and hitting the ground. Dante phased thru the wall following after the man he threw. Frank quickly got up and looked at Dante but was suddenly impaled in the chest by Dante's scythe and lifted into the air.
Dante carried Frank like this until he got to a portal and swung his scythe, throwing frank into the Gate. After he did that Dante returned back to his human form. Lou would be close behind and slivered up his pant leg and unto his shoulder.
"Very good Dante now mark the name off the list and lets get back to work." Lou said. Dante nodded as he snapped and had his scroll appear in his hand and marked out Frank's name.
"Frank Miller, it is soon his time." Lou said to Dante coiling around dante's arm. Dante lifted his arm to look Lou in the eyes and sighed. "Oh, snake how much more must you curse man?" Dante asked feeling ashamed of what he was had to do.

Alexia sat on a branch outside of a two storey house watching 15 year old Faye Iech. Pulling out her scroll she noticed that she had 5 minutes until ETD. She was already in her reaper form as, most people wouldn't be found sitting on a branch outside a girls room. Jumping over she moved easily through the closed window where Faye was drinking alcohol on her own. A tinge of guilt went through Alexia as she twisted her hand, the alcohol immediately travelled down the trachea and began to fill her lungs, closing her eyes Alexia turned from the poor girl as she choked to death, Hiro stood behind her, tail between his legs, it was necessary he projected to her and she turned back, removing her scythe she plunged it into the girls body and pulled out her soul,
"I never thought it would happen," Fayes soul said quietly, and Alexia smiled to her comfortingly, placing a soothing hand on her shoulder,
"It was your time sweetie," she said her voice full of remorse as she led the teen to a portal, "At least you're going heavens way, just be good," she said. With one last smile she glided out of the room and out of the house and when she was a block away returned to her human form, scratching off Fayes name she looked to the stars and made a silent prayer that teh girl would find happiness before she began the long jog back to her house with Hiro running faithfully at her side.

Lakota was sitting on the bench watching her next 'victim', as she liked to call it. She didn't like doing this. She infact, hated it with all her heart.
If she still had one left.
But she had to do it. Someone had to and that someone just so happened to be her. But even so, she couldn't stand the sight of the things they became if she didn't do it, and with that she stood up and watched the young man with glazed over eyes.
Turning into her 'Reaper Form', she walked over to the man. He was so full of joy. His eyes were dancing along with the wind and tree's, so hopeful, and he seemed to be waiting for someone. Someone rather important.
She watched as the young man stepped out onto the crosswalk, his umbrella bouncing along with him.
But something off in the distance caught his attention. A truck made a sharp turn and the sound of the horn seemed to slice through the air.
Their was a sudden brake and screech, but the road was slick and the rain was heavy.
With a thud and a few echoed screams, the young man's body lied in the middle of the road.
When people die, You'd think they'd look peaceful right? But they don't. They look dead. Just dead. Not like in the movies. Oh no, not even close. They're radiance was gone and where once stood lively eyes are now empty colors of nothing. Absolutely nothing.
Lifting her scythe, she ripped open his chest and out went his spirit.
His eyes searched wildely for a moment, lost in the haze of the moment and rain pattering the ground. He knew what was behind him but he couldn't stand the thought. So he kept his eyes on Lakota, and Lakota kept her eyes on him.
She didn't smile. She didn't reach her hand out. She merely pointed in the direction of the gates, hoping he'd figure it out.
Lakota hated touching them. It wasn't disgust, nor was it pity. But something about the souls she couldn't stand. Maybe the stab of guilt or maybe their look of fright, But she avoided touching them if she could.
He understood and watched the gate for a moment. He hesitated and kept his ground.
Lakota frowned. "It's alright. You can go."
Her voice seemed to echo. Almost like a projected into some faint whisper of a voice.
He gained some confidence and walked right into it. Smiling a bit, Lakota went back to her human form. Turning away from the gate and to where his still body lay, A crowd was gathering and somewhere there was a girl screaming.
The girl was kneeling next to his body, clutching his coat and sobbing. Lakota winced inside but turned and walked away.
There wasn't anything she could do.
If she still had one left.

Juliet lay on her bed staring at the ceiling. It was almost time. Lucifer, her cat familliar, jumped up next to her, a parchment scroll in his mouth. Juliet eyed it with a worried frown. It was her list for today. Every time she opened the parchment she expected to see her sister's name written in the red ink. Lucifer dropped the scroll oh her chest as it was obvious she wasn't going to take it from him on her own then he batted at her dark hair with his paws to get her attention.
'I know Lu-Lu, I will read it...'
Juliet checked the time. It was getting late, if she didn't hurry up she'd be late too. Slowly she picked up the parchement and unrolled it. There were five names but her sister's wasn't there. Juliet exhaled. She hadn't realized she'd been holding her breath untill then.
'I guess it's time to go then.'
Suddenly much happier Juliet stood at stretched her arms above her head. Her eyes glowed green and her reaper form took shape. She was quite a ghostly reaper but it let her move silently like her familliar. Lucifer looked up at her, his matching bright green eyes full of knowledge. He knew where she was going tonight. In one movement he leapt out the window with Juliet behind him. They moved across the rooftops like shadows. It didn't take long to reach her destination. A girl, about six years old, was running towards the road her mother screaming at her to stop but the girl didn't listen. The car was moving too fast and it was too dark for the driver to see the girl untill it was too late. The breaks screamed as the car wheels skidded on the tarmac but the sound of impact was louder than any other noise. Juliet floated towards where the girl lay broken and bleeding on the road. Her small chest heaved one last time before Juliet placed the point of her scythe at the girls heart and pulled the soul from the body.
'Lucy?'
The girl was terrified and backed away.
'It's ok, i'm here to show you the way.'
Juliet offered out a hand and Lucy seemed to understand. The gate glowed, it only looked this inviting for children, in reality it was much darker. Lucy smiled up at Juliet.
'Tell my mummy i'm sorry I didn't listen but i'm ok so she shouldn't worry.'
'I will.'
Lucy skipped off towards the gate. Juilet watched her go and when the gates closed behind her 'victim' she changed back into her human form. The little girl had reminded her of her sister. It always hurt more. Tears were streaming down her face as she scooped up Lucifer and headed into the nearest coffee shop. The cta looked at her with distain, if cats could even have expressions.
'I know I said i'll quit caffine but I need a coffee. A big one.'
Juliet slumped at a table and waved at the waitress.
'The biggest late you have please.'
Lucifer sat on the table batting Juliet's head. The cold table on her forehead made her feel a little better but she wasn't finished for the night yet. She still had four more names to cross off.

Alexia watched John in disgust, no one desrved this but by god he came close. He had just slapped his wife and she lay sobbing on the floor of their little apartment. He sneered at her and began to eat his chicken, soon his face turned purple as he choked on the single bone that had been left in the chicken. He clutched at his throat and fell off his seat as Alexia watched stoically, Hiro stood beside her, his fur raised as he was still angry at the males mistreatment of his wife. Alexia walked up and ripped his soul from his body. Snarling she pointed at his wife who had crawled over to his body, her tears had increased and she was shaking his lifeless body, "John! John!" She screamed, shaking him. Alexia pointed at her once more,
"look what you lost!" she said her dead voice ringing out, shaking with rage and JOhn watched his distraught wife,
"I didn't think she loved me..." he murmured a tear in his eye,
"No excuse to sin against her," Alexia said, her voice dripping with venom, she pointed at the hellish red gate, "join all the others who ruined anothers life like you did," she commanded and watched as he slowly walked toward eternal damnation. She looked to Hiro and nodded, "That one was easier," she said quietly, "I must be a monster," Hiro came up to her and nudged her hand,
"Your not a monster my heart," he said a doggish smile crossign his muzzle and she returned it with a quivering smile and together they jogged out of the house and two blocks away Alexia returned to human form and crosse the name John Gates, off her list.

Emile pushed himself up off his sofa which had a very large dent in it from the mass of his body. He grabbed his trench coat and threw it on. "You've got a job to do." Craig whispered to him telepathically, and he nodded. The turtle continued to swim around in circles inside it's tank. He picked up the list and looked it up and down. He didn't have a problem with this job, taking peoples lives because the way he looked at it people died everyday, well, he knew why that was now, but that's beside the point. He'd never really be phased by anything and death was just another on of those things that didn't phase him. So, he grabbed his trench coat and then headed down to the L.O.D (Location of Death) and waited outside a McDonalds for an overweight guy by the name of Craig Matthews to step out with Big Mac in hand. He looked at his watch and watched as the seconds ticked away, any second now. A speeding truck, crashed into the side of the fence outside the McDonalds sending railing flying and impaler Craig to the wall behind him. Sturggling to breath became even harder when the big mac he'd been eating assissted in choking him to death. He waited until the victim had taken his finally breath. That was his first original and it was a lot more complex than he intended. He walked over, he didn't want the man to die, he just had to. End of, so he grabbed his sycthe and used it to pull the man's soul from his body. Holding out a single finger and motioning for the man to follow, he led him to the nearest gateway and sent him on his way. One down 4 to go. Busy night but he has nothing else to do, so why not reap people?

Dante sat down at the cafe table looking at his rosary that was wrapped around his right hand. Under his breath he whispered a small pray, he closed his eyes some and sighed. When he opened them he would grab his cup of coffee with his bead covered hand. What am I doing? I was once a man of God I was going to witness new life in people I wanted to teach, now...now all I do is bring death. Dante was thinking to himself.
Lou would be hiding under Dante's red jacket, with a sports team logo on the right side. Lou would be wrapped all around Dante's left arm and stretched far enough out of the jacket sleeve that his head hid under the zipped up chest. "Dante you did good tonight I'm proud of you."
Dante took a sip of his coffee while he mumbled under his breath.
"what was that Dante?" Lou asked not hearing him.
"I killed a woman tonight, Lou."
"you've reaped women before so what?"
Dante put his elbows on the table and cupped his hands over his mouth and closed his eyes. "This woman had her child with her when she died."
Lou tightened his body around Dante's arm "The child witnessed death it is something we all must go though."
Dante would drop one elbow off the table while his other arm hit the table and he covered his eyes when it came back up.
"Damnit, Lou! Stop being so impersonally about all this! Today I stole innocence from a child I took his mother away! I saw only a small reflection of pain I cause every family, which I can only assume is immense!"
"Dante you need to stop beating yourself up about this if you let this continue your only going to wreck yourself emotionally. This is your duty your task Dante a weight you must bare so why not make it as light as possible and forget the faces."
"I chose the hidden form of my scythe to be the rosary around my right hand for a reason. To remind me of who I once was before being a reaper. I pray, Lou, that my heart will break every reaping so that I can tell that even though I do what I must that I do not end up enjoying it that I don't end up loosing my old self like many reapers tend to do."
Lou hissed angrily knowing that he was having no effect in turning Dante into the reaper that he once influenced. But just a little more temptation a little more time and the right choose of words. Then, then Dante might be able to be molded.
Dante sighed as he sat there in the cafe looking into the coffee as he twirled it lightly in his hand.

'You can't sit here and mope all night.'
Lucifer tilted his grey head to one side and watched as Juliet drained the mug of coffee. She was always like this. A caffine addict as a reaper seemed stupid to him, especially as reapers were supposed to be mostly night based. Juliet licked the rim of the mug and sighed.
'I know Lu-Lu and I know I didn't cause that girls death, that one was pre-fated, but it just hurts to take a soul form a child.'
The cat knew that regret was a good thing in a reaper or they tended to go off the rails, turn into something rather more...sinister.
'We have to move. The next subject is a Nancy Cartwright.'
A timer appeared next to Juliet's hand.
'We better hurry.'
She nodded. Lucifer jumped down from the table and padded out the door. Juliet followed, skirting round a man in a red jacket and slipping out onto the street. The coll air hit her instantly and she forgot her troubles. That was something she loved about the night.
'Hey Lu-Lu, after we're done can we go vist Amiee?'
'Sure.'
She smiled and petted the cat.
'Thanks buddy.'
Her eyes glowed and she changed form. There was hardly anyone out at this time so it didn't matter much that she was in a public place.
Nancy was backed up against a wall, her eyes were closed and there was foam coming from her mouth. A needle stuck out of the vein in her left arm. An overdose victim. Juliet sighed. How stupid. People didn't realize how fragile they were and this woman hadn't ever cared. She had two kids back home. A three year old and a one year old, that she had never cared about. They had different fathers and the only thing Nancy had ever given them was neglect. This woman was going straight down. The last grain of sand dropped to the bottom of the hour galss. Juliet swung her scythe and emmbeded it into the womans chest. She wasn't being gentle with this one. The sound of the sould being ripped from the body was sickening. A bad soul. Nancy stared at Juliet, still drugged, untill realization hit.
'NO! Put me back in my body you bitch!.'
Juliet let her scream for a minute before getting bored.
'I've got other people, more worthy of my time, to see tonight. Shut.The.Hell.Up.'
But Nancy wasn't listening. Juliet knew this one was going to be difficult. It took her five minutes to herd to soul through the red gates and shut them behind it. Lucifer dropped the parchment at her feet and she crossed off Nancy Cartwright's name.
'Who's next?'
'Some guy called James Kean. This kill's up to you though.'
JUliet smiled. She'd do something nice. Her home kill's were quite, poetic, she'd like to say. Usually suicide. But with her own flare for the dramamtic mixed in.
'Let's do this then.'

Jeph navigated aroud the patrons of his favorite little cafe, trying to seek out his preferred table. Seeing it was occupied, he chose to stand and wait to see if it's current occupants, a girl and her cat, would be leaving soon. Noticing she checked her watch, which he did not recall her having, Jeph perked up, wondering if this was an indication of her departure. As she rose and walked towards the door, he began weaving towards the now empty table. 'Hmm, wonder what her rush was all about. Eh, none of my business, in any case. Hopefully she's not rushing out to kill someone.' He thought wryly, returning his focus to the menu. A waitress approached, an impatient air about her. "What can I get for you today, sir?" She said, a thinly veiled edge of contempt in her voice. "Well, ma'am, I'll have a large black coffee, a muffin, and a hot plate for my little friend here." Jeph replied, not looking up, and moving his goggles over his eyes whilst indicating Boss. "Sir, we don't heat plates here. Does this look like a restaurant to you?" She smirked, trying to embed her verbal barbs under his skin. "No, but you don't exactly look like a woman, either." He replied smartly, snickering. Jeph was going into caffeine withdrawl, and his jabs would only get steadily more and more mean. The waitress left in a huff, clearly defeated in her verbal sparring. 'That was totally unnecessary, Jeph. You don't understand the whole 'barristas with trenchant tounges' thing, do you?' Boss thought, crawling down Jeph's arm to the table. 'I understand you've been watching too many soap operas, my scaly comrade. She was going to deny you a hot plate, and frankly, that reaping was a bit too close to home for me to stand for that attitude. She had it coming.' Jeph thought back in a snap, his face not betraying his agitation. Mitch had reminded him too much of Clay, who always had a little sleight-of-hand trick or two to show off to Jeph and their friends, and was always making informal bets for cash. Jeph shook his head, watching the barrista approach with his order. "Here you go, sir, enjoy." She said snidely, placing his coffee, muffin, and the plate down. Jeph touched it, and came away with a cold finger. "This isn't a hot plate, you hack." He snapped. "Well, it looked hot to me. I guess it's not exactly hot to you then, huh?" She smirked, taking the plate and putting a hot one down in it's place. "Good to see you again, punk. The courier business going well, or do I need to foot it again?" She replied, tousling his hair lightly. Jeph swatted her hand away, and smirked. "I got it tonight, trust me. Boss here, you'll have to foot his bill for that plate, though." He replied, pointing at Boss as he climbed onto his plate. "His orders are always on the house. You're the one who has to pay." She replied over her shoulder, walking away with a grin. "Oh sure, give the cute one free stuff!" He jokingly yelled as she left.
'Why do you two always do that?' Boss quiered, as Jeph sipped his bitter hell-brew. 'It's a joking thing. She's a good friend.' He thought back. 'Really, then what's her name?' Boss snapped back, sprawling out on his plate. 'Uhhhh, Emily? I dunno. She knows mine, and that's all that matters.' Jeph thought back again, drinking deeply. Boss sighed mentally, and settled comfortably down on the plate. 'Quit judging me, you little punk. I know what you do all day in my shirt.' Jeph snapped, picking apart his muffin and eating portions of it. 'What would that be, hm? Go on, I have no shame.' Boss replied, not moving. 'You sit there and think about Animal Planet all day. Especially that one show, what is it called now, hmmmm.... Oh, those reruns of The Crocodile Hunter.' Jeph thought wryly, eating the last of his muffin and draining his coffee. 'Okay, I do have one shame.' Boss replied. Jeph took his wallet out, and placed the appropriate amount on the table, which a small child came up and promptly took, delivering it to the barrista. "Employing your neice? Are you really that strapped for help here?" He said loudly as she counted the cash. "You gave me too much again, dork. It's like you're trying to pay me into liking you or something." She replied, holding the amount left over out to him. "Keep it; You need to pay that little girl in something more than candy and sleep before school, you know that, right?" He replied, grabbing Boss off the plate and heading for the door. The barrista grinned, handing some ones to her niece as Jeph exited.
"Alrighty, whose next on my list of wonderment?" He said aloud to no one in particular as he reached into his pocket, retreving his list. "Oooh, one Nathaniel Jackobs, due in ten minutes at a nightclub, my choice of death." He said again, glancing at his watch. "If I run, I can make it there in time to maybe catch a set from my loser dj friend." 'You have friends?' Boss thought, smirking mentally. "Ha ha, you think you're soooo funny, don't you, Mr. Irwin?" Jeph replied, pulling his hood over his head, and breaking into a sprint, Boss clinging for dear life to his shoulder. After some time of sprinting, vauling over cars, and general hoodlumness, Jeph arrived at the club. The bouncer, however, believed him to be running from the cops. "Sorry, buddy, I can't let you in. We're at capacity." He replied, folding his arms over his chest. Jeph rolled his still obscured eyes, and copied his gestures. "We both know DJ Epictracks ain't that good, man. Just let me in; I'm his backup, if you will." The bouncer chuckled. "Like I haven't heard that one before. Why should I believe you?" "Has he played the 'Never Gonna Give You Up' mix and dedicated it to one DJ Heathen yet?" The bouncer raised an eyebrow, and uncrossed his arms. "I take it that was you whom he dedicated it to? I thought that groaning was a little suspicious. Go in there and kick him off; I'm sick of 'The best and worst of the eighties'." The bouncer smiled, and stood aside to let him in. "Thankya sir, I owe you one." "Yeah yeah, I'll run you a tab." The bouncer shouted as Jeph strolled into the club. The music was blaringly loud, and abhorrently eighties in style, and Jeph flinched a little. Sneaking into the washroom yet again, Jeph snapped, changed, and stepped out again. He snuck behind the target in question, and waited, counting down the seconds remaining before the man died of a drug overdose. As he convulsed onto the floor, the blood leaving his face and the bile entering his lungs, speeding along his death, Jeph buried his scythe into the man, and extracted his spirit. "Lemme guess, you're the Grim Reaper, here to take me to hell?" He said snidely, dusting nonexsistent dust off himself. "No, you're going to heaven. Besides drugs, you're fairly clean. Clean enough, anyway." Jeph replied in monotone, pointing him towards a shining white gate. "Alright, heaven. Home of the endless taco bar." The man yelled, walking into the gate willingly. Jeph smiled a little, returning to the washroom, reverting and crossing the name off his list. As he left, there was a crowd around the man, a distraction Jeph used to slide into the booth. "Oh god, it's Heathen. Lemme guess, hostile takeover?" The man replied, moving away from the controls. "Yep, you need to be shown how to really perform, my losertastic friend." Jeph shot back, killing the sound to allow the hubub to die down. Once it did, Jeph was gonna let loose; that is, until his next mark was due, in another hour. Jeph always enjoyed the nights when he got a larger amount of time between souls; it allowed him to feel that much more normal.
Ah, last mark of the night Tonio stood at the street-corner in his full reaper form, waiting for the old lady to finally kick it. Ellen Thatcher...After eighty seven years she had lived a fairly good life... just not good enough. Apparently a string of broken hearts and an abandoned infant in her younger years combined with her charity work in her golden days had given her one of those incredibly rare souls bound for limbo... the afterlife's DMV. Personnaly, Tonio would have prefered hell to several centuries of sitting in a giant waiting room and then having your life picked apart and every detail examined for your age x 10 years. But still, it wasn't his decision.
Despite being glad at being finally done for the night, he wasn't too happy about her mode of death. There had been some rain earlier that day offering the typical "slightly wet streets", kindof shiny and wet though your not going to find a puddle anywhere. Apparently, on the crosswalk she was supposed to fall down and (given her arthritis) have severe hip and spinal injuries. The ambulance wouldn't be able to get there in time of course. By the time it did, she would already be dying of severe internal bleeding. Hopefully Toni would get a chance to raid her purse for spare change. However he wanted to glorify it, being a street performer didn't exactly pay the bills and Tonio was, technically, homeless.
3...2...1... With that the old woman slipped on the ground... but it was the wrong way. Instead of falling on her front and breaking her hip, she fell on her back hitting her head. "Huh?!" Looking down at his list he was sure he had the right time, place, description and cause of death. The page specifically said she was to fall head first and break her hip, then her spine. Looking back up, Tonio was even more shocked by what he saw next. An ambulance. There was no way this was happening. How did the guys who write these notes screw up this badly. Rushing twords her, by the time he had gotten to the other end of the crosswalkThey'd already loaded her into the ambulance and were driving away. "OH, shit, shit, shit, fuck, shit, fuck fuck" he repeated over and over to himself panicking at losing the target.
"SOCRATES!" He shouted. "Yes, I'm right here" the snide owl remarked "and you really screwed the pooch on this one kid", "How the HELL was I supposed to know that these notes aren't perfect!" Toni shouted back. "What do you expect the system to be absolutely flawless, as if it were created by some divine perfect being?" "YES!!!" "Well it's not", replying matter of factly yet snide at the same time. The owl turned it's head 360 degrees finding it's master to be utterly useless and finding some sense of aristocratic yet sarcastic shame in it.
Tonio was about to ring the mangy birds gyroscopic neck out but seeing socrates turn gave him an idea. Summoning up a reaper power he hadn't used before Tonio sought the partial form of his familiar. By focusing on the form enough, he felt his intangible form stretch and twist, although he didn't look at himself he knew that his arms were now the wings of aan owl, his feet were now talons, and he was quite certain he could rotate his head all the way around... But most importantly he had a hunters sight. Crumpling his legs and squating down, Toniogave one powerful push straightening his legs out and pumping his arms down. Immediatly being sent twenty feet in the air by this first push, Tonio soared high above the cities buildings. Searching, searching, for that ambulance. After several false leads he found it, almost at the hospital. Dive bombing the ambulance Tonio fazed through the roof and came to rest on the heaving chest of the old woman.
""ELLEN THATCHER" Tonio said in his deep booming voice. Being so close to death the old woman could faintly see him. Death has a way of revealing the true auras of people afterall. Responding in as weak a way as possible she said "margaret jones". WHAT!? Looking down at the old womans silver medical bracelet, he saw that this was true... Not Ellen Thatcher, but Margaret Jones. Groaning silently to himself he realized that the person hadn't been incorrect... the time was.
Flying back as quickly as he could to the LOD he found the old woman already on the ground and hemoraging internally. Reaching in with one of his smaller sickles he yanked out the soul. "DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW ANNOYING IT IS WHEN CLIENTS ARE LATE" he boomed in the face of the old woman still holding her up to just below eye level with his hooks. She was clearly terrified of him but right now he didn't care. He had just spent twenty minutes on a wild goose chase going after the wrong target and he was pissed. "YOU DOOR NOW!" He cried sending the womans soul into the grey portal that was limbo.
Grumbling slightly, he walked several block before reverting back to his human form. Checking his pockets he had one dollar and nineteen cense. Hopefully that was enough for a cup of coffee as he wandered into the local cafe seeking the cheapest meal he could get. Before taking his small cup of coffee and sitting down at a random table, unaware of the rosary wearing reaper who sat at the same table.

Abraxas looked at the last mark of his for the night. The name he saw sent a shiver down death's back itself. Amiee Talford was to die peacefully in a coma. Abraxas recognized that name. He was certain it was a family member of a fellow reaper. Her name was something like Juilet. Sighing slightly, Abraxas walked behind a building and shifter to his reaper form, instantly calling upon his Familiar to give him wings. As he flew to the hospital, Abraxas was debating in his head how to break this to Juilet.
Arriving at the hospital, Abraxas landed on the roof and whistled calling his Familar, Shadow. After Shadow landed on his shoulder, the bird looked at him head cocked. "Go look to make sure she's here." Abraxas told him, and Shadow nodded to him. Understanding. Abraxas waited a minute or so and heard Shadow caw, confirming she was there.
Sensing the aura of another Reaper that Abraxas was sure was Juliet, he perched upon the windowsill of Amiee's room and phased through the window.
Looking at his hour glass, Abraxas counted it down. 'Three, two, one.' Abraxas waved his hand as the last second rolled by, and watched silently as Amiee's heart rate began to flat line. He grasped his scythe and held it there, planted in the ground. He turned to Juliet, "Listen I know you can hear me. I'm leaving it up to you to guide her soul to the other side. She will be happy in Heaven. Say your goodbyes and do it. Don't screw up." he told her. Turning his head to the sound of Shadow tapping on the glass, he turned his head back to Juliet, nodding. "I'm sorry it had to be this way." and with a twirl of his cloak, he was gone leaving behind the faint smell of brimstone.

'No!'
Juliet screamed and clutched at her sister even though she knew it was too late. The soul was standing beside the bed, it's dead eyes wandering. That thing wasn't Amiee, it was a replica, a single piece, and it was as dead as she was. Juliet couldn't stop the tears. The fell onto the bedsheets but she knew they wouldn't do anything. No one could help her sister. She had always prayed that she would never have to see her sister's name written down but she had forgotten that other reapers had the same tasks she did. Who had that reaper even been? He'd been so cold, so unfeeling. Was this how it always was? Amiee had been everything to Juliet, she had been her reason to carry on even after everything that had happened. Without her there was no point. Lucifer dragged his claws down her leg but there was no reaction.
'Juliet! Don't do this! You know if you let go of life the reaper form takes hold!'
His voice was panicked.
'Lucifer, I know what I have to do.'
She would hunt that reaper down and destory him. There would be no way for him to carry on or pass his scythe to another. After she was finished with him, there would be nothing left....

She is planning on getting revenge, Abraxas. Abraxas receives in his head, from his familiar Shadow, who was still at the window sill. His eyes filling with rage, he turned on his heel and reappeared in the hospital room. He swiftly grabbed the soul and gently sent it through the gates to Heaven, knowing it would be complete again there, it was the Will of the Fates. Turning back to Juliet he placed the handle of the scythe behind her neck and pulled her close to him. "Listen here, I know you have lost someone important. But, it is nothing to get all upset over. It is my fucking job to make sure those who are to die, die. Got it? Just because she's gone doesn't mean you can turn around and break the code, and just because I did it quick and got over with it fast. Doesn't mean I'm unfeeling. I could have made it painful and torturous to watch, would you have had enjoyed that more? Get over it. There are Reapers and humans alike that have lost more in a day then you have in your whole pathetic existence. Now, do your fucking job. If you even think of crossing me and the Code again, consider yourself Satan's bitch in the seventh circle of hell." he yelled at her, flames leaping from his eyes. With that, he released his grip from her, and turned again, disappearing into darkness. When he left, he left behind her next list and the smell of brimstone.

Juliet had been terified but what he'd said had been true. The reapers didn't get to pick who lived and who died. If the name was written down then that person had to go, it was the rule, the code.
'I never wanted to be a reaper in the first place!'
Lucifer jumped up onto her lap.
'Stop being so pathetic Juliet, just because your namesake killed herself for no reason doesn't mean you have to.'
He wasn't getting through. The tears were still coming and her mind was slowly slipping.
'Stupid girl.'
The cat raked his claws across Juliet's face leaving three beautiful straight diagonal lines from left to right. Juliet screamed and jumped backwards.
'Why would you do that?'
'It was the only way to get through to you. You're a reaper now act like one. That other reaper's name was Abraxas and he's pretty high up in the food chain, let's not piss him off again please.'
It was blood now, not tears, that ran down Juliet's face but she was glad o0f the pain. Everything Lucifer had said had been right. She had to make peace with herself. Amiee was gone, she couldn't change that.
'You know what I need Lu-Lu? A massive cup of coffee.'
'You've already had one.'
'Another one. Come on, let's go.'
The cat sighed but followed her out the window anyway. If all she needed was a coffee and she'd be back to normal he wouldn't protest.

Alexia had just finished her most peaceful ending when she felt the pull of another Reaper nearby. She was in the hospital and held an elderly mans hand as slipped away in his sleep there was no pleading or begging just thankful acceptance as he went through the gate to heaven where his wife who had died only a few days before met him in a tight embrace. Wiping away a tear she smiled and returned to human form whne she felt something fom the other Reaper, a soul not being moved on. Glancing at Hiro she began springtin through teh halls but her Familiar was in front of her, shouting instructions into her mind.
She arrived at the entrance of a room in time to watch Abraxas, a Reaper Hiro had warned her against a numerous amount of times yell at another woman who had obviously lost a loved one. She watched in silence and once Abraxas was gone she made her way into the room in time to watch the femal Reaper leave, changing back into Reaper form she hurried after her. When she caught up to her she called out, "Hey, stop," and only hoped the other woman would listen.

'Hey, stop!'
Juliet spun on her heel to look for where the voice had come from. Another reaper was closing in on her. Juliet tensed and felt her charm bracelet for her scythe. Lucifer stopped her.
'I think she just wants to talk.'
This pulled Juliet to a halt. She had never had a real conversation with another reaper before and the longest interaction time she'd ever had with one was with that bastard from earlier.
'Can I help you?'
The words had a sharpness to them.

Alexia halted at the harshness of Juliet's tone, "I just... I just wanted to see if you were ok more so than anything else," she stepped closer to Juliet, "I heard what Abraxas said and it must've been hard, to lose a loved one I mean," She continued quietly looking down, she felt her cheeks flush and her dark hair cascaded over her face, looking up at Juliet she smiled slightly, "I know how you feel in a way, my Mother died when I was little and my Father ran away when I was fifteen," she said, sadness tweaking her tone, she moved closer to Juliet and held out a soft hand, carefully putting it on Juliets shoulder, "I'm Alexia and I may be a Reaper but I care, really, I'd like to help you if I can," she offered, flashing Juliet a timid smile. Hiro stood next to her, his tag wagging a little as he gave Juliet a doggish smile.

After his little incident with Juliet, Abraxas thought it would be time for the Reapers in the area to become aquainted. Snapping his fingers and a scroll with a fountain pen appeared. Using a nearby wall for support he writes; "Hello fellow reapers, I feel it is time we all become aqqainted. Meet at the Cafe, you all know the one. If not, contact Jeph. He will help you." Then the scroll burst into flame, sending multiple copies out to nearby Reapers.

Jeph, feeling the new weight of a parchment in his pocket, groaned. 'why does this happen to me all the time?' He thought, whining to Boss as he began wrapping up his set. 'Jeph, you're a reaper. An insomniatic reaper at that. You're going to get parchments at all hours.' Boss replied, climbing down his arm to rest on the controls. Jeph, grinning externally, picked him up and put him back on his arm. 'Jeph, we have to check that parchment out now. It's most likely important.' Boss thought irritably, climbing onto Jeph's neck, which bothered him immensely. 'All right, all right. I'll cut it short. Jeez.' Jeph thought back, also irritated. "Sorry, folks. I have to go keep an appointment with someone important. I know, I know, my friend here is a horrid DJ. Heathen is a man of his word, however, and my very career could be riding on this meeting. Be sure to check out my random guerilla intrusions on the DJs in this town. Heathen OUT!" Jeph said over the mic, giving a mock salute and striding to the door, putting up a relaxed air. In truth, he was freaking out. Jeph believed the parchment was a mass warrant for him to avoid the cafe he frequented altogether. He reached into his pocket, leaned against a brick wall on the outside, and unrolled and read the document in question. "Hello fellow reapers...Meet at the Cafe... Contact Jeph. He will help you." Jeph muttered as he read, before slouching against the wall, a grin breaking out on his face. 'Oh thank god, I hoped I wouldn't have to stop going to that little joint. I simply cannot stand Starbucks coffee anymore. That hack has ruined me.' Jeph thought in relief, chuckling lightly. Boss, not as relieved as Jeph, began crawling into his shirt. 'Go the long way.' He thought, settling into his position he used when Jeph was working. 'The hospital way? You know how much that place creeps me out. I HATE hospitals.' Jeph thought back, apprehensive at the option presented to him.
Ever since Clay's accident, Jeph had been apprehensive of hospitals. Something about the way Clay's body seemed to become more lifeless in the hospital room, before he knew the reason that he knew now, scarred him deeply, on a primal level. Jeph knew now that a reaper had come and taken Clay's soul to wherever he was destined to go. Jeph still held that fear, though, and the suggestion Boss gave him, which he was going to follow anyway, made him all the more nervous. 'It matters not that you hate them, but there might be reapers there who need your help finding the Cafe.' Boss thought back, trying to reason with Jeph. Jeph sighed, and pushed himself off the wall, headed to the hospital in question. 'you are a horrible, horrible little cold-blooded prick, you know that, right?' Jeph thought, approaching the hospital with a leisurely pace, trying to not show the fear he felt at his proximity to the building. 'That's what you tell me all the time. That barrista thinks I'm cute, though.' Boss thought back, crawling from Jeph's shirt to go back to his shoulder. Jeph sighed, feeling a little lightheaded, choosing to sit on a bench near the hospital's entrance. Boss, not concerned at all, merely used this oppurtunity to get comfortable on his shoulder. 'You need to stop being so afraid of hospitals, Jeph. It was Clay's time, and you just need to accept that he needed to go.' Boss thought, trying to goad him into getting off the bench and moving towards the coffee shop. 'It's not one of those things I can just get over, Boss. Clay was like my brother. You're the last thing I have that connects to him, comrade.' Jeph thought back, depressed at the memories flooding back into his mind. Jeph's eyes, undetectable through his goggles, began to mist up, and he hung his head in his hands. "I'm in a sorry state, ain't I? Tormented by the death of my friend, and now I can't even walk near a damn hospital." Jeph muttered aloud, not looking up as he talked.

OOC Notes
There was a note in Tonio's coat pocket. The parchment was a sign of more work to come and he groaned silently as he removed it. He had just gotten off the clock and now they wanted him back on?! Fascists. Pulling out the parchment, Tonio was surprised. No work, just a staff meeting. Well that wasn't so bad. At least he didn't have to go trouncing around at night looking for his next client. And would you look at that! Apparently he was already in the break room.
He did however see a problem with this. Way too public. If he and his fellow reapers were going to disscuss something then they'd need this place cleared out. Thinking for a moment, Tonio decided to cause the TV in the uppermost corner of the cafe to display the weather channel. Apparently a hurricane was coming in and it was coming in fast. Anyone who wanted to get home should get there now.
Of course the weather report was fake but it was a good method for getting everyone out of there... well most of them at least. There were still half a dozen people in the cafe and even if he didn't have a food nose for them, none of them seemed like reapers. Leaving him with the question, how to get the rest of the humans out of the cafe?

Re: [OOC] The Reaping
Gonna just speculate here but this is whaT I think; Just assume that everyone has arrived at the cafe at this point. It looks like half the people in the roleplay have abandoned their characters anyway.
Yeah I know it cuts people out of the process but personally I would like to keep the story going for those who are looking forward to this roleplay and are invested in its development, rather than be stuck in a place that this roleplay is just going to die in.

Re: [OOC] The Reaping
I've come to notice two people have left. The others (excluding Alberio, Heathen, and Rigel) need to post...
Re: [OOC] The Reaping
Oh and I hope that you don't mind that I established limbo as the DMV of the afterlife, I hope that was ok. If not I can always change it.

1. Even though reapers are not allowed to kill, they are only reapers part of the time, so does that mean that if they decide to kill a human for a completely human reason (i.e. murdering him will make my life easier) but not using their reaping powers does that break the code even if that person has their name on the list of another reaper?
2. Although we are not allowed to tell people we are reapers, does that mean we must hide every facet of our existence. i.e. we just transform in a place where normal people can see us and so to them we simply "disappeared". Does that count as revealing our identity because even if people know that we are capable of "turning invisible" or "becoming insubstantial" or something like that, they're not gonna assume right away that we're reapers. So can we not let people know about ANY facet of being reapers and reaper powers or can we just not tell them that we hunt down souls as a public service to the cosmos?
3. I know that reapers are capable of causing statistically improbable things to happen but does this only apply to death and making people die? For example, we are capable of causing flammable materials such as engines to explode or cause winches and whatnot to "break" and make a piano fall on someone or even cause liquids to go down the wrong windpipe or even make sudden medical ailments such a heart attacks or brain aneurysms to occur immediately. But can these powers be used for things other than just killing people? Like maybe causing a lock to break, or a purse strand to snap, or even a gun to jam or something? Cause it seems to me like the reapers have the ability to "cause" things to go wrong and break or something like that.
Well, finally some questions. 1. They are tampering with death, even if the person's name IS on the list. If they are not supposed to die. They should not. Though if they are being killed then they were supposed to die, no? So I'm not really sure if it is or not. Good question though. If you can find a way if this is a violation or not please let me know ^_^
2. You guys shouldn't really go around and be turning into reapers in public places, no. If you've noticed in my posts I've been using alley ways and such to go about turning. Rooftops work as well, ect. But living non reaping souls are not to know that Reapers even exist. No telling someone you are a reaper. No letting someone even think about reapers existing. Though small things may be left behind. Like the smell of brimstone when my char disappears.
3. These powers CAN be used for other things then killing. Like if you want to break into a place, go ahead and break the lock. Or if someone's mugging you go ahead and jam the gun. Really... As long as it isn't tampering or cheating death use it.
Re: [OOC] The Reaping
LOL reaper cafe.
But just a few question about the rules cause I figure these are probably gonna come up eventually.

Re: [OOC] The Reaping
This is good. After everyone posts again, besides Rigel, Echo, and I. I will send out a scroll to all reapers in my next post. We can all meet there. I've been trying to find a place to get us all together anyway. Seems you have helped me Heathen. Thanks ^_^
Re: [OOC] The Reaping
Though off-topic to the main form of discussion now, i.e, the reaper code, it appears the coffee shop Jeph apparently frequents has become a central hub for some characters. I'll just leave that there.
Re: [OOC] The Reaping
You guys must understand this, you cannot not cheat death. You cannot kill a name that isn't on the list @ Echo. If you kill or even attempt to kill Abraxas, the rules of the Reapers will be voided and you will face consequences. You cannot just throw these rules aside. That's why they are there. @ Ryde: As previously stated. Death must not be cheated. If they are on the list. They will die. Or consequences WILL be suffered. I cannot emphasize enough that if you do what you are asking that your character will no longer be able to even interact. Same to you Echo. If either of you break the Reaper code, your characters will be sent to the ninth circle of hell and they WILL suffer there. Please don't break the rules. Echo: Please alter your post so it doesn't void the code, otherwise I will have to ask you to leave this role play. Reaper's are not supposed even supposed to have attachments you guys, your lucky I'm letting it slide. But just for future reference: The Reaper Code: Never tell. Never for personal gain. Never too late. Never seek revenge. A reaper must never tell a human they are a Reaper, a reaper must never kill a human to benefit themselves, and a reaper must never under any circumstance leave a soul to walk the earth. If a soul is left alone and never taken to the Underworld, it will change and become a foul beast that preys on the souls of the living to sustain itself. NEVER seek revenge on other human or Reaper. Consequences will be placed into effect if these rules are broken.
EDIT: Echo I will post, warning your character with mine. About the Reaper Code, and that if she does in fact TRY to even come close to Abraxas with thoughts of harm. He will destroy her.

Re: [OOC] The Reaping
Go talk with Dante he's usually tries to help console people. He was almost a priest
Re: [OOC] The Reaping
Quick question What if a reaper saves a friend from their death? Like the Death is on their list, it's there friend and at the last second when the friend is about to die the Reaper turns to their human form and saves their friend?
Re: [OOC] The Reaping
I have a few plot points coming up Ryde. Not to worry ^_^ In fact, one of our reapers is going to have to reap another. I will PM them when that time comes. It will be an NPC reaper of course.
Re: [OOC] The Reaping
So besides reaping what else does this tale entail? I mean I know these are just intro posts right now but we got to have some sort of plot device moving the story along, eventually were going to run out of different ways people die haha
Re: [OOC] The Reaping
Wow guys. GREAT posts so far. I'm really loving them. We need 2 more people to post I think. EDIT: OK Echo, it's you and then me again.
Re: [OOC] The Reaping
