The Roses protect the city of Linthe with their intimidating nature, their power and their willingness to slaughter anything who disobey the city's laws.

Introduction

Linthe, a large and constantly developed city, which overlooks the small mining town of Borko, just south outside of it's borders. The whole above city is sculpted out of black marble which sparkles in the sunlight, and shows the wealth of the people who live in those wondrous houses. There are many narrow and winding streets, paved so perfectly in basalt which is extracted from the small active volcano just 50 miles south from the city which is then worked into by the mining town.
There are not many trees or flowers in Linthe. There are about three small gardens located throughout the city, but other than that, it is just stone.
The streets are kept clean and tidy to uphold the reputation of the rich. Rich is clean, fancy and tidy. Poor is dirty, simple and messy. The people of above Linthe can be classed as snobby and close-minded. They will not accept anyone from the outside unless they are of high status or wealth. It just shows the ugliness of people, doesn't it?

The palace, which holds the royal family is made from black and white marble with many gold statuettes surrounding the palace. The palace is sitting on top of the small mountain that overlooks the city. The royal family like to honour themselves as gods and so, are treated like gods but without the real generosity of them. The royal family mainly consist of ten family members, at least two of them obviously being a male. The King, and however many sons. If they are to be all male, then they would marry a princess of a neighboring country. If not, they would marry a sister, unless otherwise.
The palace has their own bodyguard system. The Roses. They are the royal guard which protect the palace and the city. They are easily sighted because of their suits. They wear a different colour to their rank. Red being the lowest, black being the highest. They also have a rose tattoo somewhere on their body along with the colour. The colour is also changed when they move up a rank. They are specially trained and would make mince meat out of anyone. In direct conflict of course. The only class possible of escaping from them are bandits and magic users which know the ability to teleport.

Now, the below city is a series of aqueducts which course underneath the city and hold the poorer civilians. Even the middle class, but they live in a better built and lavished section which is closer to the above city. They own many of the shops in the city which sell food, materials and what not to the richer civilians.

The aqueducts are tunnels which block the sunlight and lie infested with rats and other dirty creatures. The aqueducts are also the sewer line and water line, but are better contained.
The poorer civilians of Linthe have built houses in the aqueducts out of mere wood that they were given from the mining town of Borko. They feed on the rats that roam the 'underworld' as they call it, and harvest the plants Nirno, and Floceed that they sell to the richer people which is then made into medicine for a higher price.
Bandits come from Lower Linthe, and since they can blend with the people, they're hard to catch if they're able to go down into the aqueducts.

NATNAT is Linthe's neighbouring city and it's rival. NATNAT is more advanced, but is a smaller city. It lies just north of Linthe, past the active volcano which makes it hard to attack if there ever was a war. The city is made up of tall buildings and the lower city which people can get to through various tunnels that run through the city. The streets are narrow and full of shops which sell basically everything. There is hussle and bussle, people getting to where they want or need to be. The Count's house is the largest and tallest building in the city, literally covering the whole of the city, and he resides up at the top along with his wife and children.

They designed the first sea ship many, many years ago, and are now starting to develop something called an airship using magic. The King of Linthe want's his hands on it after it has been built. He claims that it would be a good trading vessel for the future of Linthe...

Okay, first off.-

-The ranks of Roses go as follows;
Red, Pink, Yellow, Orange, Mint Green, Blue, Purple, White and then Black.

The abilities differ from person to person. But I would like them to have two skills when they are a Red Rose, and then to add another two when they move up a rank. They are not magic users, only highly skilled fighters but even though skills may be magic based, they are not magic. If you see where I'm getting at? They don't recite spells, or use magic potions to help them with a spell, so it is not magic.

The lower ranks are just guards, and they patrol the city and the palace. So basically, the boring jobs. Whilst the higher ranks, Blue, Purple, White and Black, are secret police and spies. They collect information and bring down whoever got away from the lower ranks. They also travel and gather information from other cities for the King. They are the ones who told the King about NATNAT's airship.

There are more lower rank members than there are higher ranks. The Red Roses have more because they are the lowest rank, and that's where trainee's start. The Black Roses have less because by the time someone becomes a Black Rose, they're 30 years old and above, but most of the time 50 and older. So they usually retire after 10 years of being a Black Rose. I'd say there are about 10 Black Roses. There are 25 White Roses, and they are basically second in command to Blacks. So they can also control the lower ranks but need to have permission from Black Roses first.

To move up in rank you need to stick out from the others, and hold a strong sense of honour, pride and show abilities of the rank higher from you. You also need to be on good terms with the Head, which I will be playing.

- I am God, so my words mean law. Understand?
- Please keep it PG13. I don't want any nudity, sex or anything like that thank you. We have children and parents on this site.
- I would like you to post every 2-3 days please. If you are going away for a short period of time. Can you please inform me so that I can issue someone to take over your character for the period of which you are gone. If you are going to leave the roleplay permanently, can you tell me and kill off your character. Unless you would want someone to take it over for you.
- I put comedy into the tags because I like to have a little chuckle every now and then, otherwise it's just boring. So, the funnier, the better.
- I would like to have my characters approved first before you can post. I will read your profile and tell you whether it is in or not. If it isn't and I think that it could do with some minor changes, I will post it back to you and tell you what you will need to change.
- This is optional, but maybe you could make your posts pretty? With a little cherry on top? ;3 It makes the post more flattering. But as I said before, it is optional. Which means, you don't have to do it.
- Right, I tagged this roleplay as 'literate'. People think that literate means writing 6 paragraphs per post, and if you don't, they'll kill yer' mum! THAT IS NOT WHAT LITERATE IS. Literate means being able to write a detailed post which not only describes what your character is doing, their emotions and so on and so forth. But also is able to add to the story. Okay?
But I would like you to write a minimum of one paragraph of 7 lines per post please. It doesn't take much to write detail. And I also want a sample post with your character please.
- Puh-lease! No grammar nazi's or elitists. They annoy me, and quite possible annoy other people. We're here to have fun. We're not in some english camp where you have to spell every word EXACTLY right, otherwise you're out. So please, if you're one of those people, try to keep it to yourself.
- This annoys me to hell and back. Girls, if you are in a towel and a man is in front of you. YOUR TOWEL DOES NOT JUST SUDDENLY FALL OFF. And guys, you're not the most powerfulest, most handsomest, and the most unsociable bastard out there. Those sort of characters are boring, and if I find one, you wont be accepted.
- Now, a lot of people do this. YOU CAN NOT BECOME A MASTER OF ANYTHING WHEN YOU ARE 16 YEARS OLD. Ugh! That annoys me. Be realistic. Yes, even though this is fantasy it does annoy me. You can not become a master of ANYTHING unless you're past 50 years-old and if you've been doing whatever you are doing since you were young. Just no.
- Most of the Knight's are aged 25 and over, because it takes YEARS before you're finally allowed to be called a knight. Younger civilians are allowed to learn from a knight if they let you. But you can not become one of the higher ranked Roses until you are much older. Preferably in your 30's. And most people often have to have second or even third tries before becoming a knight. So I don't want everyone to become one on their first try unless they've trained vigorously.
- DO NOT try to battle against a knight when you're 16 or something, unless you want to be killed. They are specially trained to deal with anyone that challenges them or breaks the law. The only classes that can get away from them are bandits, because they can outrun them and climb up on buildings, and magic users IF they can teleport.
- I would like this to be an adventure roleplay too. Because staying in one place all the time can get a little boring. So, I will be making a map soon of the world with all of it's towns and cities. Perhaps a little help from the users too? :3 If you do, I'll love you foreverrrr! <3

- I have rights to change and add rules as I see fit.

Miles relaxed as the girl moved to go, glad that she hadn't pushed the issue. He didn't mind that her parting words were harsh or that she might consider him rude for evading conversation. He, after all, was not a social butterfly of any kind and didn't mind people's opinion of him. Still, he sensed the presence of an enemy at about just the same time Erin saw it. He whipped around, unable to move fast enough to stop the blade slicing through the woman's arm, but he was able to pull his sword out in time to block the blows of the two men attacking him. As they recovered from his defense, Miles moved in lightning motion to disarm the closest man. The moment he sent the weapon flying, he delivered a swift kick to the chest of weaponless warrior, sending him sprawling onto his back. While he bent over the man, the second fighter came and attempted to attack him from behind. Without turning around, Miles swooped his sword over his shoulder to block the cowardly attack and quickly moved into a roundhouse kick. The man, bigger than the the first one, only staggered a bit but was caught off balance long enough for Miles to throw a quick jab at his throat. He dropped his weapon, clutching his neck and gasping for air when Miles turned and ground a heel into the man on the ground's hand, preventing him from reaching his dagger. Yanking another dagger out of his belt, Miles kept it trained on the man in front of him while he used his sword to guide the other man to the first one, efficiently putting them both vulnerable and before him. Only when he had them subdued did he look up and check to see how the woman was fairing.

((No probs. I like a bit of action))

Erin pushed the man away with her foot, ashamed that she had killed him, but deep down she knew she had no other choice. Biting her bottom lip she turned back to the other Rose, noting the stinging in her arm. She could feel the flow of blood, but she ignored it. She had to help dispatch the other two. That said, she could see that Miles had it fully under control and didn't need her help whatsoever. Allowing herself a moment to breath, she glanced at her arm. The cut was deep, but it was no real threat to her life or more importantly, her swing. She looked down at her already ruined uniform and tore a strip from the bottom. She had several others at home. She pressed the material to her arm, wincing as she did so. She'd be fine, but it didn't stop it from hurting at that moment. But there were other things to worry about. Her attention was returned to Miles, who had turned to face her, after defeating the final man. "Thank you," She said, half smiling at him. "I let my concentration slip. I'm in debt to you." She wondered how many more personal attacks she could take. The strain was starting to show. Perhaps she should go into hiding...No, she could never do that. Eve needed her and she needed Eve.

She was suddenly aware of the feeling of tiredness and she closed her eyes briefly. She needed to get home and get some rest. But she didn't want to, not now. Forcing her eyes open, she nodded once to Miles. "I...I should probably, um, head off." Erin didn't know what else to say. What else could she say? She should just leave. He didn't care. He wasn't bothered. She was just another Rose. No-one really cared if she was perfectly honest. What did it matter? Everything came into question suddenly and she frowned deeply.

Miles, having seen that the girl had held up her own, killing the other man with ease. He wondered if he should have killed the two before him, but he knew it was better to have witnesses for questioning. Still, when he glanced back down, he noticed them both lying still. Checking their pulses, he realized they were dead. Confused, he checked their bodies, finding no evidence of wounds. It must be poison, he thought to himself with a sigh. These criminals may have no scruples, but they sure went out with pride and loyalty. Shaking his head, Miles stood and watched the girl, noticing her steadiness wavering a bit. When she mentioned leaving, he gave her a measured glance. In quick movements, Miles ripped the bottom of his casual shirt off in one, long strip.

"You at least have to bind it...to stop the blood flow," Miles reminded her, not even harshly enough to be considered a light scold. Then, he gripped her arm and began to bind it himself. He tried to be gentle, but from the looks of it, the wound was going to hurt like the dickens anyway. He didn't even ask, which he supposed might have been rude, but Miles wasn't a man of many words anyway. He finished fairly quickly, tying the makeshift bandage off with practiced efficiency. Once he was done with that, Miles carefully met her eyes.

"My name is Miles, a mint green rose," he introduced briskly, "May I help you to where you need to go?"

Erin's instant reaction was to pull her hand away from him, not realising that he was trying to help. She hated anyone touching her as it was; she was so closed to everything and everyone that she wasn't used to it. She most definitely wasn't a social person and she never had been. Once she realised what he was doing, she relaxed slightly, allowing him to tie the strip around her arm. She tensed, wincing, but she was grateful for his help. She doubted that she had the sense to bind it the way he was, not in her current mood. "Thank you," She mumbled, unsure of what to say and unsure of herself. Sure, it was painful, but it would help. Once he was finished, she cradled it with the other arm, not wanting to have it dangling by her side. She'd just have to be careful for now. She was positive that the wound wouldn't have caused any lasting damage. Clearing her throat, she looked up to meet his eyes as he introduced himself. "It's nice to meet you. I'm Erin, a Blue Rose." She introduced, half smiling at him, still a bit on edge. She didn't know this Rose, she didn't know many of them and for some reason she felt self-conscious.

"So, I know you didn't want to talk about it, but what happened to you?" She asked, attempting to make conversation, though it was obviously a strained attempt and the only thing that she could think of. "If you think I'm being nosy then just tell me to get lost!" She said quickly, smiling properly for a change, a beautiful smile, one that lit up her whole face, though it was quick to fade. She was embarrassed and now she knew why...She'd always been a focused person, one who never let her concentration slip and this Rose had seen her steady focus crumble around her, even if it was only for a few mere seconds. Erin was ashamed that she'd allowed her defensives to drop, resulting in her injury...

Will had been able to enter the large crowd largely unnoticed. Most of the people were more interested in the ruined square than some random, slightly bruised boy. He worked through the crowd as quickly as he could, which wasn't actually very fast at all. Just as he thought he was in the clear, Will saw two Roses in and amongst the gathering. What if that Black Rose was able to spread the word? he thought, still a little panicked from the earlier incident. I don't want to be brought in!

Without a second thought, he took a wide berth around the duo and entered the more obscure streets of the Upper City. He wound through the streets, which were slightly narrower than their main counterparts, but not too small for a person to walk through. He walked as quickly, barely noticing as he got closer and closer to the middle-class area of the city.

Will rounded a sharp corner, and stopped in his tracks. Just a few yards in front of him, there were two more Roses. Just back away slowly, he thought as he tried to make as little noise as possible. Unfortunately, fate was not on his side that day. Will heard a loud crunch as he put his foot down. He had trodden an a shard of glass, left behind by a litterer. He once again froze in place, hoping the two agents didn't hear him.

((In case it wasn't clear, the Roses he just encountered were Miles and Erin.))

Miriel narrowed her eyes as Egan managed to dodge most of her attacks and jump backwards in the moment she was off balance. Continuing to speak in a melodic yet slightly sarcastic tone she said to him. "So what is it this time Egan, another rebellion that will end with hundreds of innocents dead?" She had to admit that even she had been irritated by that many needless deaths. Not for those that died of course, but simply because it had hurt the cities health, it had stopped the rebellion yes, but it had generated a lot of resentment that had only just died down. There had been more small crimes committed, even a few angry mobs that had resulted with even more dead. She then continued, glancing at the section they were in. "Or perhaps you want to train your own little band of renegade mages."

After her little extra bit of speech, hoping she had managed to strike a nerve she struck again, this time lunging in and going into a complicated and rather long routine that was pretty much entirely offensive, Targeting his arms and hands mostly, and a few times at his neck and chest. Although there was always room to improvise and change it into something she could block with. She fleetingly wished she had enough time to look around for whatever animal he was using to see, it was probably within sight considering he managed to dodge most of the opening attack, unfortunately if she looked away he would probably get the chance to kill or severely injure her.

"I..." Miles had opened his mouth to respond, trying to think of some excuse for being out and angry, but a strange sound interrupted his train of thought. Grateful for the distraction, Miles glanced in the direction of the sound and caught sight of a blonde-haired, blue-eyed boy who seemed to be about a decade younger than Miles himself. The boy looked nervous, almost terrified, in fact, and Miles wondered why the sight of two Roses left someone feeling scared. Because he probably did something wrong, Miles inner voice thought.

"Can I help you, sir?" Miles asked gruffly, his voice betraying no suspicion whatsoever. In fact, he tried to sound as friendly as possible, though he wasn't generally a very friendly person in the first place.

Egan put a good 20ft of distance between him and the rose, his protective column of air formed a figure 8 around them, and his tornado stayed at his side as he ran. "So what is it this time Egan, another rebellion that will end with hundreds of innocents dead?" the rose said in a taunting tone. The words pierced him more deeply then did her blade a few seconds before when she made a gash in his arm. His heart jumped and despite himself he stopped running. The voices and stray images of his comrades who had been executed, and who's bodies were left to hang for a time by the sewage section of the aqueducts as an example to others, flooded his memories. Their hopeful comments about their children maybe being able to have a better life, and their promise to never stop fighting no matter what happens, were more then enough to bathe him in sorrow. For a mere moment Egan was almost tempted to stand their, and let this weed end it all. No! That would be selfish, the only thing he could do now was see to it that their sacrifice wasn't in vain. Anger swelled in him, it was as if he had a typhoon raging inside of him.

"Or perhaps you want to train your own little band of renegade mages." Egan smirked, this weed did have some brains on her, there was a reason magic was kept to the upper classes. That would be the king's worst nightmare 5 or 6 Egans. Egan let out a gasp when he realized she succeeded in distracting him, she was on him! He saw her coming with Onyx's eyes, but a it was all to late, she made for his hand that held onto the kite's string, and he barely had time to spin around and protect it with his shoulder, which received a deep cut. He would have lost his arm if he were not in the middle of casting his spell, right as the blade entered his flesh, he sent her back with a gust of wind. The adrenaline was pumping through his veins, his heart was pounding, now it was he who went on the offensive. "You confuse the cause with the effect! So long as innocence is killed at the whims of a tyrant there will be rebellion!" He yelled furiously at the same as he sicked the whirlwind on her, it blew some books this way and that, as it rampaged towards her.

Egan ran across through the long corridors of books, fast as he could, he almost tripped on a thick volume which had been left on the floor. He concentrated on the tornado that chased the rose, making certain that it was keeping it's pursuit, as he put as much distance between himself and the rose. His heart sank when he heard the double doors of the library open, who ever was at the entrance was prudent, they did not come in loudly, he was lucky to have the soft creek of the door. Egan waited patiently for the figure to come into Onyx's view. He wasn't surprised to see it was another rose, this one was a muscular figure. What you'd expect a rose to look like, as oppose to the slender hellcat he was currently battling. He was starting to get nervous he was wounded after all but he was much relieved to note that this wasn't a black rose, though he couldn't tell what rank he was specifically as owl eyes saw color in a different manner then humans, Egan could never make the full distinction and in fact had made the dire mistake of confusing a black rose for a purple one once, as both their clothes are darker then the others.. He feared for Onyx now, it was time to leave, he had neared the backroom exit of the library and Onyx's current perch, it didn't escape his notice that he was by the advanced wind section of the library, but he'd have to go without even a superficial search for "Ventus Core". He began summoning his figure 8 column of air back towards him to form a protective circle, in preparation for his escape, and the chase he'll undoubtedly have to endure.

((I am of course talking about Kenneth))

Her blade being thrown backwards put Miriel off balance for just long enough that the cyclone managed to pick her up, a few books inflicting a bruise or two on her legs and arms. she quickly concentrated on using her control on gravity to make herself light as a feather, making herself so light that the cyclone sent her to the ceiling, unfortunately this slammed her up against the ceiling, giving her back something to think about but at least she was out of the cyclone, she quickly pushed off towards the direction she had seen egan run after he saw kenneth, landing in a forward somersault, before letting gravity have its say again. "I really need to get something that has anti-magic, perhaps my swords." she muttered as she set off, she would have had him if he had not managed to repel her sword, and her back was aching quite a bit from when she was slammed up against the ceiling. It was her own fault for reducing gravity just a little too much of course, but still. She could not actually afford to get anti-magic swords of course, even though she had a LOT saved up due to her lack of actual friends and pay as a black rose, that would be prohibitively expensive. Actually, such blades would probably bankrupt the kingdom, but she was allowed to wish.

Finaly arriving at the exit, hopefully kenneth in tow behind her, she did not actually look as she was not aware he was there. She saw egan making his escape, just as he finished the figure eight shield of air surrounding him. This time she stayed silent, simply looking at and around him him for whatever object he was using to see, she would be able to catch up after he decided to actually leave the library. She then stared at him, responding to his words before. "Oh really, I think it is you who confuses a cause and effect. You start a rebellion good at disappearing into the woodworks, the king gets desperate and starts killing innocents. It was hardly a whim, yours was the first rebellion in a thousand years to get that bad, and believe me, there have not been that many. Is the king a tyrant? Perhaps, that being said dynasties change, within a century there will be a good and benevolent king. All a rebellion will succeed in doing is put yet another tyrant on the throne. That is what rebellions do, they overthrow the current government to set up their own, their government invariably ends up to be just as flawed or worse then the one they set out to destroy." She then did something that some would probably consider foolish considering who Egan was, she laughed at him, a musical mocking laugh that rang throughout the library, echoing off the walls. she then continued. "Even if you succeed, in the end you will find that you have failed." She stated simply, a mocking smile still on her face as she watched him, still looking for his sight vessel. That figure eight shield looked like it might be a good idea to stay away for a bit

Erin tensed at the noise, before turning quickly on the spot to face whoever it was. She was jumpy and on edge, from fear of another attack on them. She didn't want to be taken by surprise and so her good hand remained on the hilt of her sword. Quickly, she scanned Will with cold, harsh eyes and opened her mouth to speak, but Miles beat her to it. Instead, she simply stood watching the interaction, ready to go if needed be. Although Miles' voice was gruff, he was trying to be as friendl as possible, which wasn't the approach that Erin had in mind. She would have preferred pressed a blade to his neck and demanding information from him that way.

It seemed as though Erin was an evil person, but it was more the fact that she had trust issues. She trusted no-one. It had always been that way. She had no reason to trust. And this one looked more than slightly guilty. She wouldn't hesitate to take him down if she needed, if he was a threat to anyone. Her injured arm throbbed painfully, but that wouldn't stop her in a fight. Her eyes narrowed as she watched....

Will's heart jumped a little when the Roses noticed him, but he was relieved when they didn't make accusations. The adrenaline rush from the heat of battle had started to wear off, and the teen could think more clearly. There's no way they could know what happened, he reasoned, straightening up. Still, it wasn't a good idea to get on the bad side of a Rose, let alone two! I'll have to be careful about what I say, Will thought as he prepared to speak.

"No, I'm fine, sir," he said as confidently as he could, which wasn't very much at all. "I just took a wrong turn."

He was irritated with a how quickly she managed to keep up despite being chased by the tornado. Egan blamed only himself, had he not been distracted by the astronomical miracle of finding 'Ventus Core' with out effort, he might have been able to carry her in it. When the force of it caused her to smack her back hard on the ceiling, he was excited about the prospect of having disabled her for further combat, this would have guaranteed his perfect escape. She had made a graceful landing, and he noted again that she seemed to be lighter at times more then others. If he played his cards right he would use this her skill to his advantage, after all being a feather weight can prove disastrous in a strong gust. He could hear the quick pitter-patter of the other rose's footsteps as he scrambled to catch up to the higher ranking officer. He disengaged the tornado it's purpose as a distraction now redundant. He caused it to slow so that it was just a mass of circulating air much like his figure 8 that he had now given the shape of a protective circle, people who were completely ignorant of magic might assume that it had dissipated. He inched his former tornado closer to the lone torch, trying to keep his hand movements to subtle to be seen, not that it would be difficult in the dim light, he imagined he appeared as a silhouette to them.

His plan to get Onyx safely near him was finally in place he wasn't going to waste a single precious second, then she spoke once again. Perhaps, that being said dynasties change, within a century there will be a good and benevolent king." It was at this point that Egan stopped listening to what she was saying he was furious for the personal statements, but also a little shocked at her utter detachment from reality so much so, that it even overpowered his anger. He couldn't help but to give out a loud chuckle at her commentary, he then piped in but was not foolish to drop his guard this time around. "Do you really believe these lies or are you just trying to sell me some snake oil? There was no rebellion before mine? I've got to be honest with you...mam," he said the word mam with a mocking tone. "I don't know how you made it to black rose. Every night there is a rebellion, bandits hit up shops daily, the aqueducts survives on the underground economy they provide. Linthe has had to increase it's number of roses, and not to mention triple the regular guard, this put a strain on the taxpayers, this city is slowly crumbling. I know it's not neatly rapped up under the banner rebellion, but I would think you didn't need everything pointed out for you, by a low class rebel." He tensed his grip on the kite string, he never lost his focus on Onyx's vision, nor did he miss a single sound, he feared that last comment was enough to make her strike. "As for governments you can't even begin to imagine...You keep your mind narrowed on a sole governing king who is above the laws he makes, I agree that's a recipe for a tyrant, bet you've never heard of such a thing as a king being subject to his own laws, nor a kingdom being co-ruled by body chosen by the people, a parliament in other words? There are ideas crazier still, democracies, republics! Nah but they don't have books like that here in Linthe do they?" He was shocked with himself this wasn't the time nor the place to talk of politics, and this information would be better absorbed by the walls then roses he figured. He took advantage of the distraction his speech provided and blew out the torch with what became a tornado once again. They were shrouded in darkness. "Onyx!" he called out, while extending his circle towards them, it hit them with a blast of wind. This afforded the owl cover to land safely on his shoulder. He opened the back door and ran out into the city.

Miles raised a brow at the younger boy's change in attitude. He was certain that, just a moment ago, he'd been scared out of wits. Now, he exuded a confidence that didn't quite fit the original situation. Suspicious, he looked over the unknown figure once again before speaking. He may not have a good reason to suspect him of something, but he would watch carefully for any other clues.

"Are you sure?" he pushed gently, not quite managing a smile, "You seemed...well, nervous. Is somebody following you? Do you think you are in any danger?" Miles glanced sideways at Erin. He was pretty sure that if anything happened, she would be the first to jump, and he hoped it wasn't necessary, on both their parts. An injured person need not exert themselves, and Miles, himself, didn't want to come to any combat. After that last battle , he wasn't really in the mood for it, not that anyone could ever be in the mood to just go and beat people, sometimes kill them.

Will was a little startled by the Rose's response. I guess he didn't really buy it, he though as his mind whirred to solve the problem. I suppose it couldn't hurt to tell him a bit about the library.

"Well, there was a crowd in the library plaza when I passed by. Something might have happened there," Will said, hoping the Rose wouldn't pry further.

Miles watched the boy with a frown. If that was true, then there would just be more dramatics to deal with, which he hated. Sighing, Miles turned to Erin and looked her over. She was a bit worse for wear after all, so nobody could blame him for not going to the plaza after receiving the information. Still...

"Are there any Roses there?" Miles asked, eying the boy with exasperation. He had just wanted to visit his old home and stay out of the action for the day, but he'd already fallen into two conflicts, and he may have to go seek out a third. Today was turning out to be an awful day.

Erin listened silently, with interest, her eyes still narrowed at the one she didn't trust. However, her hand had relaxed its grip on the hilt of her sword, but only slightly. Otherwise, she was still tense and ready for action. She frowned at his words. Was he simply trying to get them to leave him alone by feeding them lies? No, there was something sincere in his voice. Before she could react to what was said, Miles had turned to look at her, stopping any words before she could even form them. Something in his look made her frown further and she realised that he wasn't going to go after the problem if he could help it. Well, she couldn't have that! They should follow it up and check it out, just to make sure. After all, he could be lying to them.

"Um...What are we waiting for?" Erin asked, as soon as Miles spoke to the boy again. "Let's go and check it out." Despite her injury, she was ready to go. "It's our duty to at least check." She started off towards the library without another word. Once she drew level with the boy, she stopped, regarding him coolly, before making a quick decision. "He can come with us. That way if he's lying, well we can deal with him." Her voice was as cold as her eyes. With her uninjured arm, she placed her hand firmly on his shoulder, turning him and steering him towards the library. It wasn't likely that the boy would attempt to over power her and if he did, she was confident that he wouldn't get very far. She still had one useful arm and she'd put it to good use. She glanced back at Miles to see if he was going to come with her....

Miriel simply chuckled at his statement about other rebellions, she had not said that there were no rebellions before his, just that his had been the worst in a /very/ long time. That being said, other forms of goverment that were more stable definitely interested her. Her loyalty was to Linthe after all, not to the goverment, or even the people running the goverment. If there was a way to make the city more efficient, and stable she wanted it to happen. In the time she had been pondering the lights went out suddenly as his tornado hit them, and she felt a bird of some sort fly past her as Egan ran out into the streets. The blast knocked her back a few feet, but she had been braced for something like that. It still stunned her for a few seconds, however she soon shrugged it off and let whatever natural magic let her move so fast flow into her, Egan was already 20 feet away by the time she got out, but she would be able to close that distance easily enough.

within about 10 seconds she had caught up despite how fast he was running, not attacking him this time, she simply ran a few feet behind him. She then spoke in a rather interested tone. "I will have to find out about these other types of governments, you are correct in saying I have never heard of them. A more stable form of government would be good for Linthe, if there is indeed a way to do so. A correction however, I simply said that your rebellion was the worst in about a thousand years, I never said there had not been other rebellions." She could keep up this pace, but her back was still aching a bit, as was her chest from where the wind blast had hit her. Miriel really hoped this chase would be over soon.

((If he play's his cards right Egan might get a spy. Or at the very least an ally. :p She has no sense of loyalty other then her chosen cause, and thats Linthe. Of course that is only if he can see past his hatred of the roses and recommend a good place to find a book with the information she wants. Either that or take the time to explain them a bit. Might take a long while though.))

Miles sighed with frustration as the girl took action to visit the library. It was his day off, and only a blasted fool jumped into every situation, which is what he seemed to be doing. As Miles silently followed the girl and her captive, that was his conclusion. He was a blasted fool. As they walked, he watched the boy carefully. Miles didn't trust his nervous behavior and vague understanding just like any true Rose wouldn't, and he would watch carefully for any attempt at escape, seeing as how Erin, this female Rose, was already injured and still determined to follow her duty. He supposed he could admire that, being well bound by his own sense of duty. but he didn't see the point in carrying out a duty when one's own health was at risk. A soldier's duty was to care for oneself as well as fulfill their duty, always needing full strength for any surprises.

"If we arrive and there is any danger, I want you to stay out of it as much as possible," he called forward, just loud enough to where he knew she would hear. He may not be her commanding officer, but he was a higher ranking Rose, and he had no qualms about pulling rank to make his warning an order if necessary, and he made that much obvious in his tone of voice when he spoke.

Will stayed silent an didn't resist when the female Rose grabbed him by the shoulder and dragged him along with her. After all, it wasn't a good idea to run away from a Rose. It was like fleeing from a wolf; it triggers their nsrincts, and they always win.

It wasn't long before they stepped out into the library plaza. The crowd was still there, the same size if not larger. "See? I wasn't-" Will was cut off by several screams from the crowd. Looking up, he saw that the mage had burst out of the building, closely followed by the Bladk Rose. "...lying," he finished, distracted by the events taking place.

A cold breeze of non-summoned wind welcomed Egan to the outdoors. His heart was pounding fast in rhythm with his footsteps which made swift subtle taps on the hard marvel. He saw for just an instant the frustrated scowl his own face wore, and then he was like a small doll dashing away from the dark silhouette of the library. Onyx had taken flight. He was an ant in a toy model of Linthe by the time she found a altitude she was comfortable with as she followed his progress, he didn't blame her, he had witnessed Meriel's miraculous aerobatic feats entirely thanks to her. Egan for his part was furious with himself, he clearly was rusty when it came to 'weed-whacking' two injuries which could been lethal, and a reckless chat about social political issues with the very rose that was trying to kill him, and possibly make a trophy out of his corpse to impress the king.

An icy decisiveness fell over Egan. He began to subconsciously slow down, he could already tell by his brief encounter with this rose that she was not one to give up, and no matter how much he ran she would catch up to him with ease. There were only two options it seemed teleportation or elimination, unfortunately Egan had yet to master the latter, he'd rather not attempt it in the heat of battle. She was behind him once again as he knew she would be. He clenched the Kite string tightly and expected her to dash towards him, for his part he was ready to put a merciless funnel between them the likes that could rip chunks off of the thick marvel buildings. "I will have to find out about these other types of governments, you are correct in saying I have never heard of them. A more stable form of government would be good for Linthe-" "Wh-What?" Egan nearly drooped his kite from the shock, was she actually asking him for more information? He spun around to face her on impulse even if he couldn't actually see her face. She was still speaking though he listened more to her tone then her actual words now, she seemed to be genuinely interested.

The whole situation was surreal if his wounds weren't sending him a constant stream of pain, he would have thought he were dreaming. This seemed as unlikely as the king inviting him over for tea! He was still very much alert, and filled with resentment and distrust but still he spoke. "You mean you really don't know?" He let out a cynical laugh. "Who would have guessed, even the roses aren't as free as they thought, yet you fight to keep everyone in their cage even yourselves!" As Egan was ranting, he had spoken without thinking, as a consequence his words hit him, with as much impact as they might have been hitting the rose. Did this mean roses were in a strange sense victims too? He loathed the thought of feeling sympathy for people notorious for sending a child to prison for so much as stealing, a jar of jam. Yet still a part of him beckoned him to continue. "I didn't hide out in the woods ever," that was a lie but it seemed prudent to throw them off, as he intended to keep his hide out. "I traveled the world, there are books outside of Linthe that would blow your mind! Natnat has a library full of them, some of them are just ideas, others were the system ancient nations once used, they grew rich and powerful there were hardly any beggars, and very little crime. Until one jackass takes it over and it becomes like Linthe and you know what happens after that? They fall and they fall hard! Oh yeah and one more thing the King's filthy inbred line is not descended from the gods! They'll pay dearly for that, one way or another..." Now Egan was being entirely honest of what he had learned in his travels. However he was also coming back down to reality, he remained in place ready to fight as he gauged the rose's reaction. He could not stay there any longer the boy had probably warned the authorities, and she would soon have more back up then he cared to deal with.

My internet connection was down for a few days, I hope the enthusiasm hasn't grown cold for you guys, this is one of the more interesting RPs I've seen on this site, and I don't want to see it die cause of me. :( @ elenial I would very much love the irony of Miriel and Egan becoming friends. :D I hope he played his hand well...He seems a little to impulsive to be a good poker player though. :P))

Erin turned to her head to Miles, an eyebrow arched, amusement all over her face. A small laugh left her lips, as she shook her head and rolled her eyes. "Somehow...I don't think I'll be keeping out of any fight." She turned back the way they were walking, still shaking her head gently. With her injured arm, she tugged her blue robes down a bit, smoothing them. Wincing, she stopped, allowing it to fall by her side, taking a deep breath. Not once did she glance at Will whilst they walked, but instead kept her eyes straight ahead, although her mind was on Miles. He seemed strange to her, but it was likely that she simply did not know him well enough. She hoped that her words had not upset him, but she was not one for sitting back and watching whilst others fought to protect her...That was not her job. Her job was to protect others, to fight for her kingdom, to protect her princess. For a second Eve flickered to her mind, but she pushed the thought out. The girl would be fine without her for a few hours.

Just as they rounded the corner, Will began to talk, but cut off suddenly. Erin's gaze followed his and her mouth fell open in surprise. She tightened her grip of Will, as though he was the reason for the Mage's appearance, as though he had caused it. Glancing back at Miles, she shrugged, her hand falling from the boy's shoulder. "What was that about me keeping out of it?" She drew her sword with her uninjured arm, glancing up at the mage. "I don't think we have a choice."

It was one of those strange moments in life where time seemed to stay still, there was a crowd building in the distance Egan could hear their gaspd of astonishment, and the fast chatter of people speaking amongst themselves about what they had seen or heard. He his summoned wind was as still as the surrounding air now. He simply waited for the rose's response, whether that be a confirmation that she would research what he told her, or a charge to battle. It was only while thinking of the more then likely combat he would soon face that he realized he had foolishly stopped concentrating on using Onyx's sight. While he was close enough to this rose to hear even the faintest of movements, he was blind to the greater area. From the roof of a 5 story building Egan could now see his dark form a small figurine made of shadow, the far shorter and more slender one was the rose, but their were 3 more approaching 2 adults and the boy from before! One had their sword drawn and was advancing towards him. Egan immediately lifted his kite and the wind began to roar around him, he was in the center of a massive tornado he scrambled back towards the direction he came from, for reasons beyond his comprehension he moved ever so slightly to left as he passed the black rose so as to not assault her with the wind. The fact that he now had 3 enemies to deal with and was solely dependent on Onyx and his magic to be his senses outside his cyclone made him somewhat uncomfortable, but he had a rather usual escape plan he was certain would work...if only because the route would be unpleasant for himself as well as any pursuers who would have the stomach to follow him.

Miriel simply nodded to Egan, she was sure that she would have a mission in Natnat fairly soon in any case, someone had to get that airship technology after all. And it had looked like Natnat was not going to be giving it up easily. As she saw her fellow roses she raised her swords once again, simply watching, she was quite cautious thanks to his rather strong defenses now. Not only that but she wanted him alive and well if what he said was true. She met her eyes with Erin's and smiled a little. Hopefully Egan had some sort of brilliant plan to escape, to be frank Miriel could not help him now without being reported. Now that she knew he was active again she would probably be able to track him down fairly easily later.
