Each character has their own trait, skills, best suited combat style, and history. Characters are able to learn additional skills or combat styles or establish new traits or get rid of bad ones but this process will take time, requiring them remain alive in your company. The status states whether this character is active (In your group) or inactive (Not part of the group or dead) there can be cases where an inactive character crosses roads with the group later in the story allowing opportunity for recruitment. Everything about characters will be locked or list the minimum and will be unlocked the better you get to know the character and as the story progresses.
