XXXXXFew and far between, the Mesmers have never been a species of particularly impressive numbers even prior to their vanquish. Regardless, their population, though thinly dispersed, was widespread throughout the world, leaving little indication of their true origins. Unlike Fae extremely reputable titles, such as the Dragon or mermaid, recordings of this Fae in the human realm are infrequent, though not undetectable. The occasional happening upon this species came in the form of an unsolicited action, documented by those who claimed to have been influenced in such a way that the control over their own mobility had been compromised. Whether it be as phantom as the unintentional flick of the wrist to ruin a painting in progress, or as significant as the placement of poison into a King's drink, Mesmers have managed avoid the unavoidable consequences to their actions. As for the recognition of the Mesmer's momentous acts, it is difficult to place credit upon one when in the end the act was not theirs, no matter the influence.

X ▐║ ABILITIES :
XXXXXDespite being awarded the epithet "Mesmer" by their fellow fae, deriving from various translations of the definition of mesmerism, the precise mechanism behind the Mesmer's powers remains, for the most part, undisclosed. Known as the puppeteers of the Fae realm, the Mesmers are recognized for their ability to control Fae and humans alike, ceasing their victim's mobility with simple hand gestures and commanding their very movements. Being a master of one trade and not a jack of all may seem to be a disadvantage to some, but the Mesmer's one métier is far from piddling. Nevertheless, there are outside forces that are able to limit or restrain a Mesmer's abilities; for example, the breaking of a Mesmer's concentration will lead to the releasing of their victim, and the binding of a Mesmer's hands with render them completely powerless. Fae such as werewolves in their wolf state, and those who lack a physical manifestation remain unaffected by the Mesmer's powers.

X ▐║ STRENGTHS
XXXXXIllusions, the ability to contort reality to their liking has always been the greatest skill of the Nine-tailed Foxes, allowing them to ultimately influence another's understanding of the conjectured state of things as they actually exist. While Lien has never utilized this ability for malevolent reasons, instead finding pleasure in pulling simple pranks on her victims, the illusions of Nine-tailed foxes have been known to drive some to death.
XXXXXSubterfuge, as deception is a practice, Lien has since become a master of trickery; an astute mind and a silver tongue provide her the tools necessary for luring others into believing her spoken falsities. Never a fan of unfavorable odds, her skill of deceit will turn an unfortunate circumstance beneficial on a dime.
XXXXXAnimal Instinct, perhaps not as different as her mammalian cousin as she'd like to admit, Lien's fox instincts have kept her alive thus far, ensuring her survival in times unexpected. Sometimes it is ones natural response to stimuli that upholds their self-preservation.

X ▐║ WEAKNESSES
XXXXXHer Tails, said to be the source of the Nine-tailed Fox's magic, the loss of even one tail is no laughing matter. Just as lore would have it, cutting off all tails of the Fae results in immediate death. That being said, despite her apparent openness regarding the handling of her tails, they are her most vulnerable asset: her Achilles heel.
XXXXXAlcohol, for millennia alcohol has been a beverage regarded fondly by those across the globe, an aspect that can be found in the records of every culture. Despite being regarded at an enabler of pleasure for many, this including the Nine-tailed fox, the over consumption of it will have the Nine-tailed Fox powerless. Lien has long since learned of the dangers attached to alcohol and avoids it to the best of her abilities.
XXXXXDogs, due to the fact that dogs have the ability to detect the Fae despite the use of glamour, they have become the natural enemy of the Nine-tailed fox. Many Nine-tailed foxes have been exposed while in their human state as the result of their hatred and fear of dogs. Some become so unnerved by the mere presence of dogs that they revert back to their fox form and flee.

X ▐║ FEARS
XXXXXHồ Tinh, Lien has no relation to her past self and she'd like to keep it that way. She recalls who she once was in flashes - mainly the deeds Hồ Tinh had committed and the pain suffering inflicted upon others because of them. The releasing of her resentment could mean that Lien once again will coincide with her former self.
XXXXXWerewolves, Lien has only ever met one werewolf in her life and needless to say the experience left her traumatized and forever terrorized. Extending far beyond her fright of dogs, Lien natural aversion to canines is ingrained in her bones.

XXXX Regardless of the array of Nine-tailed Foxes, the stereotype that tends to be their embodiment presents them as tricksters, with motives that vary from mischief to malevolence. The multiple accounts of their misdemeanors are most definitely the root cause of this illustration. Their stories tell of the Korean Kumiho playing tricks on overly prideful soldiers and money-grubbing merchants, or particularly cruel Japanese Kitsune mistreating poor farmers and devout Buddhist monks. Words such as sly, impish, and cunning have become attached to the Nine-tailed fox, and Lien does little to disprove her stereotype by being all of the said traits.

XXXXOn the other hand, that's not to say that Lien is needlessly cruel. She lacks the mean spirited motivations that others of her species may have, and while she frequently enjoys partaking in shenanigans, it's all a bit of harmless fun in her eyes. Lien's general fondness of company translates into her displayed characteristics of good-natured amiability and gregariousness. She has been known to makes introverts squirm, be as it may, as she has the tendency of becoming overbearingly chummy on occasion. Regardless of the fact that Nine-tailed Foxes are solitary beings, years of isolation have turned her sour at the thought of loneliness. Perhaps an unfortunate side affect of an unconscious need to maintain relationships, Lien will pry into situations that are best left alone. Her habit of sticking her nose in places where it doesn't belong has landed her in how water before, but not enough to dissuade her from discontinuing the intrusive practice.

XXXX As strange as it may be for the Fae who believe in living modest lives, Lien takes great pleasure in indulging herself. Lien loves to live lavishly. Fascinated by highly-valued material possessions, she is an advocate for both materialism and living large. With the aid of her illusion-creating capabilities, Lien has been able to obtain many of her acquisitive desires. Her indulgence is not limited to material items, but also of certain earthly pleasures. Seduction being second nature to the Nine-tailed Foxes, Lien herself is a fan of the pass time. A habitual flirt, Lien's naturally coquettish nature is alluring to those willing to receive her attention. On another note, she will not hesitate to indulge herself herself in adventure every now and then. Spontaneous journeys are in store for those who decide to attach themselves to Lien.

X ▐║ HISTORY
XXXXXThousands of years ago, a time in which the world would seem alien to the modern man, the capital was not the bustling, heavily-populated city that it is today. Instead, Hanoi began with humble origins, and those that chose to reside within its perimeters lived simply, most making a modest living as farmers. Days passed with a relatively tranquil motion, as a routine lifestyle would lull the people into a state of peace. This so called peace, however, was sundered by a beast which shared a home with the people of Hanoi, dwelling deep within a caves of the nearby mountains. Tainting their otherwise harmonious way of life, the beast was known to inflict terror into the heart of all who uttered its name.

XXXXX"Hồ Tinh" was the title that fell from the lips of the brave souls that dared to utter the name, the words branding the creature a fox monster. Leaving the comfort of his lair only to prey on the humans who lived so near, Hồ Tinh would take guise of a human male to lure his victims, commonly women, back to his dwellings through use of tricks and illusions. Multiple humans would be held captive by Hồ Tinh until the time came that he feasted upon them. The harassment of the people by the beast continued relentlessly for hundreds of years; the people helplessly carried on their lives with the fear that one day Hồ Tinh may stumble upon them and deem them his next meal.

XXXXXJust as the natural course of things would see fit, Hồ Tinh's reign would eventually come to an end at the hands of a prince by the name of Lạc Long Quân. The winds carrying the horrifying tales of the malevolent creature's deeds to his ears, Lạc Long Quân decided that he was to seal Hồ Tinh's fate once and for all by putting an end to his life. Gathering an army of men, the prince ventured out to the mountain with visions of slaughtering the beast filling his mind's eye. Despite Lạc Long Quân being far from foolish, not underestimating the power of a proclaimed celestial being, he perhaps was not expecting just how formidable his target was. The battle between Hồ Tinh and Lạc Long Quân lasted three entire days and by the end of the third day, both parties were at their wits end. Lạc Long Quân was finally able to kill his opponent by entrapping Hồ Tinh through the use of magic and cutting his head off.

XXXXXUnsatisfied by the destruction of Hồ Tinh, the prince sought to destroy all remaining evidence of the fox monster, eradicating his den and ordering a pond to be built in its place. Next, a temple was built in order to suppress the fox's resentment, ensuring that the people would be safe from the fox's ill actions from beyond the grave. It was then did the people, who had left their homes in order to escape Hồ Tinh's wrath, return and when they did, they sung praises to their great hero- the prince Lạc Long Quân.

XXXXXLittle did Lạc Long Quân and the people of Hanoi know, during the time that Hồ Tinh sought refuge during their battle, he was able to preserve his soul into the seed of a lotus. It was never thought that millenia later the lotus would give birth to the fox monster's reincarnation; the aquatic flower would bloom to reveal a new nine-tailed fox.
