Introduction
If you were to walk deep into the Northern Forest, you'd soon come across the Devalin Academy for the Mythical. True to it's name, Devalin schools the children of legends. While the human world lives on, these children and their heritage remain things of legend. Once these students graduate, they are sent out on their own, filled with the knowledge of how to keep their abilities hidden from those who would seek to harm them or put them on display to the world.
Hidden away from the non-magical, non-mythical world, Devalin Academy is more than just a school. It is a home, a safe haven, and a sanctuary. Students here come from all around the world, some who's kinds are well knwon amongst the world as folklore, and others, while not as well known, are still just as real and as different as any one human could ever be from another.
With classes for each and every student, designed to work to the best of each of their abilities, Devalin is one of the best, mostly because it is one of the only, schools for mythical creatures in the world. With staff who are not just teachers to these children, but a form of family as well, those at Devalin are a very close knit group, though that is not to say that there is no chaos, trouble, or drama here and there.
With a new year starting, comes new possibilites. Love, trouble, heartbreak, and everything that comes with "boarding school" is just around the corner. Are you ready?

Mermaids
Mermaids. Everyone knows what they are, but not many people really know who they are. On land they look like any other regular human beings, but, if a single drop of water comes into contact with their skin, they show their true form. Half human, with the tail of a fish, mermaids are capable of holding their breath for long periods of time, and some have certain abilities, powers over the water itself. Often with a mermaid, their tail will be a special color, but sometimes, they match the color of their hair or eyes. Mermaids are known for their free spirits, their affinity with water, and their musical talent.

Werewolves
Another one of the more famous mythological creatures, human knowledge of werewolves stretches from one end of the spectrum to the other. While, like most legend states, they do transform every full moon, after their first transformation, which happens at a young age, usually around 7 to 10 years, werewolves can transform whenever they like, and the pain of doing so decreases with time. Werewolves, even in their human form, have a heightened sense of hearing and smell, and have an almost alter ego, known as their "inner wolf", who shows to be a much more primal being. Werewolves know when a full moon nears, and with just one look at their eyes, others can to, because, while a werewolf looks human in every aspect, when a full moon comes around, their eyes change. Flecks of amber and gold will appear here and there, and, as the full moon nears, will spread, until, on the night of the full moon, the werewolf's eye color has changed completely. Werewolves are beings of high emotion, though, most quickly learn to control their feelings, as strong emotions can sometimes trigger a transformation if the werewolf has not developed their control. The "inner wolf" serves as a sort of subconscious to them, and when a full moon is right around the corner, is strong. Sometimes, the wolf will take over, and a werewolf wont act like them self. They wont even think like them self, because they aren't in control. Just like regular wolves, werewolves often travel in packs, and as such, are very protective of those they are close to.

Shifters
Shifters are some of the most common legendary species in the world. While their numbers might not be as large as some, they certainly aren't a small group. A Shifter's power is transformation, though, this transformation is often limited to one other type of form. Unlike werewolves, Shifters retain their fully conscious mind in their Second Form. Often, their Second Form holds some traits of their human form, and usually the form itself is derived from both physical, and personal aspects of the Shifter them self.

Moroi
Moroi are a race that are often confused with vampires, which truly are just fiction and folklore. Moroi, until the age of 27, grow and age just as normal humans do, though, to be at the full extent of their strength, must consume blood. They have extremely heightened senses, and, when they smell or see blood, the veins around their eyes become visible, the whites of their eyes go dark red, and fangs protrude from their mouth. After they turn 27, Moroi are immortal and do not age, but will die if they are killed by a wooden stake. They usually have impeccable beauty, and have the ability to compel mortals, or other creatures.

Veelas
Veelas are one of the most ancient races known to this world. They are a semi-human, semi-magical race of creatures that can often be described as "perfect" as their features usually seem to be flawless and they are unusually beautiful. Though they live longer lives than most humans, Veelas are not immortal. They live and they die, like normal people. Veelas have the ability to entrance people, be it with their looks, voice, movements, and sometimes, pheromones. When Veelas are angry, their eyes change, and they grow fangs and claws from which venom or pheromones spread. It is from this that legend of Harpies is derived from. Veelas are known to have very short tempers, but can also be very convincing and persuasive. Most Veela come from ancient clans, large families of Veelas, and as most clans have ancient traditions, some arrange marriages for their children, set to happen when they come of age. Most families have traditions of their own, and breed their children with standards all their own. It is because of this that Veela are different from all other creatures.

Faeries
Faeries often have very childlike demeanor and are always full of energy. Those with more control over their ability can, whenever they want, change into small faeries, with delicate wings, just as most people would see in a fairy tale drawing. In their faerie form, they have a large arsenal of magical powers, and of course, can fly. In their human form, however, it takes a large amount of thought and concentration to utilize and control their magic. Their powers are often connected to their emotions, and their emotions, like their personalities, is somewhat childish. Faerie-folk can sometimes be immature, but in a crisis, their minds seem to work better while others stop completely. They have wonderful memories, and usually remember things longer than any other type of creature in the world.

Nymphs
Nymphs are the closest any creature can get to the earth itself. To them, the earth is a living being, a mother to all, and their emotions are usually derived from what element they are able to control. Fire Nymphs have hot tempers and everything with them is intense. Air nymphs are light, and often have their heads stuck in the clouds. Water nymphs are free spirits, whose thoughts are as ever-changing as a river. Earth nymphs are the more calm, tranquil, and grounded of the nymphs. Each nymph lives to their element and because of that, while they are still the same type of creature, they couldn't be more different from one another.

Dhampirs
Dhampirs are not to be confused with Moroi. A Dhampir is the hybrid child of a Moroi and a human. Dhampirs age very slowly after they reach their 20th year of life. Though, they are not immortal. Many of them have extensive powers of speed, strength, fighting skills beyond what any human could ever dream of. Among themselves, Dhampirs also have the power to speak telepathically with other Dhampirs. Often Dhampirs and Moroi develop close bonds with each other, stronger than most bonds between any other creatures.
