Description

The protege student of Princess Celestia, and an expert in magic. She was first sent to Ponyville to make friends - a task that opened her eyes to the greatest magic of all.

Most unicorns' magic revolves around their special talent, usually displayed via cutie mark - but Twilight Sparkle's talent IS magic! As such, she knows a wide array of different spells. She can even memorize a spell's workings on sight!

She is the most recent princess in Equestrian history, a paragon of sorts.

Steve plays Jurgen off with a sad violin.

Eventually, the group catches up to Jagger and Peacock...who are both restrained in the air by magic gold shackles!

"Rrgghhh...! What is this?!" Jagger exclaimed, trying to wriggle free (to no avail).

"They're completely restrained!" Twilight said in shock. "But what could have - ?"

"I-I got an idea...!" Zenmei said, pointing to the most probable source.

Floating high in the air is an eight-foot-tall armored horse of gold, with narrow blade-like legs. Its wings spread far apart, their ethereal energy scattering.

Before she could warn the man, the horse creature cast a glow from its blue eyes, locking up the trigger.

"...That's what it did to me..."

"I...I have no idea what it is...!" Zenmei replied to Heavy. "But it sure looks powerful...!"

Dr. Y opens fire on the horse... or would, if anything but "click" came out of the shotgun.

"What the-" asked Dr. Y.

The doctor's shotgun is enchanted so that it never runs out of ammo... but other than that it's a normal shotgun, and it still needs to not be jammed to fire.

"Great," said Dr. Y, tossing the shotgun to the ground. "So much for the easy way."

By the guardian's eye glow, Steve's bazooka also locks up, as does Heavy's gun.

"Foolish nag of gaudy plating!" Fawful shouts. "Prepare to be peppered with my laser paprika of DOOM!" But of course, his phaser also locks up.

"One more...!" Zenmei charges with Rekinen in hand...but instead gets held back by some mysterious force. In fact, all eleven are lifted into the air by the guardian's magic, restricted in place.

Reckless. You will not claim the key I hold with this behavior.

"Y-You got it all wrong...!" Jagger struggled to say. "We were brought here by those keys - "

And you are wasting my time.

"Then what is it...that you want...?!" Twilight retorted.

Spreading his wings, the guardian cast out a pulse that flung everyone back and down onto the ground.

Think on that yourself. I, Ortus of the Order, will decide if you should return to the planet.

With that, the guardian Ortus vanished into thin air.

"Great...that Ortus is sending us on a wild goose chase..." Zenmei groaned, pulling his (literally) broken left arm together.

Dr. Y lands on the ground poorly, snapping his joints in various painful ways.

"Order," he says, unphased by this and snapping back into position. "Hmph. Order's fine and dandy, but there's not an ounce of reason with that order in that horse. Otherwise he would have-"

Dr. Y stops, thinking back to the point that they tried to fire on it first.

"But he just said we were trespassin'!" Peacock grumbled.

"Yeah..." Zenmei sighed. "Somehow, I think we might be wasting our time."

"Then waste time, I shall cease doing!" Fawful proclaimed. "I will locate this brute of an Ortus, and I will claim his power, and then...! {clears throat} Anyhoo...smell you later, fink-rats!" With that, Fawful sped off into the distance.

"Dammit..." Jagger growled. "I seriously got dragged into this for nothing...!!" His fist clenched, emitting surges of green electricity. Peacock leaned back, startled.

It's right about now that Dr. Y realized that Fawful probably couldn't hear him. He paused before walking over to Jurgen and kicking him directly in the crotch.

"Now as for the rest of you," said Dr. Y. "I hope our last encounter with that horse has demonstrated to you how important it is not to rush ahead. If we are to get our key, get off this moon, whatever, we'll have a better chance if we stick together. Is that clear?"

Not like Fawful was going to listen. He has visions of grandeur ahead of him.

Anyway, Jagger didn't take kindly to Jurgen's taunt. Not only were his fists sparking now, but his eyes were radiating a similar neon green. "So are you! But if you want me to change that - !!"

"JAGGER!" Zenmei shouted, grabbing Jagger's arm and snapping him out of his angry trance. "Cool your turbines! That's the same attitude that got you shackled!"

"..." Jagger steadied his breathing gradually, up to one complacent sigh. "Right..."

"That's better." With that, Zenmei took a seat on the ground, mulling over the situation. "Though...I guess we can only blame ourselves for jumping into this mess - " He paused a moment to reconsider part of it. "Uh...! E-Except for you, Doctor. A-And Heavy. You just wanted to see how Qwark was doing..."

Peacock took a seat next to Twilight, lighting up one of her many cigars. "Say...is it any irony that most of us have something in common after all?"

As Peacock puffs her cigar, Twilight waves the incoming smoke away with her wing. "Something in common?"

"Yeah, seems we're all...edgy in some way. You know?"

Jagger looks to his hand, more relaxed now than it was a moment ago. "Can't argue with that. I almost lost my cool there..."

Zenmei then realized something. "Wait - maybe that's why we were brought against Ortus - because of some glaring flaw we share!"
