Personal Introduction

This is a story arc I have once played out on Gaia Online but the RPers there proved often to be unreliable or were too casual to take it as seriously as it should have been. They're just overly anime and Harry Potter inspired to play realistic roles and not be overly generic. What I am hoping to do is relive a few of these stories here and make some more proficient RP buddies.

The stories between different arcs will follow one another more or less and anyone who joins any of them is free to participate in the next one with the same character and grow alongside the story. The endings will be different and dependent of the player choices made throughout the story. Of course, I won't be a GM exactly but I will be keeping an eye on the story and doing as little influencing as possible but I will keep it fluent and steady.

Now let's begin...

Hunted & Haunted
Stonetown

Story

There is a small town not to far from a small trade route south of the continent. The village was well marked on any map and drew in caravans, traders, merchants, and it's fair share of adventurers. It was once called Milltown for it's many mills and wheat farmers that had been the first to live there but over the years quarries had been erected and the residents began a tradition of sculpting and masonry until nearly everything was made entirely or partly of local stone and thus many began referring to Milltown as Stonetown.

Recently however, fewer travelers ventured near Stonetown. Different rumors roused themselves and differed from inn to inn but the general story ran along the lines of haunts, ghosts, and curses. The stories say the town inhabitants have all disappeared and a few young adventurers and scavengers went out to see what they could find, or steal, but none of have returned.

It's been nearly a month since the stories began and it had caught the ears of a few particular persons...

Introduction

All players have been drawn to Stonetown for their own personal reasons; whether it be fame, adventure, or treasure.

The maximum group size is 6 but a minimum of 3 is required before the start of the story. There will be a possibility of new players entering mid-story.

Characters may start together or find the others as they arrive. Let's keep solo wandering to a minimum but no rules against splitting up.

Character Types

In this universe, there are many unusual skills to help humans against the darkness, evil, and the undead. Some of these skills have been incorporated into jobs. These are free for the taking but you cannot make up your own but feel free to make regular type characters (Thieves, warriors, mercs, etc.).

Breakers:
These are the counterparts to all magicks and evil spirits in the realm of humans. Breakers specialize in breaking curses, repelling evil, and disabling magicks. They aren't much for combat but they can hold their own long enough. Breakers, knowing how to break magick, have also incidentally learned how to recreate it. Breakers can place curses, summoning, and creating magical traps.

Exorcists: Exorcists are well versed in all religions and are a part of the Papal army. They perform exorcisms, are proficient against all undead and devilry, and are combat trained. Exorcists have something of a white smokey light that at times float far inside their eyes. It's said that it is the touch of a holy spirit that gives them the power to resist demons and the devil.

Judges: Judges are the law of the land. Each king has his own council of judges which carry out the laws and deliver punishment. They are highly skilled in combat and adorn full body plate. Their heads are to be forever concealed under a helmet shaped like an animal and are to keep their heads covered under every circumstance.

Witches: Witches are hated and burned alive daily around the world so any real witch would never dare admit her heritage. Most witches are regular humans but the power they hold often corrupts them in the long run as it was never meant to be a power held by humans. Witches use words and math to control reality. Clever rhymes and scribbled calculations can produce desirable effects when used in the right way, the right place, and the right time. Words cannot be repeated to make another spell (Ever repeat a word over and over till it lost meaning? Just like that) and words are for some unknown reason tied to the dictionary (Which doesn't exist in this universe, due it being set in the old days, but words still use the intended definition.)

Born witches, unlike trained ones, have the ability to see time. Young witches see time through emotions and sometimes, rarely, images. However, with growth they can learn to see clearer and perhaps even control it.

Witches have also a tendency to learn medicine and alchemy which is nothing magical but is often seen as magic. Male witches are known as he-witch or man-witch.

Slayers: Slayers are your regular tough and brawny warriors or your quick footed and swift rangers. Slayers come in all shapes, armor, and sizes but the constant factor is their knowledge of monsters. Slayers sell themselves as monster hunters and acquire body parts of the slain for alchemical purposes, medical study, and as trophies.

Character Skeleton

Name:
Sex:
Age:
Occupation: [Character Types listed above or other]

Back Story: [Try to make it a good solid paragraph or two and try to refrain from being a generic tragedy afflicted player or some high born. It's fine if you do but originality is much better.]

Personality: [A good paragraph and try to veer from the generic hapless female or the stone cold man.]

Appearance: [No pictures; writing and reading characters make it easier to visualize... No, seriously, it does.]

Reason for coming: [It doesn't have to be fully fleshed or detailed but it helps. This is mainly for the player to dig deeper into their character and think as to why they came to try and find out what happened]

Gates of Stonetown

Gates of Stonetown by RolePlayGateway

A wide stone gate with the name "Stonetown" made of cast iron sitting proudly on top. There's no wear or damage on the stone, as if it was brand new. Only the lifeless feeling beyond the gate indicates something is wrong.

Mason's Way

Mason's Way by RolePlayGateway

Mason's Way is the central street that leads directly to the church. On it's sides you can see a tavern called "The Straw Man", a general store, and what appears to be a small infirmary.

The Straw Man

The Straw Man by RolePlayGateway

The doors are wide open and you can see how empty it is before you even step foot inside. Liquor, perfume, and spoiled food pertain the air.

The Infirmary

The Infirmary by RolePlayGateway

A place of healing and rest. You can still rest in the inside and rummage for herbs and poultices if needed.

The Church

The Church by RolePlayGateway

A large stone church with stained glass windows. The large double doors are partially open. A small cemetery can be found in the back.

Mayor's Mansion

Mayor's Mansion by RolePlayGateway

A large house that nearly dwarfs the church and probably doesn't on the account of it being blasphemy to live in a home larger than that of God.
