Introduction
You a normal person are in New York City at this time, the plague spreads rapidly however you are not infected not yet anyway. The aftermath of course is most of the world is the walking dead.
You'll have to keep your wits about you, you can be infected and turned into one more lost soul.
The Virus: The virus effects any organism it comes into contact with, symptoms include fever, a hunger that can't be filled, dulled senses after a while the person will be clinically dead, a fraction of their former self. An hour or so later the corpse will reanimate becoming one of the undead. The virus at first was airborne, infecting most of the population after the initial wave it manifested in its host. Spreading it through, bites.
The Undead: These are the victims infected with the virus, their only need is the one to feed. Struck down to its most basic instinct, don't be fooled they are not living the only organ that still functions is the brain and their respiratory system which functions little allowing them to moan endlessly. Zombies are slow since their brains deterioration, they can only shamble after their prey.
Infection can be stop with amputation of the infected part.
Setting: The day seems normal as with any other day, however at 2:15pm the virus will be unleashed. The RP will begin at 1:30pm allowing some sense of civilization going down the toilet.

She pushed the break and her bike came to a halt. She got off pulling her keys out of the ignition and back into her pocket. She looked left then right, before her eyes settled on a particular building, the door had a number 14 on it, her contact was on the roof of this building apparently, it was all rather shady and suspicious, she would've asked her contact about this had she not been so tired. She walked over to the door stiffing a yawn, she tried to push it open, locked "Why can't they do it the simple way." She muttered irritated, she walked around to the side of the building and quickly found an easy route she could scale.
She hopped up grabbing the ledge, she quickly pushed herself up catching a windowsill she scaled it around before hopping over to a rusting pipe she climbed it, then managed to jump grabbing a ledge she pushed herself up, and she was on top of the building. There was only one person up there she walked over to him, he must be her contact she thought she pulled the package out of her satchel and handed it to the man, he took it without saying a word, Jack also produced a Clip Board "I'll need you to sign her, sir." she spoke softly the man raised an eyebrow shocked but held no qualms against signing it. She shrugged tiredly looking forward to one thing, bed she walked over to the nearest ledge and checked her watch it was 2:00pm she thought she could get a couple of hours snooze.

"You don't need to keep coming..." he croaked, his voice straining from not being used for so long.
"Ah, and let you get away with more of this silliness? i think not." she humphed, getting a garbage bag. Allan managed a smirk and sat up to help her with the mess. He didn't even know the date, and he didn't want to. It was this month sometime that his son died two years ago and he hoped to miss it "accidentally" by being impaired or unaware. Once he reached the window area, a little bit of a falling feeling washed over him. There were no birds outside...New York was always full of them....but his mind was too foggy from the hangover, so he thought nothing more of it.

Suddenly, raised voices broke Terri's thought process, and he looked over his shoulder to see two cons, a hispanic guy and a white guy, beating the crap out of each other, even though they were cuffed. When Terri looked to the front, the guard struggled to get his large a mass out of the chair and moved to the fight that was breaking out.
"Just another day", Terri thought to himself as he rested his head against the barred windows of the bus.

It was 2:25pm by the time she got home, she opened the door tiredly she looked around her parents nowhere to be seen, she didn't care "Probably out together or something" Jack muttered to herself, she didn't like this habit she picked up, she wasn't crazy but still it did feel better to say something. She climbed up the stairs, there was blood trailing up a rather large amount, this troubled her, also her parents door was open the trail of blood led into there she opened the door her breath rugged a small sense of fear crept up her spine she had to force herself to open it. The tables were knocked over and there lay her Mother throat ripped open, and her Father eating her flesh, she backed away denying this, this wasn't happening her dad looked over to her half his cheek was missing he got up slowly moaning he slowly approached her "Get back" She spoke fear cracked her voice.

"HOLY SH**!" he cried, stomping the arm down as hard as he could. When he finally reached his floor, several people were out probably feeling like something had gone wrong.
"Everyone go back into your rooms! don't go out!" he cried. Some of them laughed at him until they noticed the trail of blood he was leaving behind. He closed his door tightly and called the police. No answer...
Soon enough the hall was filled with screams of those who didn't heed to his warning. They were coming closer....something started bumping against his door and he knew he didn't have much time until they knocked it down. He grabbed a bag and filled with supplies and headed to his window. The walls of the building had ledges big enough for someone to scale but the length between them were dangerous. There was no choice. He climbed out his window and started climbing praying for the first time that he would not slip.

I guess I tend to have that effect on lots of people :p
As for general toughness a Zombies only functioning organ it needs is it's brain you'll either have to cause mass physical trauma to the body, or damage its brain which ceases functions. Zombies are rotted their muscle tissue is a lot weaker varying for how long they've been a Zombie, so no they are not at all strong. A Zombie has no sense apart from sight and even after the persons left it will shamble in their general direction. As said generally you can survive the infection, in small doses, so a scratch, won't infect you neither will airborne.
That's interesting, since most things I see try and super power the zombies some. Treating them like rabid dogs amped up on 100% adrenaline when they go in attack mode. Still I think they'd have to be strong enough to tear someone apart at least. Also I see most times where the zombie is actually considered blind, which is a good explanation for why their eyes are cloudy and all white most times, things like car alarms and gunshots attract them a lot. Do the zombies attack each other you think or are they just able to look at and realize what looks like "good food" [people/animals] and what is bad food? [other zombies] Could people fool zombies by dressing up as a zombie and shambling around ya think?
As for posting it, you did a good job.
YAY :3
Re: [OOC] Masses of the Dead
Well honestly I like quite a few characters in an RP but I don't like a bundle of characters do I'd say around ten before I close of new characters. About skills it's whatever your characters good at for instance a reporter may have skills in lock picking and so and so. But for general story, plot wise some people may pave their own way but there is going to be a general plot if that's what you mean. Hmm for this I'm sure it's going to be the entire world with pockets of general survivors.
As for other characters you can have around 2. Well the type of virus there is a reason why it takes characters 24 hours that's one of the reason why they didn't get infected in the initial wave, but in general I'm thinking cure wise anti virus, but a Carrier might be okay you'll have to confirm it with me though. Weapons that goes with profession, history your character could be a Police Officer or a drug dealer. As for opposing groups, perhaps later in the RP I'm focusing on the first wave and how people will cope with it. As for keeping it in New York, I'm sure it's going to stay in New York. Next question your character can be specialized in anything, just keep the extreme badass skills for later. Age group I'm fine with any age. Animals are no go's due to lack of interaction, and yes animals can get infected.

As for length I would like around one paragraph at least, as there's so much to write about. If someone can't be back for a while I would like notice and perhaps a post about them hiding somewhere. Generally I would like the characters to have at least 4 Posts a week. As for posting it, you did a good job.
Re: [OOC] Masses of the Dead
Onto more character specific questions. Can we play multiple characters? If so, how many? Could someone have their character be immune, whether the character knows this or not is another thing. Could someone start with a weapon, and I don't mean like a baseball bat or an wood cutting axe. Do you want all the characters in one group, or do you plan to have opposing groups that fight each other for resources/religion/racism/etc on top of surviving through the zombie problem? Do you plan to keep the RP in Newyork or are we going to be able to travel? What sort of "experience" are we allowed to give our characters, paramilitary? Medical/Doctor? Mechanic/Electrician? What sort of age group are we allowed to play, kids/elderly? Could we play an animal? Are animals immune?
Now more questions about the zombies. Individually how tough are they on average? Do they go down easily aka bat to the head or are they tough enough to keep getting back up even after running them down with a car several times. Increased strength or no? If so how strong are they? Do they run at you like L4D or do they shamble at you like more traditional zombies? [Ooops, just noticed in reading it again that you do mention they can only shamble at you. Sorry :)] Speaking of L4D, any "special" infected zombies? Can we play as one? How do zombies typically find "survivors"? By sound, smell or sight? Or do they just have a "zombie vision" sort of ability? How is the infection generally passed on... only through bites? What about scratches? What if you get blood on you from say, beating a zombie's brains out with a tire iron? Is it still airborne? Infected water sources?
Now more about general RP questions. What are you expecting as far as average posting times/length? What if someone can't be around for a while and lets you know? What if they can't be around and don't let you know? Things like that... what do you expect out of us in general? Oh, and I'm new like I said, I wouldn't mind getting a little help in figuring out how to traverse the forum tabs and such a little easier... did I post this in the right spot? I think I did but in case not, it was an accident. :p That's about everything I can think of.
