Venira Sul Teles

An arrogant Telvanni wizard, hungry for knowledge - at any price.

0 · 220 views · located in Morrowind, Tamriel

a character in “Morrowind's Salvation”, as played by Duchessa

Description

Name: Venira Sul Teles

Age: 268

Gender: Female

Race: Dunmer

Racial Abilities:

• Shadow of Red Mountain (Resist Fire 75%)

• Ancestor Guardian (Sanctuary 50pts for 60 seconds on self)

Affiliation: Great House Telvanni (Mainland Branch)

Rank: Magister (technically Magister-Errant)

Marks: As Azura put it, ‘In the Star-Wounded East, the wizard-lord you seek bears the butterfly-marks of the Overlord Unhinged. Though long passed from His worship, she still carries the faint traces of Sheogorath’s influences.

Appearance: Venira has the sort of face that most class as ‘ageless’. Her unlined skin is one of the palest shades of ash most have ever seen, and she paints her lips – a curving Cupid’s-bow shape - a very dark purple, her favourite colour. Rubies blaze from her ears in teardrop pendants, matching her bloodred eyes – which quite often flash with fire of a more magickal nature.

Her hair seems to be where all the ashy colour sucked from her skin has ended up – it’s as black as the sides of Red Mountain, and usually pinned up in an elaborate coiffure by several ebony-and-ruby pins, although a few ringlets always seem to escape and frame her face.

She is lithe, as all Dunmer tend to be, but the fantastical robes of Telvanni wizards generally tend to hide the fact in swirling ancestor-moth silks, along with the curves she does have. She habitually wears deep purple gloves stitched with tiny amethysts in a butterfly pattern - even in her current straitened circumstances. A heavy golden House signet ring rests on the little finger of her left hand.

Personality

Admittedly, Venira Teles is a Telvanni through and through. Iconoclastic, profane and unconventional fits her well. She hungers for knowledge, both old and new and, in truth, cares little for how that knowledge is acquired, whether from book or scroll or experiments sacred and profane. She truly does believe that wisdom confers power, and power confers right.

Often sardonic and mildly impatient with those less intelligent than herself, she is capable of charm and grace when she deems it advantageous. Having something of an aristocrat’s soul, and having spent many years with the upper echelons of House Telvanni, she is unused to dealing with the commons, and has a rather high-handed approach to dealing with those she deems her inferiors, which certainly doesn't generally endear her to the masses.

She is, however, highly educated and capable of academic discourse on a variety of arcano-technic subjects - and will regard highly anyone who can keep up with her. Since this generally means other Telvanni wizard-lords, that's a rather limited subset.

[/b]Major Skills:[/b]

• Conjuration – a summoner with a particular aptitude for Winged Twilights and Golden Saints, the mysteries of binding and calling magics are as clear as day to her.

• Destruction – her particular specialties are the sizzling charges of shock spells and the deathly, implacable grip of frost bolts. Fire spells are next to useless among the Dunmer, as she well knows.

• Mysticism – skilled in the arts of the realms unseen, she bends the very world to her whim. Her particular skill – due to her experience in tonal mapping with Telvanni towers – lies in reflection spells.

Birthsign: The Mage

Ability: Fay

Equipment

Significant Equipment:

• Telvanni’s Chalice – the only one of House Telvanni’s relics that survived the destruction of Port Telvannis, Venira grabbed it from Rilvin Dral’s table in Port Telvannis’ tower, Tel Thenim, during the cataclysm that wiped out the city. It appears as an ornate drinking vessel stamped with House Telvanni’s symbol, and used to carry a powerful purging enchantment. Currently, though, it’s cracked and useless as anything other than a symbol.

• Spore Case – the most tangible evidence of Venira’s former profession amongst the old House Telvanni, this is a hard lacquer case containing carefully-stored and preserved wizard-tower spores of several standard varieties, along with some tangible results of her experimentation, including the custom-germinated spore that is the culmination of her researches.

History

Venira was born and raised in the Telvanni Isles, and, like most there with aptitude for magick, joined House Telvanni, under the patronage of one of the masters who ruled the Isles from their fortified towers, studying the intricate flows of magicka from the Gates of Aetherius and into the world of Mundus, how best to twist those shimmering tides to produce the best effects.

She was quickly found to be a competent summoner – in fact, when one of the other apprentices in the tower sought to remove competition, he found himself instead the removed, gutted on the claws of a Winged Twilight. Her passion and greatest skill, however, lay in the realms of academia, in those areas whose spells had little practical value beyond a few specialised applications.

Venira has secured her advancements in House Telvanni through several methods – for starters, she’s no fool or stranger to intrigue and poison. Her primary fallback, however, was the powerful patronage of many masters that she secured, and the fiendish complexity of her primary field of interest – the wizard-towers of the House. She has also been noted by other Telvanni to have a certain ‘tiresome regard’ - in their words - for Azura’s Winged Twilight servants and Sheogorath’s Golden Saints, and is especially proficient at calling them forth from Oblivion, for both long and short periods.

By her own admission, she was ‘tower security consultant’ to Rilvin Dral, the Archmagister of mainland House Telvanni and the master to Tel Thenim. In practice, that position meant she was responsible for the new growths of Tel Thenim and the expansions and maintenance of all of Port Telvannis. She had published several in-house books and scrolls on the intricacies of spore-care and the growth of towers, many of them considered seminal works in the field.

She was perfectly content to be an academic Magister-Errant, tied down only by her consultancy to the Archmagister and the study of the triumph of Telvanni arcane engineering that was Port Telvannis, and also had command of the spore facilities deep below the tower, being involved in the quest to improve the great organisms that sheltered her House. Her spore case is the only remnant of all that research to survive; all the rest of it is buried under the collapsed ruins of Tel Thenim under fathoms of water.

She escaped from Port Telvannis in true Telvanni style; seeing the tsunami racing closer from the boiling Red Mountain, she flung herself from the tower-top, summoning Winged Twilights to bear her to safety far from the destruction, leaving her Archmagister to save himself – if he could.

This is not to say, however, that she lacks the cut-throat and ruthless nature of many Telvanni – long years in that House, defending herself and her research from all comers have taught her well, and she sees the destruction of Morrowind as a tragedy, yes, but also a golden opportunity for her House as well as for the entire Dunmer race.

So begins...
