Danny Gregory

Loving father and beloved teacher

0 · 139 views · located in New York, 2033. Continues Throughout America

a character in “Necropolis”, as played by dig17

Description

177 lb. and 5'10''. Wears a reproduction Civil War infantry jacket, a white button-up shirt, blue jeans, and scraggly tan worker's boots; one bandolier around his torso.

Personality

Tough, but gentle, like leather. He appreciates fine things, but won't put up with inadequacy, indecency, or stupidity, especially in these harsh times. Witty and intelligent; easy to get along with, but hell-bent on keeping his kids safe.

Equipment

When the bombs drop, he is caught in his reenacting gear: an 1861 Springfield .58 caliber muzzleloader, a LeMat percussion revolver, cap box, cartridge box, rucksack, haversack, bayonet, and uniform. In his car, he has his regular civilian clothes and plenty of books.

History

Danny grew up an intellectual who loved doing stuff. His primary goal in life was to learn and to impart knowledge to others, leading to his career as a high school history teacher. On the side, however, he could be found riding mountain bikes, playing Hockey, and reading every book in sight. Danny is a smart man; he is one of the most distinguished teachers in his school, covering most social sciences and physical education when needed. He eventually fell in line with a military reenacting group that portrayed impressions between 1855 and 1991 (IE Civil War through Gulf War), and co-owns a gun shop that is typically operated by his best friend, Riley James. He is a caring, outgoing individual with a deep commitment to his kids, Riley and Jen, and after the death of his wife, it only solidified. Danny refrains from anything that could have him looked down on. He doesn't drink, smoke, curse, or generally say 'I hate' ever. He is sometimes considered too content of a person to actually exist, but he knows he is just doing things the way he wants them to be for his kids. He is also the town gun nut, due to his Class 3 firearms license (I.E. fully automatic weapons and tactical explosive devices) and owns several guns; he sometimes sells (legally, of course) his weapons to the townsfolk when they are in need of a reliable saddle-gun or coyote-killer or general plinker gun.

The President has been escalating live speeches recently on the ever-threatening state of foreign relations with Russia. Danny, with his ever-faithful positive attitude, assumes it will all work out diplomatically, like it always did when he was a child. With the threat of war looming over their heads, now is the time more than ever to remind Americans where they came from. In a very special event in Central Park, his unit, the 2nd Colorado Volunteer Infantry, has been asked to put on a reenactment in a shady attempt to bolster patriotism. With several hundred thought to appear in attendance, it's the perfect place to display their nation's history and remind them who they are. All that really matters to him is that his kids will be on the sidelines, cheering him on and under the watchful eye of Riley.

So begins...
