Shadow Island

Destiny walked down the pavement, counting the cracks in it as she went. She had done this since she was a kid, it helped her to focus on something other than the real world, helped her to continue walking, even if what she was walking to wasn't the most pleasant. She hadn't been planning to meet up with Taika again, not after what happened to her cousin Khalida. It wasn't like Destiny had meant for Khalida to get kidnapped by the Shadow Towners, it had just... happened. Okay, she hadn't exactly ran to the rescue, in all honesty, she had actually ran away, but it still didn't make it her fault - did it? According to Taika it did. It wasn't as if Destiny had called the Shadow Towners to kidnap Khalida, it had been completely and accident!

Turning the corner, Destiny spotted her cousin. Her arms folded, right foot tapping impatiently and her head held high, Taika definitely didn't look in a good mood. Her long blonde hair framed her perfect face. It was literally perfect. She had never had a spot, never been sun burnt, never been scratched, her face was literally perfect in that way. Destiny couldn't help but sigh, she had tried so many times to look as beautiful as Taika, but always failed. Even though she too had long blonde hair, she just couldn't pull it off the way Taika did. Her cousins glanced in her direction, her piercing blue eyes lcking with Destiny's hazel ones. Destiny smiled hesitantly and Taika returned it with a glare.

"You're late," She snapped.

"Actually, I think you're early," Destiny retorted.

"Don't try to be your funny self, Destiny, cause it's not working," Taika's eyes trailed up and down Destiny before she pulled a disgusted expression.

"Something wrong?" Destiny asked, trying to keep the annoyance she felt out of her tone.

"I'm just glad I'm not as ugly as you," Taika said, smiling sweetly as if she hadn't just offended Destiny, "Anyway, did you bring it." Destiny's grip tighter over the object she was meant to give to Taika, the only question was should she? She had been over this a hundred times in her head, yet she still didn't know what to do. Taika frowned, holding out her hand, waiting for Destiny to hand the object to her.
