Setting
Education at Maligna is more of a test to see what you can do. Students take short courses through which they are tested before having a rank slapped on them. Most students only spend five months here before being given a rank and a job. Much longer than that and you will likely be killed for your incompetence.
The only thing one must do before they can enter the school is pass a brief screening in which hopefuls are asked to give a small demonstration and answer a few questions.
Almost anyone with any level of skill is let in.

Xiu-(zoo)-The highest rank only given to warriors chosen by the Great King himself.
Zito(z-toe)-high ranking warrior, authority over many armies
Cano(can-o)-middle ranking warrior, authority over one army
Feni(fen-e)-low ranking warrior

~These members are the right hand men/women to the Great King. The Great King himself is the only one that holds authority over them. The Great King has to choose them, for whatever reason. All Xiu are given a mark on their bodies to symbolize their rank. It is common, however, for a Xiu to call himself a Zito and take up a normal job as well.
Seeker (Cano and Feni)
~A Cano with the job of Seeker seekes out the box of Blin. As they rule over a large group of Feni, they also take on the role of seeker.
Expos (Zito)
~Usually only Zito are given the job of Expo, as it is a job best done alone. They are spies, hunters of the Sun Defenders. Most Zito with this job don't have direct subordinates, but any with the title of Zito can pull rank on Cano and Feni to fit their needs.

~A tener is a student trainer. They spend most their time at Maligna testing noew recruits. They are also the ones who give them their starting rank. A Cano in this position has duties elsewhere too, but a Zito ca choose to wherather or not they have other duties.

Maye was frozen in horror as she watched Yuta's powers spike and send shockwaves of pain to Hailom's neck. She nearly lets out a squeak of fright but covers her mouth in time to prevent it. Yuta toys with Hailom some more and she couldn't stand seeing the blood that was running down his neck so she carefully looks away, when Yuta asks her to help him, "No, I'll have him cleaned up and rested quickly." She replies a bit too eagerly, leaping down to Hailom's side. Though painful she looks at the puncture wounds, they were shallow for the most part and no major arteries had been hit. Working around the collar would not be easy which gave her an idea, "Can I take the necklace off of him while I clean it and his neck?" Maye looks to Yuta curiously, her eyes full of a cuteness that most wouldn't turn down.

Yuta nods and starts to wlak out the door, past Hailom and where Maye now kneeling next to him. But at her words he stops and slowly turns back to look at Maye at her words. He met her eyes and a kind expression came to his face. It wasn't the look in her eyes that got him to give the answer she wanted. It was because it wouldn't matter if he wore it in his current condition, especially if he wasn't around to activate it. The other was because he had come to like the Maye he saw. "You will better be able to clean them both that way." He nodded and the bloodied fur and steel collar slackened enough that it could be removed. "Take good care of them." He said lightly as if both Hialom and the collar had equal value. With that he turn around and headed back down the hallway to get something to eat.

Hailom kept his fear and hate filled eyes locked on the stone floor. He was trembling slightly with a combination of fear, anger, and exhaustion. He didn't look up at her, nor did he really know how to respond. Maye had his so confused he didn't know who the real her was. She had sounded sincere earlier, but she as also sincere now. He swallowed thickly after a long pause. Finally he whispered a reply. "I don't know. You confuse me." He confessed, not able to come up with anything other than his true feelings. "And I can't trust someone I can't understand." His soft voice trailed off, but it was the most sincere tone he had taken in a very long time. He was hurt, scared, and felt just like a little child. He was still full of hate, but the wall seemed to have given way and let other emotions return to him. The ones that he had locked away so desperately many years ago.

Hailom stared at the floor, listening to and wanting to believe Maye. But the larger part of him was still wary and un-trusting of her. Time and lots of patience would be the only way to earn his trust. Maye's utterance of the words Yuta and pet in the same sentence had two effects on Hailom. He clenched his fists on his knees in frustration and made his heart twist in remembrance of his past. "But that's what I am." Hailom said, voice trembling. He didn't respond to any of her other words but his painful past brought a rageful sorrow surging through Hailom. "I have been Yuta's pet for four long years. And unlike you I can't become more than that." His quiet words were filled to overflowing with his frustrated anguish. He knew that even with his powers he wouldn't ever be given a rank. He would be Yuta's pet, even in battle. He hated this truth, but he didn't explain this to Maye. For fear she wouldn't understand.

"I'm sorry." Hailom repeated quietly, not looking up at her. He stared at the stone floor for a long moment before he finally found his voice and spoke up. "I just got caught up in the past." His tone was hollow and he still didn't answer her question. He didn't feel alright, in any sense of the word, but he didn't know how to explain his feelings in words. But finally he looked up at Maye's worried face and for the first time, was sure her worry wasn't an act. However there was a long ways to go before he would truly trust her.

Hailom was a bit taken aback by Maye's words. He had just done something inappropriate and she was more worried about how he felt. His heart twisted, maybe there was more to her than a cruel suck up. He remained deep in thought, trying to figure out how to answer Maye's question. He barely even noticed that she had taken the bloody collar and gone to wash it off. When she returned Hailom looked up, smelling the wet dog scent, but ignoring it. HE swallowed, finally answering her question with one simple statement. "It hurts." Though it may not have seemed like much of an answer it took a lot for Hailom to just admit that he was in pain.

Maye smiles, Hailom had responded so at least she knew he had some feeling. "Was that so hard?" she sighs, "I know I've allready told you this, but you need to relax." Maye says offering him her hand. "Come on you can stand can't you? You should probably get back in bed even though it reaks of Yuta's horrible stench." She tries to joke and improve Hailom's attitude. She wished there was something more she could do about his pain but for now she figured a caring and positive attitude around was something he needed.

Hailom nodded, it had been really hard for him to say those simple words. Though for some reason it felt good to finally say that he was in pain. "Relax?" he whispered to himself, the meaning of the word was something Hailom wasn't familiar with. He turns his gaze to Maye's extend hand before taking it in silence, she was right about needing rest. Though her joke about Yuta's stench made his empty stomach turn.

Hailom frown to himself, slightly disappointed that his legs hadn't been able to hold him up. He was thankful to Maye for her help, but he wouldn't admit it. He was practically carried back to Yuta's silky bed. He was still pondering what relax meant, even with Maye's attempt to explain it, he wasn't entirely sure what such a thing was. Rest, like sleeping or taking a short break when ones' body couldn't take it anymore, didn't quite make sense to him. Calming down, after a fight or other intense situation, made the most sense to him. He didn't understand at all what she had meant by chill.
Other than the pain that throbbed through him, he was lost trying to figure out what exactly Maye was telling him to do. Her simple question brought him back. Blinking he turned to look at her with his red eyes. "Yeah." He replies vaguely, he was much more comfortable here than on the floor.

"That's good." Maye smiles and yawns, "I'm tired so I'm going to sleep on the strange furry couch. Please promise me you'll sleep to and not run away while I'm sleeping. If you do that I won't ask him to hurt you again." she sighs. Maye regreted asking Yuta to test the collar so much she really wanted to make it up to Hailom. She hangs the collar on a door handle so it dries while they sleep. It had been a painful first morning for Maye and she needed a nap so she curls up on the couch.
