Lirienne, however, is not easy to live with. Though it is not quite OCD, Lirienne insists that certain elements of the house she lives in stay a certain way, and she will quickly become sulky if things aren't to her liking. This means that toothbrushes must be put in their holders in the bathroom, and the surfaces wiped after making a meal in the kitchen. She also takes great pride in her body, and will not put anything into it that she deems wrong. She is a vegetarian, and has never smoked or enjoyed more than half a glass of wine. She jogs to keep herself physically fit, and also spends way too much time on her hair and make up. Lirienne could be described as a perfectionist, however she really just seeks control in most elements of her life.

Lirienne is a Parisienne. Growing up in the bright lights and inescapable culture of her beautiful city, the young French girl had a large family consisting of her mother and father, four older brothers, and two sisters. The large family meant that she often vied for the attentions of her parents, but they adored her nonetheless. Her household was one made up of organised chaos, and Lirienne, or Lirry as her siblings called her, often craved just a little bit of organisation to smooth out her day. As a child, she learned ballet, and was quite good at it until the attentions of her male friends at school around the age of thirteen became a distraction.
Although Lirry would never allow anything serious to occur between herself and her suitors, she became very good at playing the game and leading them on, always with the best of intentions. She simply liked the attention. When she was sixteen, she moved with her parents to the UK, where she stayed for a year in London, before retuning to France to a small village in the middle of nowhere. This displeased Lirienne greatly. There was no nightlife, and nowhere to go, so she became a teacher, and began to settle down a little. She secured herself a nice guy, and they were engaged for two years before, at the age of twenty one, Lirienne found that she couldn't go through with a relationship in which she didn't love her partner. She called it off three weeks before the wedding, and, since then, has been profoundly and monumentally bored with her life, until the letter arrived.
