Introduction
The Innkeeper closed the book, the children's faces telling the entire story. Some were happy, some were sad, but they all had one question. "Why did the Hero have to die?" It was a question a simple old woman could not answer. Nor could any of the Inn patrons, most listening in on the story as they remembered their own favorite childhood tale. The old woman stood up and placed the book back on the shelf, promising the children each a piece of candy if they obediently went to bed for their parents right after. The kids happily nodded in agreement, much to the delight of the patrons seeking freedom from the young ones. As the old woman reached into a jar behind the inn counter, a loud noise could be heard in the distance. The light from lit torches and roars of creatures never seen in this land before froze everyone with fear. The old woman backed up against the wall, ordering the patrons to make their way out the back. Some listened, but others stayed to question what was coming. The screams of those who tried to escape through the back immediately followed. The old woman hurried the children into a cabinet with a false back, telling them to wait there until she said to come out. A banging was heard on the main door, followed by a thunderous swing from a curved sword that shattered the old door. All those inside could see was a bright, red light, then nothing. From this appeared an average size person, shrouded in blood red robes and wearing a long black chain that connected to half a carving of Isio, the sun of Myr. The outer edge had small black curves, while the center glowed a vibrant orange. Despite their fear, the patrons charged at the person, even against the merciful cries of the old innkeeper. Their bodies scorched one by one as they approached, being reduced to ash in seconds. The Old Woman glared at the shrouded figure, a lone tear drop following down her face. Without uttering a word, she held up her hand and the ground started to quake. The shrouded person panicked, only to be met with several spikes emerging from the wood floor below. Hardened earth made as sharp as a blade pierced right through their chest, blood dripping down along the spikes edge. The old woman breathed heavy, falling to the ground. In her age and rust, such a feat took everything out of her. She closed her eyes, knowing that eventually the others would appear to kill her, but at least she got one, she though to herself. This thought was interrupted by a merciless laughter, as the once lifeless body of the shrouded figure arose. With a simple flick of their fingers, the old woman set fire as well, but unlike the others, it was slow and the woman's screams echoed throughout the once lively room she had called home. The shrouded figure approached her, the charred remains baring not the item they had been expecting. Hastily searching the inn, the person came across the false back of the inn. Moving on the figure searched the book shelf, finding the book read to the children earlier. 'The Hero' was engraved on the cover, reflecting the light from the fireplace in its letters. Carefully opening to the first page, the figure repeated what was written...
To my dear Aunt Mephilia,
Thank you for the necklace you gave me before I left. I am sending this book as proof that I haven't forgotten the story of my youth that inspired me to take this journey. I hope to see you and the children from the orphanage the next time I am in Juri. I will never forget how you took me and the other orphans in when no one else wanted us.
Hope to see you soon,
--------
The figure repeated the name to itself before shutting the book and putting their robe. The children stayed as quiet as possible. The sound of the figure leaving caused them to breath a brief sigh of relief, only to hear the sound of a terrible voice shouting "Burn Everything!" before a blinding light overwhelmed them.
The burning of Juri occurred a week ago. You are a traveler passing by, someone who had relatives there, or just someone who felt drawn to the scene. Regardless, High King Meric has put out a bounty on whoever can find those responsible. 50,000 gold pieces, enough to never have to crawl in an old ruin again kind of money. A caravan of Mercenaries known as Gray Frost is offering a share to all those who want to join them in the hunt for the culprits. Their Leader, Marlin Selius seems to have information that no one else is privy to. So you are going to him for your lead. Are you seeking vengeance? riches? or just the chance to dish out some old fashion justice? Whatever your reason, you are now in the hands of Gray Frost, and they are the type of friends that make enemies seem pointless. Good Luck.
To all planning to play a female role! I need someone to play the girl who sent the book. She will be from a small village named Juri and must be human. Beyond that you can make her how you like. Keep in mind this person is crazy important to the plot, so don't eff up.
Myr try to stay with me on this. Myr is a realm that exists within the void. Based on Myrian belief, several planes exist within the void, with Myr, its stars, its moons, and its sun. Its is believed that Ariil, the realm of the Gods, exists outside of the connected realms, beyond them if you will.
However, our story begins on Sola, a major continent on Myr's surface.
Sola
Lor and Hyr are the moons of Myr. Isio is its sun.
The Gods are Keliano, Lorek, Aerie, Othelle, Fenryir, and Vatolik. Fenryir, by Myrian beliefs, is the leader of the Gods.
Magic is divided into several categories. incantations are not required, but spells do take a toll on the person casting them. They can range from the useful, like creating fire. To the obscure, like summoning fish in a University Hall. Or the evil, like raising the dead, or using them to predict the future. Things like illusions and enchanting are also commonplace among those with the knowledge and/or affinity to magic.
Government is ruled by High King Meric. Meric's word is law in Sola, but he is advised by a Council of 12, two from each major city on the mainland.
Races in Sola are generally human. However, Ash Elves, Dwarves, and Noble Elves have a strong presence on the continent. Ash Elves have a gray skin pigmentation, usually have red or black eyes, and tend to live over two hundred ears. Dwarves tend to live 500 or more years (the rest about them is common knowledge). Noble Elves tend to have fair pr pale skin, bright eyes, and can live close to 600 years.
