Egan is a genius, literally. He's 15 and going into grade 12. He plans to either go into law or criminal studies.
Egan is quiet, shy, insecure, but wickedly smart. He has a tendency to ramble about unimportant things if he talks at all. He's very quiet at first but once you get to know him, he opens up a bit more. He's gay but hasn't had a serious relationship. He wants to go to Oxford University after graduating or Harvard Law. He likes romance but he would never let anyone know that. He's extremely guarded and distrustful--everything has always been a competition for him. Although he's quiet and reserved and extremely dedicated to his studies, he also wants to try new things and live "a normal teenage life" with friends, drugs, alcohol, sex and love. However, he's never really had the chance but he's hoping he might now.
Books, glasses, and a tie.
Egan is a twin, his brother Asken is the polar opposite of him: football player, barely graduated high school. Their parents were killed in front of them when they were kids, hence Egan's career choice. They were adopted by Ava Henderson a year later (when he was 12) When Ava realized that Egan was smarter than those his regular age, she did an IQ test on him and it turned out his IQ was 165. Egan's parents had never really paid attention to his smarts and neither did his teachers so he was never really challenged in school. Ava immediately changed that and helped him skip grades 7 and 8 so that he could actually be challenged.
Egan's major problem in his life is his eating disorder. He's a perfectionist and holds extremely high standards for himself and he never fully lives up to them. He was never much of an eater, usually too distracted by a book to remember to eat, but when he was 13, he started obsessing over weight and food. Now at 15, he's anorexic and it's getting worse.
