A Saucy Piratical Minx
Nynette is generally easy to get along with, if you can put up with the occasionally screaming of swear words, or an unintentional elbow to the gut. Touretteās Syndromeāll do that, you know. She has a combination of coprolalia (the spontaneous shouting of obscenties) and the movement-related twitches that stereotye Touretteās.
Prior to shouting out or twitching, Netta scratches at her left forearm, just above the little bump on the wrist that denotes the joining of the ulva to the hand. Within ten to thirty seconds after doing this, she will exhibit either twitching or coprolalia.
She generally seems to be silently laughing at you. Sheās almost haughty, but not quite. Not much of the ābetter than youā attitude. More of a coiled-snake impression in the attitude department, if you get my drift. She will not hesitate in a fight ā she loves it too much. Too much for her own good, really.
She is a skilled swordslady, often being found practicing if sheās on late night watch. Like Puss In Boots but with a French twist to her vocabulary. She prefers to fight with a rapier, as the lightweight blade doesnāt tire her as fast. However, she is capable of fighting with anything up to a falchion. But the rapier is still her favourite. Touch it, and expect to lose at least three fingers, if not your hand. Swordplay serves as a distraction from the Touretteās, and she has yet to twitch in mid-parry. Shouting obscenities is fine, though. (I promise to star these out!)
Netta is a rather good adapter to situations, but not to seasons. She prefers to sail in the warmer latitudes, rather than the colder ones. Youād think, that being French, she would be at home in cold weather. Well, thatās what they say about Canadians too, and look how wrong that is. Snow is nice, but only when itās falling. Not when itās on the ground.
She mostly keeps her problems to herself ā she hates being the centre of emotional attention. If that happens, she feels as though people are only paying attention because sheās made them, and not because they truly care.
Weapon: Rapier - four-foot blade of Toledo steel, with a basket hilt
Nynette's 'condition' caused something of a panic in her home in France. Her parents were influential members of society, and to have a daughter that randomly exploded with obscenities was NOT done in society. Her Touretteās began showing up at around age seven, and she would shout expletives picked up from the workers her father employed. Things finally escalated when she was fourteen, the night after her older brother Marcel's wedding. Her father was upset with her for having a fit of coprolalia during the reception, and her mothers refused to intervene. Nynette ran off, going down to the docks, and stowed away on a ship. She was found and taken in by by a man named Alistair McCauley, who taught her how to use a sword, and soon learned to be a piratess, where the swearing fit right in.
