An ambitious, female cop living in the 1920s, determined to claw her way up the ranks of the NYPD.
Polina is a girl that simply refuses to be ignored. She's fearless and daring to the point of recklessness, most of her endeavors bordering on just plain stupid. But then, considering her gender, such tasks are often necessary for her to merely gain the acknowledgement of her peers. Unsurprisingly, she's a stubborn little thing; when Polina sets her sights on something, she is not easily swayed. Socially, she can be quite charming, and even known to flirt on occasion. Put simply, it's rather impossible not to be intrigued by Polina.
Polina rarely goes anywhere without her badge and gun, so proud is she of her profession. She also usually keeps a notepad and pen on her, ready to take notes on a case if need be.
While her sister, Karen, and brother, Marty, set off for the Big Apple at a young age, Polina was perfectly content with her simple life back in Virginia. Or at least that was what she told her parents. But truthfully, the whole place had always been rather dull and unexciting to her; the only reason she stayed was because she didn't have the heart to leave her parents so soon after both their eldest children had left. But by the age of 22, she was beyond tired of being her daddy's little girl. She left for New York in the spring, to work as a cop. Of course, the police department was skeptical of her at first, considering her gender. But, with her dedication and ambitious nature, Polina has managed to prove herself competent, and is now chasing the seemingly impossible aspiration; to become a detective.
