Description

Ravenlock
Image
*I did not create this image, virus-AC74 of deviant art did.

Name: Aubrey Dieter Felbrich
Alias: Ravenlock, Raven
Height: 6'2
Weight: 180 lb.
Race: Human
Species Vampire

Physical Description:

Aubrey is an imposing individual with a dark demeanor that he makes little effort to conceal. Well toned build, dark hair, crimson eyes and a dominating height of six foot two only further this perception and even his wardrobe consisting almost exclusively of worn black leather does little to dissuade people of this notion. He frequently wears clothing that leave his chest and arms bared to reveal the intricate lacework of tattoos adorning his figure.

Abilities:

  • Superhuman Strength and Agility: Aubrey is capable of superhuman feats of strength and agility, as well as superhuman reflexes, including his ability to perceive and react to things faster than the human mind is capable of.
  • Superhuman senses:
  • Regeneration: Aubrey is fully capable of regenerating from even the most extensive of injuries. Decapitation, dismemberment and even incineration only serve as temporary inconveniences by forcing him to take on a form of mist or shadow until he can reform. A full regeneration requires fresh blood to regain his strength.
  • Shadow Manipulation:
  • Hypnosis: To hypnotize someone, Aubrey requires maintained eye contact. The hypnosis results in the victim falling into a haze of devotion.
  • Shape-Shifting: Aubrey can shape-shift into a number of forms, including wolf, mist, shadow and swarms of bats or rats.
  • Mind-Reading: Aubrey can glean the surface thoughts of those around him, though to delve deeper he must drink the blood of the victim.
  • Sixth Sense: Aubrey has a sort of sixth sense that allows him to see things beyond his normal range of vision.
  • Phasing: Aubrey can phase himself through solid objects.
  • Levitation:

Equipment:

  • Tattoos: Covering his arms and much of his torso, these tattoos serve to bind Aubrey's powers. Only a direct descendant of the one who bound his powers can unbind them again.

So begins...

Pulling the syringe free from his back, Ravenlock crushed the container. Brushing his hands together, he let the pulverized pieces fall to the floor and rather than attacking the woman again, he simply stepped towards her, holding his hands to either side as if offering her a shot with the crossbow.

The deep rends from the hunters dog had ceased to heal closed as the bacteria spread through his body taxing his regenerative properties. The discomfort was rapid and he rolled his head a touch as if trying to shake off the affects of the poison as it ate through all it crossed paths with.

“Interesting,” he stated simply.

"Good to know it's working on you," said the woman, pulling the trigger, aiming for his head, hoping to finish the target a bit faster than intended. Whatever left would be taken to a lab, stuck into a tube, and stored away, just like many of the more powerful vampires that had crossed path's with some of the best slayers they had. Jaeda was not one of them, but she did pretty well, in their opinion.

Dog's more human sense of the world came through, eventually, and the werehound walked forth on two legs. However, they paused. The pain suddenly hit much worse than it should have in the form he was in, and he began to shrink, hair receding.

Ravenlock cracked another grin at Jaeda's words before the hunter pulled the trigger on her crossbow. The bolt struck true and the vampire would stand motionless for a moment before slumping to the ground, blood rapidly pooling from his injuries that had ceased to regenerate thanks to the application of the bacteria to his system.

For his reputation and notoriety, he had certainly succumbed to the lone hunter with remarkable ease, a disappointment perhaps.

As Ravenlock dropped to his knee's, the crossbow lingered for a moment more before lowering. "Well," the hunter laughed, "That was easy." She looked to Dog, who had long since turned back human, gripping his jaw gently as he crumpled to his knees.

Jaeda took out a thin mobile, sighing. "I want a retrieval team and a medic. We've got him. He's down." she spoke, keeping her eyes on the vampire warily.

For several long minutes, nothing seemed to occur. However, as that time wore on, that strange black mist was beginning to seep from the remains of the body, soaking into the ground along with much of the pooled blood until there was little more left aside from a large blood stain across the street.

The mist itself was making its way towards the body that Diane had left in a nearby alleyway, slipping back up from beneath the ground to soak into the corpse. The presence of fresh blood so near on hand was a rare accommodation that would not go to waste.

The entire process in itself would take but a few moments as the mist took solid form once more, leaving nothing more than a dried husk at Ravenlock's feet. Stepping out from the alley he straightened his coat out with pointed flare and offered a smirk. He appeared unharmed in the slightest, his bared skin unmarred by the attacks upon his person.

“Had quite enough fun yet?” he inquired.

"...scratch that. He's come back. I might need backup." she said, clipping the mobile closed. She seemed very shocked aside from her calmed movements. How, how, how!? How the hell did he regenerate so fast? Surely, he wasn't another blasted Dracula! She could not deal with this, not her. Blast it, why!

However, she had to at least keep him in place until the others came. Slayers much more advanced than herself. She drew out the shock pike from her back pocket, extending it into a long metal rod. "You know what? I don't think I've learned." she said, spinning the object in her hand.

Dog backed up, hopefully to behind a shack, out of the way in his pain. Even with it blinding him the slightest bit, he could not be a hindrance. Possibly turn once more, try to help where he could.

“Tsk, tsk.” Ravenlock scolded lightly as he spread his arms to either side.

In what seemed like a gust of wind and shadow, his form was overtaken by a swarm of bats that flew at Jaeda in a frenzy of scratching claws and biting teeth. It would be hard to take note, but in the rush of the swarm, it would seem that Ravenlock himself had vanished. Either that, or he was the swarm of bats.

The frenzy would last only a moment as the swarm swept past and headed skyward, and any injuries inflicted would be superficial scrapes and cuts.

Meanwhile, a voice echoed through Jaeda's mind, before fading off into a low chuckle until that too was gone. 'We will meet again, hunter.'

The human had amused him, if only briefly. But he had other matters to attend to.

The woman readied herself, imagining what punishment would befall her before the other slayers came. Her grip was on the pressure bar, ready at a moments notice. However, what she did not expect him to do was flee. It was sudden, and as the swarm came at her, she knew the shock pike would do nothing to kill them all. She shielded her arms in front of her face, tucking her head into the side of her shoulder as she was enveloped in black.

As suddenly as it came, it had gone, leaving Jaeda cringing before looking up, silence descending upon her before Ravenlock's voice wormed itself into her mind. She looked up at the sky, watching the frenzy disappear just as the yells of the other hunter pierced the air.

This was a busy side of town, though honestly, it was the better side of town, as well. The streets were clean, especially from the destruction that often occurred upon Main Street, and Gambits was as far away as it needed to be. The apartments were nice, as well, and the hunter had found herself buying one after she had happened upon this street long ago.

It was pleasant, filled with windows to light the room, and curtains to block eyes she might not want. The apartment could fit two people comfortably, which was only reserved for Dog when he needed to stay over. Those occasions were rare, but they happened.

Jaeda was in the kitchen, leaning onto the counter as she waited for the eggs to cook. It was a simple, quick meal. She did not care for something extravagant, especially since her thoughts were quite far away.

Seeping along the floor an inky black substance crawled its way towards Jaeda's position, silent and unobtrusive in nature. As it reached her shadow a pair of eyes opened within it, to peer up at the woman, but it wasn't until she turned back to her cooking that he made his move. Rising up out of her shadow was a thick black mist that slowly gathering substance and form.

“...Hello...” he mused from just behind her.

His voice was calm and low, menacing almost, and yet soothing at the same time. It was a strange mingle of hostility and gentleness. Though, should the woman attempt any sudden moves, he was more than poised to act. As long as she remained still though, he made no move to touch her.

Fear was something Jaeda did not often feel, even in the face of death. She dealt with it so often that it almost seemed too commonplace a thing. However, the voice that crept up slowly to her ears had the hair on the back of her neck standing up. She froze, never turning her head. She did not need to. It was apparent enough who it was.

After the wave of fear left, she began to casually flip the eggs around, as if she could care less for Ravenlock's appearance. "Why are you here?" she asked, stiffening. "Come for revenge? Aren't you smart."

“Revenge?” he asked, keeping his voice low. Her flippant demeanor while admirable, wouldn't conceal the telltale signs that lay beneath the surface. The tenseness that overtook her, the raise of the hairs on her neck. No, his appearance had the influence he had anticipated, fear.

Though Jaeda seemed well in control of her fears. Good. Fear makes you irrational, and he needed her rational.

“No, I'm here because you're going to do something for me,” he explained.

As he spoke, the scent of the cooking eggs was pointedly distasteful, enough so to turn his appetite for the moment. But he wasn't here to kill this woman, as enjoyable as it might have been to do so, so any violent urges were easily suppressed for the time being.

"That's surprising. I don't know what you would want from a slayer. Got a friend that's getting on your nerves? You should be able to take care of that yourself," she said, turning off the stove and sliding the eggs into a plate beside the sink. She opened a drawer for utensils. Among the normal silverware, there was a sharp, dangerous knife. It would not do much to Ravenlock, but she wondered how much time it would buy her to try and get to the Slayer Organization. Probably not enough. Probably not time at all.

Was she really helpless in this situation?

"I don't see why you are asking me. Maybe a higher up would really get around to killing you?" she said, a light mocking in her voice.

“Seek another, and miss out on the fun we started?” he inquired.

The knives were noted with a grin that flashed the tips of fangs, but he said nothing. Part of him hoped she would take up a weapon and attack him, even if the situation was futile. But business before pleasure as they say.

Rather than answering her former questions, he simply slipped a photo free from within his coat. It was worn and wrinkled and had seen some mileage, but it was recognizable enough. Reaching past Jaedra he leaned close enough to press it against the solid surface of the counter.

With such close proximity, his back was all but touching hers and the faint feel of breath could be felt on her hair. Though surely it was intentional on his part, seeing as the dead didn't need to breathe, correct?

“You will find this woman,” he said simply. His reasons for this search were his own, and not reasons he would share with this hunter.

The photo itself, he would release, to allow her to examine it if she wished. The back had only one word scrawled on it 'Dae'. The woman in the photo was young, late teens or early twenties at best, with a charismatic demeanor of the likes that even a camera seemed to capture.

The urge to pick up a knife and stab him square in the chest was strong. She curled her fingers into her palm, digging them into the skin, careful not to draw blood from the clench. That would be the stupidest thing she had ever done in her life.

As the photo slid by, her eyes moved swiftly to it. Her lips were drawn thin as she felt his breath upon her. With all her will, she held back a shudder.

"And if I refuse?" she asked. She probably knew the answer, but just because she was afraid did not mean she was going to give in. No. She was far too prideful for that. Even the thought of death did not phase her enough to give in.

...or did it? If she could live, she would certainly would keep trying to do so. "Why do you want her?"

Ravenlock lowered his voice further, almost to a whisper as he spoke his next words. “You won't refuse. Not because of threats or out of fear, but because you're intrigued,” he replied.

“What could the infamous Ravenlock want with you? Who is this woman? It is in your nature to find answers,” he whispered as he stepped back, his form seeping down into the woman’s shadow, much in the same manner he had arrived in.

He had planted the seeds of curiosity, now all that remained was to see if they would sprout and bear fruit.

Jaeda did not move from her location for the next few minutes. She stood there, eyes intent on the photo, limbs frozen as she tried to work the situation through her head. What a sly, horrible man this was.

"You try to act as if you know me that well, leech," she said, voice light as she picked up the photo in her fingers, raising it closer to look at it. She gave a light laugh. "Huh. I wonder if you do. I wonder if you expected the 'no' that was already forming on my lips. You're still targeted. I think that was evident."

Even with his apparent departure, she knew he was probably lingering. She knew he was waiting for her next words.

She saw life through different eyes.

Standing atop the very edge of one of the buildings, throwing out her arms to the sky, her head leaned back as she took in every new smell, sight, every new experience. Even the breeze against her skin was something completely different. She filled her lungs with air, and let the breath out through her lips.

A shout behind her alerted the newly made vampire to the presence of her ex-colleagues. With a grin, the woman hopped down from her perch. Twelve stories up. She did not fear the height. No. Quite the opposite. She let out a high squeal- an excited laugh- as she was met with the adrenaline rush. She landed, like a cat, on her feet.

And after that, the woman booked it, watching the Banshee fly through the skies with her swords aglow. She was powerful, but not nearly fast enough to catch Jaeda, the once honored slayer of Hatyara.

In a black bandeau and a pair of pants, the vampire made her way through a made of buildings, melding with the shadows, leaving behind no trace, until the Banshee lost track of her. Oh, that was so much easier than she'd expected, but she had no complaints. Not right now.

She walked down in the side alley, pulling herself away from the shadows, hands moving through her thick, black hair. The minute she'd changed, it had grown out, lost all the white. It was different.

"And so the hunter, has become the hunted," Ravenlock spoke up behind Jaeda, his footsteps echoing in time with her own. "Tell me, hunter, how does it feel," he asked.

They had not spoken in a very long time, but the sultry menace mingled with the low purr that laced his words was a difficult thing to forget.

"Are we all that you thought we were?" he asked, his words thick with mischievous intent.

She whipped around, hair flipping over one shoulder as she locked gazes with...

"...oh, well lookie here," she sang with a grin, taking a step or two back. Was that fear? Perhaps just wariness. "Ravenlock, was it? Ahh, that was quite a while ago that you tried to scare me in my apartment. I don't think I appreciated that at all, but I'm not sure. Memory's a bit foggy." she replied. She folded her arms.

"Everything. Everything and more." she said. "Despicable, but awesome."
