Personality: Reyes is highly intelligent and schooled, he likes people even people he doesnât consider âgoodâ. The heart of a person doesnât interest him as much as how they were forged to be that person, like someone addicted to puzzles, he wants to understand his companions as much as he wants to understand his government. Everything to him is a system of right and wrong, laws, direct or indirect relationships that all comes to form the thing weather the thing is a man, machine, or political system.
Reyes has been traumatized by his parentâs death and the attack on him that ended up with his leg being ruined. He worries, constantly, about the future and how his choices can help facilitate change. While he is a firm believer in peace and negotiation without the need of violence he has lost faith in recent years in his ability to reach peaceful measures. He is afraid much of the world has become too violent to listen and he doesnât want to die walking into another trap unarmed in the name of peace- he prizes heâs far more useful caution and alive then wearing a white star on his coat and dying as an innocent martyr to only fuel more killing. Reyes feels depressed over his lack of control over his world and that he doesnât feel he has any opportunities to do what he feels is right anymore.
Reyes doesnât like violence and refuses to learn any means of self-defense or carry a weapon however he now works for a group that is far from âpeacefulâ. This bothers him but he feels he has no choice.
Reyes can be hypocritical and self-sacrificing to the point of selfishness. He is critical, honest to a fault, and polite but doesnât always say what he means or mean what he says. His heart is in the right place but often times he finds himself lost and is overwhelmed by feelings of helplessness and frustration.
Notes: Reyes is soft spoken and speaks formally even in relaxed settings, he hardly ever swears. He enjoys cooking. He keeps his sexual orientation to himself, fearing rejection from his peers and is extremely careful about expressing interest in the opposite sex until heâs sure his feelings will be reciprocated.
History: Reyes is the only child of a Spanish peacekeeper who traveled all over the world on various humanitarian efforts and joined the International House of the White Bird, a large origination established to fight political corruption around the world and aid struggling nations. His mother, a mild soft spoken woman with pale skin, green eyes, and blonde hair was always a bright star in his life until she was shot down in front of their home. Her killer was never found and after several months of investigation the case was dropped from lack of leads. Reyes always suspected it was a terrorist act against his face and his suspicions were confirmed when six months later his father was killed in a similar fashion- no leads, no suspects, very little evidence. It was labeled an assassination by the government his father fought so adamantly against.
Reyes continued college and graduated with a double major in Political Science [peace & conflict resolution] and Psychology. He joined the International House of the White Bird shortly after but didnât take a figurehead position as his father did. His first task was to meet with a lawyer who claimed to have incriminating information about high ranking members of the government. The meeting turned out to be a government trap and Reyes (even though he hadnât broken any laws was in the company of several members of the IHWB who had) was badly injured as he attempted to flee the building when he tripped and fell down a flight of stairs breaking his leg. He walks with a limp and experiences sharp pains from weather changes due to the metal pins holding his femur steady.
Shaken by the knowledge not only was the government corrupt but the IHWB as well, he broke his ties from both and joined a new opposition group.
