What?

The figure, man, Casren, waved back, getting closer. It was useless responding from this distance. He had only heard half of what they said, and it was muffled. They mentioned temple, he picked that out right away, which is perhaps why he picked up the pace. The rest, harobus? Padodis? What the hell had they said? Either way, they had responded. Casren focused straight ahead, sticking his feet anywhere and everywhere.

Indeed, he wasn't looking when suddenly the man pitched out of sight into the white abyss of snow.

"So close, but not close enough," he mumbled to himself, frowning. "Well, that's annoying. It's always like that, isn't it?" With a smile, Sahlie cheerfully answered, "Naw, I'm one-eighty percent here. Like a train. Always moving forward and all that. Though your...fire thingy was nice. That didn't sound weird at all."

The sudden pause, and he jerked to a stop, almost chain-reaction-bumping into Cinaed. "I bet those wolves I kept talking about will decide to make an appearance right now." However, what appeared wasn't wolves.

It was a humanoid figure. And then it wasn't. Wasn't there, that is. "Uh...is it just me or did that person-thing disappear?"

It was a figure, clearly humanoid.

"Light!" Anaiya's heart skipped a beat as the man disappeared, and she broke into motion, hurrying forwards at as quick a pace as she could safely manage to reach where he had fallen from.

Cináed exchanged a glance with Sahlie before he took off after her. The doctor stopped once she could take a look over the edge to try and ascertain whether the man was gone for good, or if there was something that could be done.

Cináed came up behind her, "Can you see him?" he asked, crouching down to stick his head over the edge and look himself.

Casren had fallen into an extremely wide, not exactly shallow, pit.

It was a legitimate bowl dusted with snow, smooth and made of probably ice. It was most likely a crater pit from a small meteor long ago. A trail from where Casren had slid down on the far side indicated...A tumble.

The man sat at the bottom, lolling back and forth, trying to sit up in his puffy furs and coats. If they listened, he was cursing. Finally, he sat up, and waved both arms.

I'm Alright!
He called up, covered in snow. Looking around, he realized that he was alright, but...Well, a bit stuck. This was a big hole. Pit. Thing.

"That doesn't look too good," Sahlie observed upon reaching the spot where Casren had fallen. As soon as the response came up, though, he was a bit relieved.

Even tricksters didn't want death on their conscious. "Uh," he began, tugging at the collar of his coat, "I don't think he or she is going to be able to climb out and we don't have time to dick around..."

"What I'm saying is, I'm pretty light and not on fire, so if someone has to go down, I'll do it."

Entry 131. I'm not a hero, but trying my hardest.

Anaiya shook her head, "Don't worry, there's no need." she said, pulling her pack off and setting it down on the ground. After a few moments of rummaging she pulled out a hefty length of rope. A short glance around identified a rock she could tie one end to, before she tossed the other down into the hole.

Cináed nodded his head, nudging Sahlie in the ribs. "See that? That's what people who plan ahead do. We should take notes."

"Take hold!" Anaiya called, "And pull yourself up if you can!"

Slowly, he got himself to his feet. It was a task, but he managed to do it.

Thank you!
He called up, waddling towards the rope. Boy was he lucky to find people who knew what they were doing out here! It had been literally two hundred years since Casren had climbed a mountain. Why is he climbing a mountain?

A dream, of course. Were these people climbing with the same cause as he? Should he ask? Gripping the rope, Casren tested it's weight.

Seemed legit.

With all of his force, Casren leaned back on the rope and climbed. One foot, another foot, another foot-He kept having to adjust his hands to account for the berth of the ice bowl.

Halfway up, of course, he slipped, and flew like a pendulum in a wide arc. What goes up must come down. Casren went reeling backwards in the opposite direction, holding onto the rope for dear life and dangling.

Dangling. Whew. Alive. Carefully, Casren regained his footing. One..two..three...He stood. Why the hell did it have to be an icy mountain? One foot in front of the other, Casren slowly made his way towards the lipof the bowl.

Suddenly, the cacaphony of a thousand deadening silences erupted violently across the side of the mountain as the snowfall suddenly hung motionless in the air. The distinct feeling of fear and awe rippled downward from the sky, striking deep into the heart of the mountain below—and so it trembled.

The lightness of the circumstance felt like all the weight of gravity had been lifted. Likewise, the weight of Casren on the rope juxtaposed itself in mid-air—putting him in a precarious position as he had grabbed onto the rope and pulled at that exact moment.

The booming voice of the figure before them had a strangely curled tone, an echo, that spun backwards and landed firmly on the breaking syllables of the words themselves. The bizarre harmony of the voice rattled rock and bone alike, turning hero into coward with the mere utterance of a sound.

With that, the figure—which appeared to have been there all along—vanished as miraculously as it had existed prior, leaving the snow falling to the ground once more, and with it everything that too had been suspended in Zehanpuryu's presence.

In the next moment there was nothing to be thought, no worries to be had. On the threads of reality hung crystalline particles of snow in the air, the very snow that had just been cascading towards Terra with intent. He, too, was suspended. Gravity seemed to no longer exist as they knew it. Casren sit in the air, looking up to the lip of the bowl again. Simultaneously, the deepest fear this vampire could ever experience would awaken deep within his heart. The rope fell slack in his hands, his eyes came to rest on the figure.

The warning came,

It was an ominous echo that rang as loud as it did true. Casren goggled at the dark figure, which was suddenly gone. How long had it been watching them? Casren barely had time to complete the thought before suddenly, he was falling.

He grabbed for the rope in vain, plummeting head over heels backwards, down to the bottom of the bowl. The man didn't even try to brace himself, just flopped down like a rag doll. His coherence was lost somewhere between the thoughts of the dream of the Temple and whatever the hell had just happened.

Flop, Casren again lay at the center of the pit.

Anaiya stepped backwards with an oath, lifting her hand in a religious gesture. "Light preserve me..." she breathed, staring in awe at the figure that had appeared. To her merit, the doctor maintained her composure aside from that brief gasp, placing an arm out as though to shield the two teens behind her. For all her years of interacting with heroes and fighting a war with a shadow that threatened to consume all... she was shaken.

Cináed's jaw had dropped, despite there being no gravity - the gravity of the situation enough to bring it down. The unnaturally resonating voice had him taking a fearful step back, but something within him ignited his resolve enough for him to stare down the strange figure, quaking though he was. He lifted a hand to trail it through the suspended blizzard in idle wonder.

It was over as quickly as it had begun, and the figure was gone as though it had never been there... despite leaving the distinct impression that it always had, and possibly even still was, just in a much quieter form of 'there'.

The snow began to fall normally again. Cináed was left speechless for a few long moments before he spoke.

"Does... does that normally happen up here? Is that something to do with the temple?"

Anaiya slowly shook her head. "I have never seen that being before, nor heard tell of anything like it." she said softly, almost inaudible over the wind. "The Patronus must hear of this."

"What did it mean?" Cináed asked quietly. The question hung in the air unanswered, as still as the snow had been before.

"Hey, well I'm glad to have to go down there," he commented back to Cináed, grinning. "Don't know what I was thinking, anyway. And yeah, but if I had something to write on, I'd use it to record the journal that I've been substituting for talking to myself. I'm not crazy, I promise."

The teenager crouched near the edge, not far enough to fall over, but just enough to try to catch a glimpse of Casren. There was a light scratching noise and the rope suddenly went taut. That didn't mean well. Quickly, Sahlie was standing and slowly stepping away from the edge when it happened.

There was no real description for what it was. The freezing cold meant nothing as time seemed to slow down. A resounding voice rang throughout the area, and caused the trickster to fall backwards onto his behind, stunned. He strongly contemplated curling up into a ball and whining. Thankfully, by then, some sanity returned and time began to move again.

"I t-think," Sahlie began, taking a second to compose himself and slowly getting up, "that we shouldn't ask questions we don't want to know the answer to."

"Actually, I think we have a more pressing problem at hand." The comment was accompanied with a shrug towards the pit. "Someone's still down there."

Cináed regained his composure enough to follow Sahlie's gesture, peering down into the pit again. "Oh. Damn. I guess the gravity thing must've caught him by surprise."

He looked back at the other teen with a half-smile, "Maybe you're right. But I think I'd be more comfortable knowing what the ominous foretelling of my doom meant, than being totally in the dark."

Anaiya in the meantime tugged a few times on the rope to try and poke Casren with it. "Are you alive down there, stranger?" she called, "Light. One of you will have to climb down after all if he doesn't stir." The doctor grimaced.

A single arm flew up, the flunked back down. Casren was alright, on the outside.

On the inside he was thinking. Running over things in his head. Slowly, he pulled himself up to a sitting position. Snow fell all around him, and under any other circumstance it would be pretty.

With a grunt, he grabbed the rope, and began to ascend again. He went slower and more cautiously, careful not to slip. When he got to the top, he would have to ask them about...That.

Overhead a lone wolf came into view and paused to look down at the trio making their way up the perilous route to the mountain top temple. It made no move to approach the group, but rather it simply stood atop a rocky outcropping far in the distance and watched on.

"Sounds okay to me." Cautiously approaching the edge again, Sahlie knelt far enough back so that even a surprise and falling forward would not cause him to slide down the pit. As Casren made his climb up, he prepared to help the man up and out of the deathtrap.

Of course, that was assuming he didn't fall down again. "And man, I'd rather not know. You learn your destiny and that really fucks your shit up, pardon my french. Haven't you seen the movies? Just leave in it the dark, where it belongs."

A thought crossed hiss mind now, seeing as how the earlier chaos had settled, and he turned towards Anaiya. "So, I know we're on a detour, but how much longer to the temple, do you think?"

I don't quite know,
Casren said, pawing over the side and rolling to his feet. He didn't know what all of that meant, and he didn't know if he wanted to continue on to the temple.

But the dreams.

Catch that as well?
He waved a hand, indicating he meant everything that had just happened. A silly enough question if it had, but he wanted to be sure had his sanity.

Anaiya glanced upwards again, "If the wind and snow were less fierce I would call it two, maybe three hours. As it stands, we will likely be walking till near four - it will be approaching dusk by the time we get there."

Cináed breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing that the stranger was alright and fit enough to climb again. He walked away from the pit to the edge of the trail and sat down on a rock. "I've never put much stock in life being like the movies. Having an idea of what to expect seems... like it can't go far wrong." He laughed, shrugging, "But maybe you're right. All we can do is speculate, anyway."

A wolf caught Anaiya's eye, far in the distance. She narrowed her gaze slightly in thought, but didn't voice anything of what she was thinking. Perhaps her mind was simply occupied with thoughts of the being that had appeared before them only moments ago. When Casren spoke, she looked to him with a nod. "You were not alone in that vision. Something decided to appear to us here, and now. The reason I couldn't begin to guess at. Perhaps it is one of you, for I have made this trip many times before."

Cináed gulped. "That just makes it even more ominous..."
