Description

Sangrei is about 25 years old, and has silver-white hair, cropped short. His eyes are dark turquoise and he stands at about 6 feet tall, but tends to slouch a bit when walking, making him look shorter than he actually is. His body has various scars, mostly nicks and scratches which still left a mark. His most prominent is a healed gash stretching from his left shoulderblade to the middle of his back.

Personality

He's a fun-loving, adventurous and in general nice guy. He's also a huge flirt and prefers crowded places. Sangrei would never describe himself as brave, and tries not to get involved in dangerous situations, but finds himself getting involved nevertheless.

In a fight, his demeanor is more serious. He becomes more analytical and cold, the mindset of a fighter with intent to kill. However, he also has self-restraint, aiming to injure only while intentionally overestimating all his opponents. He will usually try to stop fighting if the other person is about to get heavily wounded or killed.

No matter which way he is, Sangrei tries to uphold his own code of honour. He will never run from a fight that he has engaged in. He will never let a person die by his hands - one of the reason he gets involved in so much trouble; he applies the good samaritan rule. Finally, he'll never go back on his word. He realizes that it is a code that is cliché and a bit dated, but he follows it anyway.

Equipment

The only things that Sangrei carries at all times is his sword, Stahl Schmertz. Stahl Schmertz is a steel broadsword, standard issue from the army Sangrei used to be in. It has seen its share of wear and tear, and has been reforged a couple times. He refuses to abandon the sword out of sentimental value, and it hasn't given up -
yet. Stahl's scabbard carries the weight of his allies; whenever Sangrei loses a friend, he tears a strip of cloth from their clothing and adds it to the wrapping around the sheath.

The only special talent Sangrei has is his sword-fighting training. His is a bit unorthodox, his self-taught style making him unpredictable and wild. His training to overcome his lack of a mentor has made Sangrei slight faster than a normal person, and also stronger.

It looks like she has a silver spiral in his left pupil, the sign he holds an Echo crystal within him. This power allows him to:
Slows the passing of time mentally for a brief period of time - the equivalent of an adrenaline rush.
Allows Carrier to draw on Echo Energy for enhancement, assault, or defense.
Allows Carrier the ability to read the memories of the past.

History

Sangrei rarely tells his full past to anyone. He will only tell a short version to anyone who is not a close friend. Sangrei was a young boy who was drafted into a war. It was there he picked up his battle skills. He survived the war - his side lost - but in the final battle, his sword broke and he was forced to watch his allies slaughtered. In anger and regret, he was forced to grab his best friend's sword and run. Since then, he has been a mercenary, but quit after he obtained enough money get by. Now, he travels around seeing and exploring the world.

Sangrei turned to Brains with a glare that managed to be that, and friendly at the same time. "C'mon, dude. It was ONE time, let it go! And it was partially for my life, too! I mean, she had a gun and everything! Sheesh." As he received his iced tea and took a sip, he grabbed a nearby fork and stole a bit of Milena's tiramisu. He gave her a winning grin, and followed the stolen food down with some more tea. "Sorry, I was hungover about 20 minutes ago, just fought with a giant talking bear and now I'm talking to a beautiful lady. Makes ya hungry. Hope you don't mind. Nice to meet you, Miss Tesla. Milena. I don't care what most people think, but there are exceptions..." He gave a wink and quick nod of his head to her.

As Milena ordered the food for the girl, Sangrei interjected quickly. "Bartender, I'll pay for that. Get some water for her as well." He let out a sigh. "I'm not supposed to be a nice guy..." But he followed Milena anyway to the girl. He pulled the tiramisu to the side, making way for the actual food. "You shouldn't eat dessert before a real meal..." After that, he quietly grabbed a stool next to the two, vaguely reminiscing about his past in the war, but keeping an ear out for anything interesting.

Sangrei heard Wheelie and Brains leaving, snapping him out of his memories. He threw them a quick, "Later, guys!" before realizing that Milena was talking to him. He shot her one of his trademark grins. "You weren't supposed to hear me say that, and shhhh, don't tell." He winked back at her before looking to Alice in her arms and giving a quick two-fingered salute. "I'm Sangrei, and yes that's for you, but you'd best listen to Milena here. I'm no good at taking care of children." His face turned into a bittersweet half-smile. Sangrei had also noticed something under Milena's hair, in her ear, earlier, but figured he'd ask about it later. In the meantime, he watched the rest of bar, pretending not to look at the two next to him, but glancing at them occasionally.

Sangrei glared at Milena as she spoke to him, but changed it to a smile for a split second so she would know he was joking. He turned on the girl, keeping his false glare. "Of course I expected to be payed for my kindness! Gimme that!" He snatched the credit, but gently bumped into Alice, stealthily slipping the girl enough to pay for her next ten meals. He had picked up a few skills that he wasn't proud of, but thankfully, she probably wouldn't notice. He raised the credit to Milena, making sure he couldn't be seen by the little girl, before mouthing 'For luck,' and then, 'don't tell anyone'.

Kiet felt like his face was on fire as Miku brought her face close to his. He tried his best to smoothly move back, giving her another of his small smiles. Kiet nodded, waving over the bartender. "Y-yes, a glass of milk and plate of chicken for the lady here", indicating Miku, "and just a glass of water for me." 'Maybe the water will help me cool down...' He was quietly thankful that she had not mentioned his ridiculous amount of blushing.

Sangrei Friedn had been sitting at a stool, vaguely paying attention when his ears were pierced with a loud sound. He jolted up, looking for the source...and spotted the girl he had met the night before, Alice. Looking angry, at that. He quickly ran over to the commotion, where he also found a decapitated body. "Hey there! I'll take this girl, sorry about whatever happened here." He turned to Alice. "Calm down, shortie. What did you do?"

Sangrei got a look at the dead man before Gina dragged him off. Those had been wounds from some kind of thin weapon..swords wouldn't have made that clean a cut. He assumed that Alice had surprised the woman with her sound. Turning back to her, ruffled her hair a bit. "I didn't mean anything, shorty. C'mon, let's get a drink. Just forget about this for a bit." He jerked his head back towards his stool.

Sangrei ordered a glass of water for Alice, noticing that she still seemed bothered by what happened. He sat her down on a stool, smiling at her. "Drink something, shorty, and stop thinking about it. Remember, you owe me." Sangrei sighed a bit. He really wasn't supposed to be a nice guy. He casually strolled over to the slayer with a friendly grin, who was cleaning the blood off the floor. "Hey there. Sangrei. How's it goin-Was it her fault and who was that man?" He interjected the real question, hoping Alice wouldn't hear from where she was.

Kiet scratched his head, tossing his strangely blue hair before turning back to Miku's general direction. "W-w-well, I-I've n-never actually s-seen something like this b-before. B-but, i-it was s-sparkly, a-and I f-f-figured you'd like i-it.." He placed it in her palm, folding her fingers over it. "B-b-b-besides, if i-it really i-is worth a-a lot, a s-s-stray-not-stray w-would have more use f-for it than a t-t-traveler, r-r-right?" Sangrei Friedn stepped down the stairs, ruffling his white hair. He looked around for any familiar faces, and noticed Arianne Drulovic. However, she seemed to be already occupied, so he figured he'd leave her alone. Instead, he went for the next best thing, any women who weren't already doing something. He noticed Farin, and casually strolled over, plopping down next to her. "Hey there babe, can I get you a drink?" Sangrei gave his a grin, making eye contact so she'd know he was addressing her.
