"And what if I say I want your life, huh?" one of the three other men, gangster types with bandanas and tattoos, smelling like smoke and beer. "Can I have that Mr. Big Shot?"
"Please, I have a wife...and a little girl at home!" the man said, frightened.
Vincent watched with sad eyes as the man up front, the one with a pistol, shot the man. Maybe he thought the innocent man was pulling a gun as he went for his wallet, Vincent would never know, but whatever it was the gangster had fire, single shot, right into the man's face. He actually had to keep from smirking as he noted his partner, and former master, Leon also had a similar mark from where he was assassinated in his past life.
"Well, let's get to work Wolf." Leon said, watching as the men walked off, leaving the body where it lie, the money forgotten. "Maybe this guy won't bother us much. I was in the middle of a nap when I got the call, what about you?"
"Solitare." Vincent answered simply as they made their way over to the body.
They had to wait but a moment before the errie pale blue mist began to rise up from the body, the soul in it's purest form. It was like a wisp of smoke come to life. Soon it stayed still and began to grow, to take the shape of the man it had been only seconds ago. The spirit of the man looked around, suprised that he was standing, then shocked when he realized that he really wasn't/ He began to cry then, and as Vincent reached out to comfort him Leon interupted.
"Sir, you have just died. This is a tradegy, and I am very sorry, but you must move on and leave your old existance behind." Leon said, reciting a loose version of the speech all Reapers had to give to the new spirits. "It is best that you, at this very moment, agree to come with us, the Reapers, to the Other Side, where your soul may find peace and recieveit's final reward or punishment."
Vincent sighed. He hated when Leon did this, but it always seemed to work. A new spirit is often confused and in need of guidnce, and one this fresh may not even remember anything about it's life. And so the spirit simply nodded, frowning, and watched in awe as Leon opened the portal between worlds. together, the two stepped through the gate, and once both were through completely, it snapped shut, as if it has never been, as if Leon no that man's spirit had never set foot on the planet Earth.
"Always leaving me to inform the authorities..." Vincent said, annoyed, as he took off his mask, turning it into a small charm that hung from the chain that connected his useless wallet to his pants, even as they appeared as his cloak dissapeared.
