Introduction

The Earth is no longer the one we know. After many years of nuclear war, the Earth is nothing more but a mass of wastelands and uninhabitable terrain. There are many towns, groups, and colonies of humans all over the remaining landscapes, but the largest and most habitable is the city of Terra Nova.

Around 7 billion people currently inhabit the city, but morality to birth rate is dangerously low, and people no longer have much will to live. Every day life is spent by simply trying to survive. They help build buildings, grow and hunt food, make clothing. No one holds a job any longer, and money hasn't been heard of in almost a hundred years.

Another section of the earth has turned into a fiery wasteland filled with lava, volcanoes, and pits full of poisonous gasses. Another humanoid species came to life there, in the pits of nuclear waste and toxic fumes. They are known as Demons. They look mostly human, but each have animal-like attributes, can survive in the hazardous wastelands, and are able to shape-shift into forms more like their animal attributes. They also have abilities that heighten their senses, speed, and give them healing abilities, allowing them faster recovery time and the ability to hear from small wounds almost instantaneously. While demons have human origins, they are no longer considered that. Originally, they were shunned and ostracized by humans, but were eventually accepted. While most Demons prefer to stay in the harsh environment, some have begun to mingle with the humans, and some have even had children together.

Life is somewhat steady, and some people are even happy. But there is danger lurking around every corner, and the realm of man has become intertwined with the realm of magic and spirits.

Sixty years ago a prophecy was made, saying eight children born of the elements and the animals would be born, and those children were the ones to vanquish the shadows. At the time, no one knew what it meant.

But eight children have been born, four human females, and four demon males, each born with an intricate birthmark on the backs of their necks. The mark symbolizes their bond with one of the four elements, Fire, Earth, Air, and Water. All four of the males and three of the females have been raised in the same building. The three females have grown up together, and know one another well. The four males have done the same. But the female of Earth was never found, and for our story to start, she must be found.

The powers of the eight children stem directly from the elements themselves. Let's talk about the females first. They are all human, and there is one for each element. However, they have no control over their elements at all. The only reason for their existence is to draw upon the raw power of their element, bring it into their bodies, and give it to their partner. The demons cannot do this without the aid of their partner. That being said, the females are a sort of catalyst between the element and demon. They each do have one rather important ability. They can all heal wounds.

The way they use their abilities is through song. They all have five songs that they each sing. Two to gather power into themselves, two to transfer it to their partner, and one to heal. The reason they have four power songs is because their Demon partners each have three forms. Their normal selves, a secondary form where they gain more attributes and features of their respective element and animal, and a third and final form where they become a complete version of the animal.

Think of the songs from Ar tonelico. The female not only sings the song, but can project the music for anyone around her to hear. Another thing: the transformation the demon goes through lasts only as long as the girl is singing. When she reaches the end of the song, she can choose to start over or stop. If she starts over, the demon's power continues. If she stops, he'll revert back to normal.

Now to talk about the Demons. They each have some sort of physical trait that ties them to a specific animal. What this animal is, is completely up to you. But please make sure it makes sense. I don't want a lion as the form of the Water Demon. In their secondary form, you can choose how much of the progression you would like to make into their animal form, I'm not picky. One thing that must be clear: The females must be very careful about how much power they give to their partners at once, as well as the partner must be careful about how much power he tries to take. If he takes or receives too much, he will die. The demon's bodies were not made to hold that type of power for a long amount of time, so it wreaks havoc on their systems.

In their basic form, they have some minor control over their elements. In their secondary form, they have much more control, but cannot do something major, like shift a land mass seven times their size, or make more than two volcanoes erupt at the same time. But in their third and final form, they each have total mastery of their element. But there is a major downside. Their final form not only puts such a strain on their body that they can only stay in that form for five minuets, but they also go comatose for up to two days, recovering. It also puts a major strain on their partners as well, due to the amount of power they have to take into themselves before they give it to their demons. Demons also only have a first name, no last names.

All eight of the children were raised by a man they call the Master. An old, very powerful. and very wise man, he has lived a long time, and knows many things about this world. He knows how to harness the power of the world through songs, and how to command each element. However, his age has begun to catch up to him, and his power has waned. So, he has taught the eight he found, in the ways of old, so that they may take up his challenge, and perhaps succeed where he has failed.

He has knowledge in a great many areas, such as magic, song, science, and alchemy. He will sometimes relay this information to his students through the necklaces he gave them.

The Master is an NPC who can be played by all of us. From time to time, he can give the seven his advice and guidance. [Think of it as professor Oak in the Pokemon games. Only not annoying.]

There is an evil that has spread over this land from the time of its very beginning. While it comes in many different forms and likes to spread its chaos all over, perhaps the form it is most often recognized as is the form of a shadowy wolf. Darkness is his main weapon, but he also uses fear, pain, loss, anything negative, he can manipulate as well.

Shadow is a fully playable character, but please understand that I want a lot of depth for him. Therefore you may not be accepted even if you reserved the character.

Well, we can't start without the Water Female. I can't make a player's wanted ad becuae I'm too new to post links [if only they knew, I've been on this site for four years] so again, if you guys have anyone you can invite to this, that would be great. I've been asking around, but all my fellow role players only like to play guys. :/ ugh.

And double ugh, I had Nagari completely done, and it didn't save ANYTHING. -_- Now I'm too frustrated to go back and do it over.

Alright. I'm loving the characters so far. ~~Do any of you have people you can invite to this? We need the other characters need to be taken before we can start.~~ I'll update the intro page right now to see who we still need ^^

!EDIT!: After updating the page, I realize we only need one person left, the Water Female. So if anyone wants to pick up a character, or they know someone who would like to play her, that would be awesome. Also, if everyone could just throw up a "hey" here in the OOC so I know you're still with us, as soon as all the WIP's are finished and the Water female is taken, we can start :) Thanks so much for bearing with me guys. The last time I put this up we didn't even get to start, so I'm really hoping this doesn't fall through.
