Masao Matsuoka is a sixteen-year old boy who was born in a small town near the outskirts of Morioka, Japan. Masao plays the Cello, and has won several awards for it. As a child, Masao was very shy and quiet, being terrorized by bullies in his younger years was quite a sad experience for him. Masao always is striven to academically excel, and has succeeded to for many years now. Upon graduating from his old high school in Takizawa, he won a scholarship to the renowned school; Brightwood. Masao had to let go of his parents and small band of friends in his hometown to go to Brightwood, but he is determined to overcome the loss and fear of going to Boarding School.

Masao has enrolled for The Book Club, Debate Team, The All Strings Orchestra, Creative Writing Club and is editor for the school paper. Masao's Major is Political Sciences. Masao may be intelligent and selfless, but he has never been very physical and feels extremely uncomfortable at parties or any other social events, especially now being surrounded by so many wealthy and popular people might swarm his emotions. Despite these worries, Masao is very excited to go to Brightwood.
