It's Time To Pay The Piper: Part 1 of 2

The land of Sarilrien has a bloody history. In the rule of the first Matriarch, a group of eight highly skilled malcontents rose to power and formed a rebellion. Few took this rebellion seriously, since it was composed of no more than those eight malcontents. That would be a near fatal mistake for Sarilrien. Three days later, the armies were forced to begin recruiting males, as their entire female fighting force had been decimated. Worse yet, their knowledge became absorbed into the eight, who had come to be called the Karantara, which meant ‘ones who care naught for the world’. Only a month after the Karantara declared their rebellion, the first Matriarch was murdered in her own bedroomn, surrounded by the most powerful warriors in Sarilrien. The daughter of the first Matriarch took command of the remains of her new domain. She convinced the Council to swallow their prejudice against magic and seek help in Syrgard, the land of mages. In response to the plea from Sarilrien, Syrgard sent five thousand of its’ best mage fighters, knowing that having the Karantara as neighbors would be disaster for Syrgard. They met the Karantar on the field of battle, and every last one of them was slowly killed. All of their power and knowledge was assimilated upon their deaths. Syrgard, realized just how bad the situation was then, but they had no mages that could match the powers of those five thousand.
As despair enveloped the world, a lone mage appeared from unknown lands to the south. This mage was heavily cloaked, and so its’ gender was unknown. It offered a solution to the Karantara, but warned that the price would be steep. Sarilrien and Syrgard both agreed, for they were desperate. The mage named itself as The Piper, and none were left alive to know the meaning of that name, so the pact was solidified. The Piper cast a curse that none had seen before, nor would ever see again. The Karantara fell to their own character flaws, unable to fight past suddenly magnified emotions, and were cast into a mountain and sealed there. When the Piper came to collect the agreed upon payment, both Salrien and Syrgard refused. The Piper, rather than flying into a rage or taking the price against the wills of either land, expanded the curse upon the Karantara to both lands. Every eight hundred years, the Karantara would break free, and could only be fought by eight empowered beings. Horrified, both lands attempted to pay the Piper, but it refused and returned to the south.
This is the way it has been for the last eight thousand years, and most are confident that the Karantara are no longer a threat. Syrgard and Sarilrien are enemies now, since they each blame the other for the curse. The Karantara have feasted on this animosity since they were imprisoned. They used all that gathered power to curse those who would arise to fight them. Now when the eight beings gained power, they would gain the curses of the Karantara as well. A cloak of despair has fallen over the lands again. The eight beings powers have manifested, as have their new curses. Realizing that the Karantara were now as powerful as the Eight, the thousandth Matriarch sent them to the south in search of the Piper. They have to make haste, as in two months the Karantara will be released....

This is a sci-fi fantasy RP, the character sheets should include the following infor mation: name, gender, flaw (the one you want), the land you come from (Syrgard or Sarilrien), abilities (special powers your character has, you may choose two, and will receive six more after RPing your manifestation), physical features, personality, history (This only needs to include your life so far, you will be RPing your manifestation):
NOTES: If you are a Syrgard you must have at least one magical ability; and must be male unless you have a really good reason. If you are a Sarilrien you must have at least one martial ability; and be female unless you have a really good reason. There may be only four Syrgards and four Sarilriens.
