The Royal Court

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby bigaleeboo on Sat Jun 05, 2010 1:29 am

Alright, here’s the deal. The year is 1600 in a country that is like England, but not… because this isn’t the Tudor dynasty. ;) A large feast is occurring that is supposed to be a happy occasion, but will it end that way? You can check out my charrie’s intro for a little more info. I would love someone to be the king and the queen as well as random members of the Court. Make this drama filled! Love it! Plus, be literate. I like that sort of stuff.

Some might think that being the most eligible woman at Court may be glamorous, but sometimes the glamour is hard to find. Young Elizabeth was that girl. She was intelligent and came from a wealthy and respected family. She carried herself well and knew how to socialize with the best of them. But what made this young girl of merely eighteen the most eligible woman at Court was that she was beautiful. With her dark chestnut hair and dark green eyes, Elizabeth was quite the catch. Perhaps that was why she recently attracted the interest of the young king. Since four months ago, Elizabeth has been the King’s mistress. It was just recently that Elizabeth discovered she was with child. The situation was that the queen has been unable to conceive a child during their three years of marriage, which displeases the king greatly. Could this child of Elizabeth’s be not only an heir for the king, but a male heir, something that the king greatly desired? Elizabeth prayed daily for her child to be a male and therefore save her future. She grasped onto the hope that the queen, who was aware of the affair and held a deep grudge against Elizabeth, and king would get their marriage annulled. Was she just being naive or could it actually happen?

Currently, Elizabeth stood against a wall on a far hallway, away from the feast that was occurring. A radiant sight in blue, Elizabeth tried her best to be unnoticed right now, but to little success. This is why she sought solitude so far away from the feast. A delicate tear ran down her face as she attempted to muffle her sobs. She held her hand to her lips in a failed attempt to stop crying. After a few minutes, she managed to pull herself together. Elizabeth glided towards the feast, attempting to hold her head up high, but those close to her would have noticed straight away that something was wrong. Her hands, no her entire body, was shaking slightly and a small amount of panic showed in her eyes.

Most looked at her with disgust but it was clear as day that dear Kania was beautiful. Second to young Elizabeth. Due to her gypsy lineage, most wanted nothing to due with her and several had tried to put her out, but because her grandmother had practically raised the King during his younger years, she was allowed to stay. And with good cause too. Once the King had told her that Elizabeth was pregnant, it was now her job to take care of her. And it was a job she despised. Why on earth would she want to care for a spoiled brat. Wasn't it bad enough that she had to attend to every other member of the Court? Especially the Queen? No, now they had decided to dump this task on her. It wasn't like she was jealous, only a bit, but she couldn't stand Elizabeth's beauty, rivaling her own, and secretly wished that the child she carried was a girl.

"I swear, if I wasn't so indebted to the King, I would clonk that girl on the head," Kania muttered to herself as she trudged up the stairs. "Elizabeth! Elizabeth, you stupid girl, where are you?" she called. She was of the same age as her, so had no fear in outrightedly calling her something she felt she was. "The King has requested you!" She looked around. "Elizabeth!"

(AHH! Thanks so much for joining! You're a rock star!)

Off in the distance Elizabeth could hear her name being called, which brought her out of her emotional trance. Oh, what was she doing, sobbing like this? No, she mustn't. She took a breath, turning around in a hunt to find the caller of her name. And she found her, it was Kania. As much as Kania disliked Elizabeth, Elizabeth had the same disdain for Kania. Elizabeth didn't need to be looked after by some girl who hated her. "Yes?" Elizabeth answered Kania as she met up with her.

Kania huffed, hands on her hips. Unlike most of the court ladies, she didn't hide her figure, which, of course, put her at odds with the older women. "You dunce, I've been searching everywhere for you! Wipe your face, you look a horrid mess! The King isn't happy with you. He's been requesting you all night. You know better!" God, she sounded like her mother. With a roll of her eyes, she turned around on her heel, like other Gypsies, preferring not to wear shoes. "Come on, come on."

((Awwwww, thanks!))

Elizabeth nodded, frantically trying to clean up her face a little bit more. She wiped under her eyes, trying to get rid of the redness that comes with tears. She picked up the front of her dress in an attempt to walk faster behind Kania. Her heart beat hard against her chest. Why did the king want to see her now? Her mind was racing... her hands were shaking as she held her dress up.

Kania looked over her shoulder, sighing. "Don't worry, your pretty little head. He's not angry with you. Unfortunately." As much as she would have loved to see him angry at the little Golden Girl, it was not meant to be at the moment. "He probably wants to introduce you to the guests." She looked around as they got to the stairs before sliding down the banister. "Well, come on! Come on!" she said, looking up at her with a smirk, knowing that she would have to walk down the stairs, especially wearing such a delicate dress as that.

A wave of relief rushed through Elizabeth. As much as they might have disliked each other, Kania was always honest, especially when you did not want her to be. A scowl appeared on Elizabeth's delicate features when Kania commented about how she would love to see the king angry at Elizabeth. Elizabeth delicately stepped down the stairs. Sure, it was tough to do in such a large dress, but Elizabeth was not prepared to show any sort of weakness to Kania. Elizabeth was a strong woman and did not like others to see her falter. She reached the bottom of the staircase and she could hear voices closeby.

Kania ran down the hall and into the arms of her mother, who was walking their way. "Mama!" Her mother laughed and hugged her back before curtsying gently. "Hello, Miss Elizabeth," she intoned, her voice gravelly yet soft.

Kania looked over at Elizabeth and rolled her eyes. "Mama, you should be upstairs with the others."

"I know, I know," her mother laughed softly and kissing her forehead gently before going upstairs.

"Come on," Kania said once more, walking down the hallway at a brisk pace.

(Yay! Back! Would you like me to double? I'm thinking as the king or the queen...???)

Elizabeth gently nodded her head in acknowledgement towards Kania's mother. Elizabeth continued to follow Kania down the hallway, struggling to keep up with the quick steps of Kania. "Kania, please, can we slow down?" Elizabeth begged her, taking quick shallow breaths in an attempt to catch her breath, she placed a hand on her stomach, which was not quite showing yet. Her cheeks were flushed a little.

((Sure, whatever you want))

Kania looked back at her and her expression softened just a small bit. "Fine," she muttered, slowing down so that Elizabeth could catch up. She stopped all together, seeing as she was still going slow, her hands on her hips. "Come on, Elizabeth. I understand you're with child but, god, must you be so slow?" she questioned.

(Hmm... I don't care who I play. I can double as the King or the Queen. I usually rp guys, so I would have no problem doubling as the King. :D)

Elizabeth looked at Kania with large eyes, "I'm sorry," she said, apologizing, which was something Elizabeth did not do often. "I'm just so exhausted," she responded, referring to her emotional and phsycial exhaustion. She pulled herself together and nodded to Kania, signalling that she was ready to go.

((M'kay! I'll double as the Queen!))

Kania looked around, trying to find something. She smiled and brought over a cart, something that the servants used to transport good back and forth to and from the kitchen. "Get on," she said, a hand on her hip, showing that she wasn't going to take 'no' for an answer.

(Go us! I'll bring the king into the picture next post... In the meantime, I'll type up a little intro for him.)

Elizabeth couldn't help but grin in a childish manner at Kania. She climbed aboard the cart, still grinning. This was a moment that you could tell how young Elizabeth and Kania really were, they still enjoyed having some fun, even though they both had adult responsibilites.

"Hang on. I'll try and go slow," Kania said, smirking as she walked along. "See? Much faster, than having you waddle after me," she teased gently as she continued to push the cart over to the feasting hall. It was a good thing that there was no one out in the large hallway.

(No way... here too! YAY WEATHER! It's not bad here, though.)

Elizabeth giggled a little as Kania pushed her down the hallway. The voices were getting closer as they were coming closer to the room where Elizabeth was supposed to be. "Stop, stop, stop," Elizabeth whispered to Kania, realizing the room was just around the corner.
(And the King!):

Image

Edward, the twenty-four year old King, stood socializing with a few of his closest advisors. He laughed heartily at something that one of them said. His bright blue eyes sparkled in the dim light. Being such a young King had been tough for Edward but it had given him some enjoyment. Sure, it was stressful to marry a woman that had been unable to produce a single heir, but now he had Elizabeth, who was with child. He was unhappy in his marriage and Elizabeth had brought him a slight glimpse of hope that he would finally have a child and make his marriage annul and void. Adorned in royal blue, Edward was quite the sight tonight. He seemed happy but as if something was bothering him. Almost everyone knew what that something was. What to do with his marriage and his wife?

Edward heard the giggles of two girls from around the corner. He excused himself for a moment and exited the room he was in. He turned the corner, finding Elizabeth and Kania, Elizabeth on the cart and Kania pushing her. He strolled up to them, "Do you think it's the smartest thing to be riding around on that cart, Elizabeth? Kania, you should know better," he scolded, grabbing Elizabeth by the arm, a little tighter than Elizabeth would have liked. Shocked by Edward's harsh behavior, Elizabeth's face looked pained, "Edward, please," she begged him. He released his grip, an apologetic look upon his features.

Kania screeched to a halt, her face showing fear for the first time as she gazed at the King. He was, truely, the only man here she was afraid of. "I-I'm sorry, your Majesty," she murmured, backing up. In truth, Kania was simply a lowly Gyspie, afraid of her King.

Eleanor, nearly 32 years of age, was the crown jewel and she knew it. She flaunted it around whenever possible. However, she was mocked on one occasion. Her inability to bear a child. And this made her the laughing stock of many queens. What queen couldn't give her husband the easiest thing? A child. And now, he had that stupid girl, Elizabeth. She gritted her teeth at the mere thought of that stupid girl. What did she have that she, Queen Eleanor, didn't. She was certainly far prettier than that girl. More smarter. More desired. What was it that made Elizabeth so...so...wanted!?

(Is that Queen Victoria? I'm a history nerd... Haha.)

Edward saw the frightened look upon Elizabeth and Kania's faces... It was something that Edward commonly did to people, frighten them. He was the most powerful man in the country and arguably the world and was known for his quick temper. "Many people are awaiting your arrival," Edward said, escorting Elizabeth into the room. "Kania, will you see to Elizabeth and make sure that she is well," Edward said, "Tonight is an important night and I know that you will keep her company." Edward felt like a distant relative towards Kania. Her mother had been so close to Edward, raising him from when he was an infant, but Kania was always kept at a distance from Edward.

The room was filled with people. Various people from around the country, many of them extremely important politically. And then there was Queen Eleanor. Elizabeth couldn't help but avoid Eleanor's gaze. Truthfully, she felt guilty for having stolen the King's affection away from Eleanor. Elizabeth knew that the Queen would be here tonight and her stomach churned with that thought.
