"and then...you can kill her!" Bellatrix LeStrange laughed maniacally, "Draco gets to kill the mudblood!"
Those two lines were haunting Draco Malfoy like a curse; he couldn't decide if he felt rewarded for the Dark Lord specifically asking, or more like ordering, him to carry this one out after last times failure, or used for doing all of You-Know-Who's dirty work. However, now, he was a death eater, just like the rest of his family, and knew what would happen to them if he didn't carry it out. If that meant that he had to take care of a fellow Hogwarts student then that was exactly what he was going to do. Maybe it was going to be easier this time seeing as she wasn't the headmaster of the school and maybe Bellatrix was right, he had the opportunity to get rid of a mudblood, the species he went round expressing so much hate for.
The students were returning to Hogwarts for their seventh and final year, excitement filled the halls as they were catching up and gossiping about what had happened over the summer and what was going to happen now that Professor Dumbledore was gone. Draco Malfoy came back with the same dark mark, though many were not informed with his position, his presence itself was very sinister. If what his father had said was right then the absence of Harry and Ron would make this mission a piece of cake. However, he had a hard time convincing himself that he could actually do it because of the previous experience, and he was lucky that Snape stepped in and saved his ass but this time, it had to be him. Lord Voldemort wouldn't let his family get away with another slip up and he couldn't possibly put them through further torture.
Dressed in black, Draco walked down the corridor to join his Slytherin friends at the welcome-back-for-the-last-time party for Seventh years in the Great Hall. Snape was now the Headmaster, a guy who he now barely trusted, not after what Dumbledore said about him being a double agent and all, and then there were the Carrow brothers, fellow Death Eaters and enjoyed physical punishment. A lot of things were going to change and everyone knew it. Hogwarts wasn't going to be Hogwarts anymore.
Entering the Great Hall, he spotted Pansy, Goyle, Crabbe and Zabini giving them a small wave and walked over to them. Going past the other seventh years, he received a mixture of looks, mostly fear or disgust, to which he would simply give them a scolding glare back. Tensions were running high, the beloved Professor Dumbledore was dead to which the Daily Prophet and Rita Skeeter suggested it was Harry, but Draco knew the truth. Looking over to the Gryffindor's table, they all looked bland due to the fact that their rival Slytherin was going to be the more dominant house and Harry and Ron really were no where to be seen.
"Thank god there's no more Potter and Weasley," Draco said to his friends who were also talking about the subject. To be honest, everyone in the room was.
"People are saying they might be coming back!" Pansy exclaimed, gossip was a good friend of hers.
"Their not coming back, well, at least Potter definitely isn't," he said in a low and suppressed tone, trying to hide the fact he knew something.
"And how do you know that?" Goyle questioned.
"He killed Dumbledore!" Crabbe idiotically pointed out.
"Shut up! And I just do, that twit is not coming back, my father told me," the Slytherin head boy boasted knowing that when the subject of Lucius came up, his friends kept quiet.
