Angel awoke, disappointed. He had been having a wonderful dream about his old school, and his father had come to pick him up. It had seemed so perfect that, when he compared to his life now, his eyes began to water. The longer Angel was awake, the more the dreadful memories of the day before cam back. First, the ride to Hogwarts that had seemed to be never-ending. Then, Angel shuddered just thinking about it, there was the horrific Sorting Ceremony. Where he was the only student that wasn't a first year. On top of that, the sorting hat had placed him in Gryffindor. From all the research he had done, intelligent students were put in Ravenclaw, not Gryffindor. The only good thing that had come out of the entire day was his schedule. He had gotten Arithmancy. It was to be expected with his grades.

The brief moment that Angel was enjoying didn't last long. A second later, one of his other roommates, a second year student, had thrown a pillow at his face. "Wake up Spanny." The boy cracked up at what he thought was a clever taunt. Angel took a brief moment to glare at him, but then realized that his first class started soon. Angel looked up at the clock in the corner, in five minutes to be exact. He grabbed his suitcase from underneath his bed, he hadn't had enough time to unpack the night before, and grabbed his old robe. That was when he realized that he had a gryffindor robe hanging next to his bed. He groaned in displeasure.

He ran down the dormitory stairs, realizing that everyone else had already left. He remembered that he didn't have any idea where his first class was, so he had to run back up the flight of stairs. He grabbed his class schedule, which included the locations of each class, and ran back down the stairs. By this time he was thoroughly exhausted, which was made worse by the fact that his Charms class was on the second floor, and he was on the seventh.

He dashed out of the Gryffindor common room, almost hitting the portrait of the Fat Lady. As she yelled insults at him, he stormed down the stairs as fast as possible. He had to slow down when he saw a teacher nearby, but picked up speed again when he was out of earshot. When he finally arrived at the door to his the class, everybody was already inside. He thought he had gotten in unnoticed, until he heard Professor Flitwick's voice, "Well, nice of you to join us Angel."

Angel's face turned red and he watched as the professor jotted down a note. This was going to be a very long class.

Arianna sat down in Transfiguration, she absolutely adored this class. Professor McGonagall lectured on and on, and Arianna was writing like crazy just to keep up. Arianna sighed the woman sure knew how to talk. She kept writing but all she could think about were the the new first years. They were probably so excited for their first day of school.

She had heard about a new second year also, he had been sorted into Gryffindor. "Lucky him," she thought to herself doodling the Gryffindor lion on her notebook. Her mother had been in Gryffindor, so it was quite a surprise when Arianna got put in Ravenclaw.

"Ms. Jamison! Are you with us," Professor McGonagall said startling Arianna. "Yes professor," Arianna said blushing for having gone into her daydreams, when she should've been paying attention. She straightened herself in her seat and began to write down notes again.

"You better be careful, wouldn't want to get on her bad side," one of the Ravenclaw girls whispered to her."I know, just a little tired this morning," Arianna whispered back. The professor shot another warning glance and Arianna looked directly down to her notebook. She really needed some sleep.
and as my heart breathes life into my tears, I realize I've been wrong all along.

Alex smiled in her sleep – she was lying on the grass of the Scottish “midlands”, next to a shadowy person whose face she could not see, no matter how hard she looked. Despite this, she was content. The warm sun was beating down on her pretty face, occasionally overshadowed by fluffy white clouds.
Suddenly Alex rolled over, groaning as a buzz sounded in her head, gradually growing louder and louder till she could ignore it no longer.
“I’m up, I’m up okay?!” the magical buzzing died way after it was sure she wasn’t about to fall back on the bed, and Alex sighed, swinging hr legs over the edge of the bed. Tugging of her pyjamas, she replaced it with simple black pants and a tan turtle neck, shrugging her school robes over the top. A quick brush of her auburn red hair and a double check she was wearing everything left Alex with nothing to do but to hurry off to breakfast.

- - -

Alex yawned fleetingly, rubbing some sleep out of her eyes that had somehow evaded her when she awoke. Approaching the classroom, Alex slipped in, frowning when she saw the class nearly full. Alex sighed, muttering an apology to the cat with rims around her eyes that sat on the desk, as she passed. Finding a seat, Alex dropped her tan leather bag beside her and went about taking out her parchment, ink, quill and ink. Alex frowned when she didn’t find her wand in there, wondering how she could have forgotten it, but worried not when she remembered tucking it into her school robes.

Professor McGonagall had made her divine entrance by now, having turned back into her stricted eyed self, and having recieved the usual applause she went about lecturing. Suprisingly, the lesson soon turned into a practical, and Alex grinned. This was her element in Transfiguration.
Alex set about turning her tea pot into a rabbit, smugly smiling when she changed it into a fluffy, black rabbit.

Arianna looked at her teapot and flicked her wand. It turned into a grey rabbit, she began to pat it on the head and started to coo to it.
"Yeah, you're such a pretty little bunny," she whispered. A Gryffindor girl had just turned her teapot into a black, fluffy rabbit. She smiled she knew the girl vaguely and she also knew she was very good in Transfiguration. She smiled at her and went back to petting her rabbit.
"Very nice Ms. Jamison, " Professor McGonagall said looking at her bunny. Arianna smiled. "Thank you, " she said trying to be polite. The other students weren't getting it as well and Arianna had to giggle at some of the odd combinations of bunny and teapot.

Scarlet yawned and flicked her wand at the teapot, and it turned into a small brown rabbit. She grinned and reached forward to scratch it's ears, while adimiring the grey bunny of the girl next to her. "Awh he's cute." She giggled. "..Much better than the ones with spouts anyway.."

Evey grabbed her bag and ran out of her dorm. It was already 8.30, and she was late for her first lesson of the year. Her stomach growled as she pushed to the Fat Lady's portrait open and sped down the corridor.

"Oi! No running in the corridors!" a prefect yelled as she went past him, her long hair flying.

"Sorry!" Evey called over her shoulder, as the older boy shook his head and continued on his way. Turning a corner, she slid down the banisters to end up on the first floor. "Transfigurations is... this way, I think." Picking a direction, she continued running, her footsteps echoing down the hall. "Yes, here it is."

She pushed the door open, using a little more strength than needed. The door hit the wall with a resounding thud. The professor peered at her sternly through her spectacles. Evey groaned inwardly. As if being late for her first class wasn't bad enough, the professor teaching Transfigurations just had to be Head of Gryffindor House, famously known for her strictness.

"Sorry professor," Evey said meekly, acutely aware of every eye on her, even those of the rabbits sitting on some of the students' desks. "I... got lost." It wasn't exactly true, but since she was a First Year student, no one would fault her.

The professor stood up. "You are Evey Izumi, are you not?" When Evey nodded, she continued, "Well, Evey, I will forgive you this time. But do note that I start my class punctually at 8. Repeat today's mistake, whatever your excuse, and you will spend an evening in detention with me. Now, take a seat."

"Yes, Ma'am." Evey gave a short bow before scuttling into an empty seat near the front, her cheeks still red from embarrassment.

((OOC: I just realised, I'm having class with some 2nd years! Is that supposed to happen? Oh, and is Professor McGonaggal still Transfigurations teacher? She's Headmistress now, isn't she?))

Arianna turned to Scarlet and smiled. "Thanks! Yours is also!," she said reaching over to pet the brown rabbit. "I'm Arianna, I'm not sure if we've met," she said adding a nice smile. "But, you can call me Ari," she added knowing her name usually left people tongue-tied.

Harris was having a great time in magic school, but he expected this. He was one of those naive, bright headed little optimists that is hard pressed to ever have a bad time. Which was odd, because he usually didn't suit the recommendation of a Slytherin. Still, a lot had changed since the fall of Voldemort. Slytherin no longer was associated with evil. It kind of still was, but mostly out of tradition. Bottom line, you didn't have to be a jackass to be a Slytherin anymore. Harris was proof of that. He had just started school and was already generally liked by lots of people, not just in Slytherin. He was making friends in all different houses and years, even the teachers seemed to like him. It was good, he enjoyed being popular.

Charms was first, this was one of his favorite classes. This, and defense against dark arts. They were fun classes that he didn't mind doing the homework in. The other classes he thought were OK, care of magical creatures wasn't too bad. But they didn't compare to the charms and DaDA. A boy came in late, a Gryffendor, and tried to play it off as if he had been there. "If this were later in the year, young man, I'd take five points from Gryfendor. Let's not let it happen again."

"There's a seat here," Harris called out the newcomer and motioned to a seat beside him.

Arianna nodded,"Scar... got it, yes I think I am," she said with a smile. She watched as Scarlet turned her teapot into a raven. "Nice!," she whispered, "I love Transfiguration, so simple and straightforward, not to mention entertaining," she said turning her rabbit into a teapot and then into a small, gray mouse and back again.

After his horrible confrentation with the Professor, a student offered him a seat. It was a boy who looked like a first year. Angel shot the boy a dirty look, but then realized all the other seats were already taken. He curled his lip in frustration and then finally sat down.

He edged himself onto his seat, and then took out some paper, a quill, and some of his special blue ink. The ink was designed to keep him from making any spelling errors, but he was the only one that that knew it. He grabbed his wand, a stunning seventeen inch vine wood with a unicorn hair at the core. It was unusually long, but very decorative.

He tried to ignore the boy next to him and focus on what Professor Flitwick was trying to tell them. "Now class, we are going to be practicing the Supersensory Charm, which will allow you to see things out of your line of site. I can see that Miss Degorium." Angel turned to see a girl flirting the boy next to her. She had been facing the back of Professor Flitwick, so she was unaware that he saw her.

Angel focuesed his attention on his wand as he chanted the spell. Nothing seemed to happen, at first, but then he saw a boy behind him about to sneeze. He ducked his head just before he heard, "Achoo!" Angel breathed a sigh of relief, and then decided he might as well see how the boy next to him was doing.

Emily was seated in charms, looking at the late boy. Jotting down notes of what Flitwick said that was important. There was a sneeze and at that moment, Emily remembered, 'Did I forget my wand?' She searched her pockets desperately for her Unicornhair Mohogany wand, 8 inches. She searched her robe pockets and found it. Flitwick used a nice example.

Alex supressed a laugh when she heard the girls say how easy transfiguration was - just wait till they got to the 3rd year and above! Transfiguration had been one of her mothers top classes, and it was exceptionally difficult later on during the school, or so Alex was told by her lie-despising mother. Alex allowed herself a quick glance at the girls, raising a brow as they showed off their skills - either they were cheating, were exceptionally talented, had beginners luck or had done the course before; the last one Alex doubted, it was a fluke for her to get her tea-pot to turn into a rabbit so easily, but that was mainly because of the lessons that had been driven into her mind as a child by her mother and father. Alex groaned softly when she saw one of the hufflepuff girls waving her wand wrong, and Alex slid out of her seat and approached the girl. She was a 2nd year, and though not close friends they were well acquanted.
"Bryton, here, let me help you," Alex covered the girls wand hand in her own, directing her hand in the correct way and saying the incanation clearly along with Bryton. After about another 5-7 tries, Bryton had managed to produce a small, silver grey rabbit.
"Thanks Alex." Bryton returned ths mile that Alex flashed her, grateful to not have to be put in the spotlight by the professor later on. Sliding back into her seat, Alex caught her rabbit as it threatened to hop off the bench and placed it in her lap. Dipping her quill in her ink, Alex began to scribble down notes on the spell in her 19th century cross a modern modern caligraphy.

Evey stared at her teapot in dismay. She had read the first chapter of the textbook, and thought she knew the theory of turning teapots into critters. But no matter how she waved her wand at it, it stayed as solid and as teapot-ty as ever. She tried three more times, then gave up. She glanced sideways at two girls (Scarlet and Arianna) who were talking softly while turning their teapots into rabbits and ravens at amazing ease. Evey cleared her throat.

"Umm, excuse me..." she said softly, "How are we supposed to do this?"

Harris ignored the dirty look the late boy sent him, actually he pretended that it never happened at all. To him that wasn't a dirty look, it was a confused look or something along those lines. Harris was naive like that. The boy dodged a sneeze matrix style before finally turning towards Harris. "Howdy," Harris said cheerily as he played with his wand in the motion he was told.

Howdy
Angel rolled his eyes. There was obviously wrong with the boy. He let his mind wander while the other students practiced the spell. At least he was, until Professor Flitwick spotted him, "Well, Angel, since you think your'e so great at this, why don't you show the class."

Angel had been caught off guard, and Professor Flitwick knew it. Angel swallowed, and then turned his mind back to the incantation. He tried to annunciate as much as he could. This time, the spell took a little longer to take affect. Angel was left just sitting in silence, praying that the spell would take affect again.

It finally did. He suddenly had an image of the people behind him. He turned to Professor Flitwick, "The boy two rows behind me is picking his nose." Angel could tell from the chattering that others were turning to see whom Angel was talking about. He turned around himself, and saw the boy turn bright red and lower into his chair.

Professor Flitwick gave Angel a piercing stare. "Well done, Angel," he said in a severe tone. He looked straight out at the students, "Class is over for today, see you all tomorrow." Angel packed up his bag and was heading towards the door, when Professor Flitwick whispered in his ear, obviously using a charm because he was still sitting at his desk, "Keep in mind, you won't succeed in everything." Angel turned around and saw Professor Flitwick with a serious, yet caring, look.

Angel continued out the door, ready for his Care of Magical Creatures class, but not looking forward to it.

Evey listened intently as Scarlet explained the spell theory and wand movements. After she was done, Scarlet asked, "Get it?"

"Err, I think so..." Evey replied uncertainly. "Let me try..." She waved her wand at the clay teapot on her desk. Nothing happened. Well, at least it didn't blow up, Evey thought. All I need to do is relax. Deep breaths She sat still for 10 seconds, breathing deeply, trying to calm herself. Then when she was ready, she closed her eyes and waved her wand again.

This time, she heard a small squeak. Opening her eyes, she saw a small brown mouse quivering on her desk. The mouse stared up at her with dark, round eyes, then turned and ran.

"Oh no you don't," Evey snarled, reflexes lending her speed to catch the mouse before it fell off the desk to it's death. The mouse trembled in her hand. "There, there..." she whispered. Reaching out with her mind, as she had been taught to back home, a part of her consciousness entered the mouse's mind. Using that connection, she showed it that she meant no harm. Slowly, the trembling stopped. Evey grinned. This was the first Western spell she had successfully casted.

Scarlet smiled at her. "Well done. Hey, how'd you get him to relax?" She asked, watching the mouse sitting calmly in the other girl's palm.

As the class ended Scarlet packed up her books and stood up, turning to talk to the other girls. "what class do you have now?" she asked, taking out her timetable to check her own class. "Anyone got Divination?"
