When John was a boy he worked at his family’s tavern and practiced boomerangs with his father. Their village had been relatively peaceful until a notorious gang of pirates docked one morning. Not too long afterwards the government received word of the band and sent a group in to take of it and most of the village was destroyed. John was orphaned and lefty alone in the world with no friends or relatives. He packed his belongings and gathered what he could and set out on his own. He met a small band of fisherman and was going to go to a more populated island and they agreed to ferry him across the water if he helped with their daily labors and he agreed. On their way across they were disturbed by a band of mischievous pirates and John liked them and thought their ways were appealing and became an apprentice aboard their ship for a few years. After a few lucky hands of poker one night in a town known as Rumford’s Ridge he managed to acquire a ship. Now he has left his former crew and is seeking a new crew of his own to take on the Grand Line with.
