Introduction
I am here to tell you a story, a story that will torture your thoughts by day and poison your dreams by night. And, though I will do my best, there are no words that can be written nor brushstrokes laid on canvas that could describe the stark and utter horror of the night Annabel died.
“What exactly happened that night?” you contemplate as you stare up at the stars that illuminate the night sky. But, you have much greater concerns. Where is your lover, your best friend, your sibling, or even your parent? Why were they of everyone in the whole world taken away? If the god of this world existed, how could he have chosen you of all people to bestow such a horror? But, amidst your sorrow filled teardrops and torturous thoughts, you are determined. You will find them. No matter what it takes, you will taste the bittersweet blood of revenge. You didn’t deserve this.
It was a winter night in 1892. It was one of the nights that people tend to stay within the confines of their warm homes, staying a close proximity to their fireplace. Nothing was out of the ordinary that night, except for the strong hiemal chill outside. It was the coldest days on record in the small town that laid just outside of London. Families were beginning to retire to bed, eagerly enveloping themselves inside the intense heat of their rough wool blankets. Little did anyone know, an
evil was arising.
In folklore, 3 o’clock in the morning is often referred to as the haunting hour. For the people of the small English town, this became a frightening reality. Whether it was an unlatched window or an unlocked door, the evil beings somehow got into your safe haven. They were silent, blending into the night like a dark phantom. They located their victims quickly, and killed them with a practiced accuracy. They took the body with them, for a sadistic ritual or just as bragging rights, no one is quite positive.
What happens to the deceased who suffer from such foul play? Surely, they must have some unfinished business. And, thus, the City of Angels exists.
The City of Angels is sort of a purgatory. Whether you committed horrendous deeds in life, or were a saint like being, if you have unfinished business on Earth you will be sent to the City of Angels. The City is exactly like Earth, except death and physical pain are non-existent. The deceased are not confined to the city though. They may transfer between the human and spirit world. But, the spirit must not come in contact with someone they knew in life while in human form, for that person will die. The only way to communicate with loves ones is in the City of Angels, while your loved one is dreaming.
The Angels are those who will travel to the paradises of Heaven after their issues on Earth are resolved. The Fallen are those who’s future is not definite. Due to misdeeds on Earth, they have a limited time in the City of Angels. If they can not resolve their problems on Earth, then they will be sent to the fires of Hell after one
human year. Angels, on the other hand, have unlimited time.
Your goal is to find the person, or creature, that killed you before it is too late. Because they most definitely will go after those you love. And, if one of those who you were supposed to protect dies, you will be stuck in the City of Angels for eternity.
The emptiness will haunt you.
