Zombie Apocalypse on the small island of Apocatropics. Who's going to be on the menu first? And it begins again! :|

Introduction

Rated M

Still accepting new characters. Feel free to post comments in the OOC and shwhat not. It's my hope that more of you choose to create new characters to give this a shot. I'm being lax on the histories and such to a point but will be strict with the rules. And not everyone has to start together though if you start alone you will still have to wait for at least one other to post before you post again. The point is survival, nothing beyond that yet has been revealed. Once again feel free to drop criticism and questions in the OOC. Oh and the only reason I put romance was because someone might well do something like that. Sorry for the delay again, but would really like to get this going again, maybe make it more continual.

Rated M. It's rated so because so many things could happen in this role play involving violence and gore, and swearing and anything you come up with. So I'd best put it out there, anything could happen but keep in mind that Zombies will be/are everywhere.

The Beginning!

The sun was out and the wind was blowing gently today. A beautiful day to be visiting in the Apocatropics. The island was the perfect tourist spot with it's sandy beaches, wonderful all-year round weather, positioned perfect to be a shipping pit stop. Many people visited the island monthly on it's own cruise company, Horizons. But today wasn't going to be such a good day, for dark things were brewing over in the small town of Yorsidal.

"Mommy I want an Ice cream! I want an ice cream!" The child was cut short by a quick glare from his mother. They were standing outside the grand opening of this new Ice cream parlor, but they were also two hours early. She'd told him over and over again that they'd be far to early. But little Billy just wouldn't give up he said, "Oh it doesn't matter mommy. I can wait, I'll be good." Of course she'd knew it was a lie.

There were few people outside, even though the news had been bustling about this place. Nothing ever happened here in Yorsidal. But she just chalked it up to people still be sick from the outbreak of sickness that was taking a toll on a lot of people in the town. It was declared by the "officials", if there were any officials in the town, to be a food poisoning outbreak stemming from some bad meat brought in by one of the recent traders.

She looked around again, as Billy tugged on her shirt and said, "Look Mommy! It's Daddy!" She was going to tell him that was impossible as he'd just died today and that she felt getting ice cream would soften the blow, but she hadn't told him yet. Turning to look at what her son had thought was his father she went ghost white. Standing there only feet from her was his father, but something was terribly wrong with him. His breathing was off, his was pale and dripping with blood.

Before she could say anything, "father" sprinted forward closing the distant between them and grabbed her by the hair with one hand and the bottom of her shirt with the other. Pulling her to him he reared his head opening his mouth and took a massive bite out of the flesh.

Billy watched in terror as his father devoured his mother, and more things like him swarmed around grabbing the few people moving around the city and breaking into homes. Screams and shouting soon filled the streets as people ran for their lives in panic.

That was two weeks ago. At first everyone thought the military would come and save them from what was unfolding around them. But two days later when they did arrive in large force it quickly became apparent who was going to win. Now there are few people still alive scattered about the city desperately holding on to whatever keeps them alive.

The plot summary!

Welcome to the Campaign of Brains. This will be a mature-content role-play where we will be playing survivors on the island. The campaign will mostly be centered on surviving. But as you go along you might begin to piece things together, which it’s okay if you don’t, and/or might try to stop/cure the infection. It will be mature, gory, and most pleasant. If you don’t think you can handle it, your free to quit at anytime. More will be explained to those that choose to join.

AugmentationAudit wrote:The characters in the plot are relatively well played, however, it is wise to keep in mind several factors, such as ammunition amounts and the weights of weapons wielded; remembering to limit characters adds to realism even in a fantasy setting. Some combat rules might be beneficial to this style of project. Stipulating how and how the zombies came into being clearly would be wise. Despite this, you have clearly got a plot in mind that you are sticking too. In terms of depth, this story seems to be let down by one or two writers that need a little encouragement. Emotional reactions, insanity for instance, are common in this setting but seem to be a little neglected. I am afraid I had to give an "in progress" for mechanics, as there are a great number of errors in speech grammar, capitalization and the like. Some of these errors would be easily corrected with proof reading. It is, generally, one or two of the writers who are making these mistakes, and it would be wise to point out mistakes noted (politely and constructively) so that they could improve their posts. I also gave style an "In progress" as some posts make the narrative rather hard to understand. Overall, I think this RP has had considerable effort put into it, and with a little polishing could be an even better read. It shows a lot of promise, and is clearly enjoyed by it's players. To improve, I would look into psychology, especially under such trauma, also keep in mind that a lot of people would have a hard time in this sort of setting, have no idea how to load/use weaponry, etc. A little uncertainty would benefit the plot a great deal.

This role-play shows potential, but has some bugs that need to be worked on before it can truly realize that said potential.

"Well I haven't really thought it out. We couldn't stay there much longer what with the increase in activity." He stopped for a minute as he thought about what it was he was going to actually say. "From what we know, your right we need weapons but we need to keep moving. For one we can't be totally trusting with these people that may or may not still be alive by the time we get to Amberway. And we have the problem with the way that the island is. Right now we are as far from Amberway as we might as well be from space. Going through the main city with this infection could be suicide. But if we don't cut through it could easily take far to long to get to them and or more time for us to be injured. Or worse."

He stopped taking a quick breath and thinking about what he was going to say. He'd never been one to say so much aloud but this was important.

"Personally, I don't like the idea of going through the city because like I've already said there will be far to many people that have likely gotten infected there. For an island that city is pretty large and we'd be walled in once we have entered. Also there is the chance that it was blockaded as well as the plenty of other places that would probably still be fortified and could possibly have survivors.
The other route would take us either through the eastern woods and the town of Falenshire. Or if we went west, more then likely we'd hit Bremer and then for sure Rockdale. I used to know a guy on the internet that lived over there. He was a gun nut to say the least so even if he's not there, there is a possibility of weapons.

But I'd say if we go around we should go east because the forest get's rather thick the closer you get to Falenshire. Aside from the route in and out it's tough going to get into the town. I used to think about moving out there when I got fed up with people. Which means that we should see less of them there. I'd think most people fleeing would have headed to Newport and the western towns because for the most part it's wide open land, farms and back roads."

He stopped again letting what he'd said soak in and giving him time to breathe.

"So it comes down to you two, shall we cut through the city or try and make our way along the side roads between the towns. Either way, I'm sure that we will find weapons somewhere along the way. And we need to make sure, depending on where we decide to go, that we have everything we need. We are going to need gas and probably some extra things we'd be able to find at the shopping center near us." He was already thinking of a few places he'd passed before in the time he'd spent on the island.

They had a decent amount of supplies that they had gathered from the apartments they plundered and the things that already were in the car. But Richard wasn't exactly sure what all they had. They had all been in such a rush to get started on this crazy journey that it was becoming more obvious that he should have thought this through. This was a crazy experience that he'd never thought that any of them would have to go through. But he was glad that he'd spent so much time being a closet zombie nut. It hadn't taken him much thought to put two and two together.

Even though it had proven very early on that it wasn't like what he'd seen in the movies. In the movies it all ended or the group somehow managed to be rescued. Ending their plight on a happy note. There wasn't going to be any such thing for him. The horror wasn't going to end. It wasn't in some far off made up place. This reality hit him every time he stared in the lifeless eyes of one of them rotters. He slowly faded out as he stared out the moving car's window watching the aftermath roll by. Cars wrecked or parked haphazardly through the street and yards. Bodies twisted in the wrecks or strewn about the street from when the zombies had first come through. Some of the were still being feasted on by small groups of the dead and others were just starting to rise. As they moved through it he shuddered at the sheer number of them. Fearing for their safety when ever the car slowed.

"Hey. Hey, Fuckass. Yeah. Wander over there."
Kiara watched as the lone, putrid zombie began to break off from the group of about 30. All in varying states of decomposition. After being cooped up in a seaside shack for more than a week, after meticulous planning, she finally decided to carry out the hit she had been given. Prince Abdul Shamakala-Whatever. He was worth big money. Enough for a real vacation. She headed out with her black hockey bag holding her firearms, and took a taxi to the richest suburb on the island. However, they met some traffic. And by traffic, she meant a horde of the living dead. She had heard the whispers in the town, the rumours of the undead, but she dismissed it as haiti witch doctor bull. Oh, was she wrong. As the undead dragged the screaming taxi driver from the broken window, she unzipped her bag, pulled out her Smith and Wesson, and smashed the backseat windshield with the butt of the gun. She crawled out and managed to escape on foot while the other zombies were having a buffet with her unfortunate driver. Now, she was holed up in the attic of some abandoned 2 level, 3 bedroom 2 bath house. She had brought up all the food left in the house (which wasn't very much) and kicked down the ladder. And now, she was beginning to understand the mechanics of cabin fever. The gnawing sense of being stuck somewhere for an unknown amount of time. The fact that she had nothing to do but wait for rescue. She had to get out. She had to do something.
So, she turned to what she did best.
Target practice.
Fuckass, nicknamed after the fat, stuttering bartender from Boondock Saints, was now about 20 feet from the others. She looked down the telescopic sights of her H&K rifle and gently squeezed the trigger. The silencer reduced the noise of the shot, and only a noise akin to the pop of popcorn was head. The zombies head exploded into a gray-brown mist, and it collapsed. The others didn't seem to notice, wandering in their own little undead worlds.
Kiara sighed and leaned back. from the crack in the window.
"Why don't you make like a tree, and get the fuck out of here?" She murmured to herself, chuckling. She stopped herself mid-chuckle and shook her head. She was losing it.
She quietly aimed her sights and chose her next target.

Going to speed it up some and possibly lead us to you, Haven(Kiara). Kali(Henry) should be posting soon and the other two DeeDee (Annie/Emily), Techgorilla (Charlie) will be posting soon as well. Also this contains minor shadowplay.

"It'll be a faster route if we just head through the city. With what's going on time is definitely our worst enemy here, " Charlie had said. Richard had agreed with that point, it really was only a matter of time before something killed them.

"Yeah man, but if we go in that nest we'll never come out alive . You know how many people were probably in the city still when this infection hit. I really think it's a bad idea." That was pretty much the last thing Richard said on it.

The three of them had decided amongst themselves that they were going to just going to cut through the city. It hadn't been without protest from Richard, but he had said they could decide. It had been mostly Charlie that had actually decided it for them in the end. Annie had been to busy driving to say more then that she didn't care where they went so long as they were moving.

They had just about five more minutes till they would make their way out of Fairview and be on the highway to the city. Since the decision Richard had just been focusing on observing his surroundings from the window. He had come to two conclusions. One being that the zombies were less active now during the daylight. He'd no idea why but he had obviously seen them a lot less during the day. And for the second, he'd noticed that the closer they got to the city the more crashed and abandoned cars they had to go around.

He was about to turn to Charlie and ask him something when he noticed something out the corner of his eye. Turning he focused down the street. They were stopped at another red, Annie still hadn't gotten over that, and he could barely see it around the corner of the building. But even so he knew what he'd just seen. The walker suddenly jerk and fall to the ground in a crumple of limbs as the bullet pierced it's rotten body. He hadn't heard a gunshot but he sure just saw one.

"Hey, Annie turn right here. I think I seen a survivor. I just saw someone shoot one of the bastards down. It took him out in what had to have been one or two shots. Maybe some professional help?" Even as he suggested it though, he'd already made the decision to let it go if they didn't want to risk it. The last few times he'd met other people besides these two didn't turn out well.

Alright, monsieur. Sounds alright by me

Kiara's gaze moved from the barrel of her scope to the car that had suddenly pulled up to the house. Survivors? It didn't seem possible. She looked back down the scope. Three people in the car; two men, one woman. Were they armed? She took another look. Through the glass she could see the outline of a machete and a sledgehammer, and the younger looking man was carrying a 9mm pistol. She couldn't recognize the make, but it looked shoddy. Still, they seemed more on the defence, rather than the offence, and they looked approachable enough.
"You fucking crazy?" A voice in her head rang out. Shit. Ever since she returned from her tours, Kiara had really developed a little "voice in your head" kind of thing. Her voice of reason was calm, cool, and collected. Her warrior voice, the one who spoke first, was always pissed off and ready to fight whenever.
She was sure it wasn't schizophrenia (as they both spoke in her voice), but it could be a dual personality thing. As long as they didn't take over her body, it was fine. As for now, the Warrior and Reason liked staying in her head. Which was both good and bad.
"They'll try to slaughter you. They're dangerous!" The warrior's voice continued.
"Calm down," Her voice of reason countered. "A) you've got the bigger guns, and B) look at them! they're harmless. They need your help. And you need theirs."
"And C?" The warrior asked.
"There is no C". Reason replied.
"There's always a C!" Warrior shouted. "What kind of game is this without a C?"
"Will both of you shut the fuck up?" Kiara whispered aloud, and her head became quiet. She sighed and took one last glance at the car. Now or never, she guessed.
She started packing her rifle away.

Annie had been listening intensively to Richard as he explained their venture. She was focusing mostly on the road at this point because of all the road blocks and corpses (moving and not moving ones) that she could barely get her own thoughts together on what she thought about it all. She didn't much care as long as it was away from her apartment of dreadful memories and it gave her a chance to somewhat be on the search for her sister.

She didn't suppose they were driving long when she heard the familiar sounds of shots being fired. She flinched in her seat and ducked her head down just in case it was some crazy bunch of people in their car being crazy like those who drove through the neighborhood the previous afternoon. Richard had eased her mind a bit when he had told her when to turn and what he had seen. Annie didn't realize how in a daze she was as she listened to what he said and turned. Then right before her eyes was a somewhat ragged looking girl. She had weapons on her so Annie knew right away she wasn't infected if she was holding them as if she knew how to use them.

"I don't know about this," Annie sighed gripping the steering wheel as they watched the girl from the car for a moment, "how do we know she's not a lunatic and will kill us for the car?" Annie played with the idea dangerously in her mind as her grip tightened that her knuckles turned white. She felt like she could trust Richard's decision he if chose to take this girl in. She also knew that Charlie would be barrel to barrel with her if she tried anything. Annie wasn't much help aside of the car and being an aggressive driver.

"Whatever you guys choose to do, I'm with you, just don't get me killed." She laughed pleadingly.

Fuck this system. I meant to post in Apocatropics, since we aren't in any city or town right now. But I messed up and since you can't edit that stuff, yeah. Anyway, basically we stopped because the road and can not safely go any further in the car. Everyone who should be in the car is there. So have at it people, do something. :|

They'd been driving for sometime now, weaving between the bits of crashed or abandoned cars that they encountered on the road towards the city. They were getting closer and closer to the city with every minute that passed. And it was becoming blatantly more and more obvious as the amount of death increased. Richard passed the time staring out the window and having small excerpts of conversation with everyone in the car now.

He was halfheartedly talking to Annie about the decent weather they were having, considering everything else. When she hit the brakes suddenly. He'd been almost asleep so he hadn't seen it coming and jerked forward catching himself on the seat belt. Opening his eyes he could now see why they'd stopped. The road ahead was completely blocked in traffic. Everyone leaving had crashed, probably when someone who'd been infected turned. And it had piled up all the way down the road to the entrance of the city wall.

"Shit." he moaned as he went to unlock the car door. He knew what was about to happen and he didn't like it one bit. The sun was still high above him as he slowly got out of the car, which was a good thing. They'd have to walk the rest of the way. He lifted his right hand to his head using it to block the sun from his eyes. The cars went as far as he could see but they probably didn't have more then a few miles left till they hit the city. He could make out the wall blotting the landscape farther down. There were also quite a few cars that had tried to go off road and ended up getting stuck in some of the impossible ditches that were nestled in low rolling hills that made of this area.

"Well folks look's like we have to walk the rest of the way." He said sticking his head back inside the car, "Or, we could try and go for broke and crash like some of the other people already tried to do."

Charlie felt the car come to a sudden stop, this woke him up from his quite sleep. It was strange how calm he was, he didn’t pay much attention to it, god forbid he realizes that he has grown accustomed to this situation. .He noticed they were close to the city and that the roads were full of cars. He immediately got the idea, they would have to go on foot from now on.

“Why the hell did i say we should go through the city” Charlie thought to himself. “We are all going to die now” Charlie said in a quite voice, like trying to state his argument but making sure to be quiet enough for others not to hear him.

He got out of the car and started scouting the area while the others prepared. He barely had anything on him. Just a backpack with some supplies.

“I’ve become pretty practical” Charlie thought to himself.

He was slowly moving through the cars around, looking for any sign of danger. Checking every car for zombies and making sure not to make any noise.

“Would you look at that?” Charlie said while he picked up a tire iron on the floor. It seems that someone was trying to change a tire in the middle of this mess. Maybe he panicked and just ran for it. Didn’t really matter, the point was that charlie found a great weapon.

“Although” Charlie thought “Do i really want to get close enough to use this?”

Whatever the case charlie kept the thing and kept doing his rounds around the car. He decided to move a little bit further. He wanted to see if he could find the high ground to check what was up ahead. That's when he found a perfectly placed truck. Charlie climbed the truck in hopes of getting a better vision on the area. He struggled a bit but after a while he made his way to the top.

It was an strangely beautiful sight, there was some kind of beauty in the chaos in front of him. But charlies face became less and less pleasant as his eyes focused on a terrible sight. About a dozen zombies mindlessly roaming the road a little over 200ft away.

“Shit, i don’t even want to imagine how many we are going to find in that city.” Charlie said while climbing down the truck.

He made his way back to the car, where everyone was still doing their own stuff.

“Hey guys, come see this, it’s pretty bad” Charlie said while signaling them to come.

Tyler Kent was a new face in the Lower District and especially on the island of Apocatropics. But you wouldn't know it from looking at him. His appearance as a cabbie made him look like everybody else. The one thing he knew of this place was that it had a zombie problem. Zombies... I always thought they were just on The Walking Dead.

Tyler took his bags to a nearby apartment complex and asked for a room on or around the top floor. The apartment complex was no Chrysler Building, but it would have to do. Tyler was just starting out, anyway. The reason he asked for a room on the top floor was because he knew zombies have a tough time with stairs. But how will they do with elevators? he thought. Ah, let's cross that bridge when we come to it.

The bellboy led Tyler to the top floor of the apartment building and showed him to his room. It was a small, two room apartment with a new kitchenette on the far left, a living room dead center, and a bedroom through the door on the right. The bellboy closed the door and left. Tyler locked it behind him just in case there were zombies afoot.

Tyler was hoping to breathe easy after this, but he already heard demonic screaming coming from the bedroom. He took his Saturday Night Special out of his pocket and rushed into the bedroom. He saw nothing and began to walk away. Suddenly, a scaly, green hand grabbed his shoulder and almost bit the back of his head. Tyler jolted forwards, causing the hand and its arm to break off of its owner. He turned around to see a zombie staring him in the face. He shot the zombie twice in the head, then finished it off by decapitating it with its arm.

"Imma put this one on my mantle!" he said proudly.

Tyler took the zombie's body and threw it out the window. He took the head and did the same thing. If this was his first encounter, then what was to come?

It has a high population and is crammed with ethnicity of all types, but is also a notoriously unmotivated neighborhood. It's one of many suburbs of the New Metro.

Collectibles

By creating Collectibles, you can reward your players with unique items that accentuate their character sheets.

Once an Item has been created, it can be spawned in the IC using /spawn Item Name (case-sensitive, as usual) — this can be followed with /take Item Name to retrieve the item into the current character's inventory.

Mobs

Give your Universe life by adding a Mob, which are auto-replenishing NPCs your players can interact with. Useful for some quick hack-and-slash fun!

Mobs can be automated spawns, like rats and bats, or full-on NPCs complete with conversation menus. Use them to enhance your player experience!

Current Mobs

No mobs have been created yet.
