A lone wolf walked quietly through a cold, snowy, silent forest. She was beautiful-- her fur was pure black and her eyes an amazing shade of gold. But her eyes were dull and solemn, as if she no longer cared about the world. And why should she?

Humans had all but ruined it. It all started when they discovered a new energy resource. It was cheap, efficent, and abundant, but it's consequences were terrifying. The earth began to die... The sun began to hid its warm face behind thick grey clouds, the air became polluted, plants and crops began to die, as well as animals. Many species died out, or their numbers were greatly decimated, including the wolf... Realizing the humans had made a mistake, they tried to fix it by breeding stronger, genetically enhanced animals. Wolves were their main focus, and the strongest of the wolves were locked away to be bred into wolves who could survive on little food, intense cold, and poor air and water quality. The humans injected the test subjects with hormones, steroids, and other potentially hazordous toxins. But their experiments failed... The wolves they bred were becoming erratic, and soon the humans realized they had bred monsters... These wolves were gentically enhanced to the point where the had beyond average strength, speed, and intelligence. They could bite through steel, run as fast as a car, and jump from building to building. And they wanted revege... The humans had ruined their earth, locked them in cages and injected them daily with foreign substances, and forced them to fight for breeding rights. The humans had no choice but to kill the genetically enhanced wolves they created... But a few managed to survive and mulitiply.
To this day, no normal wolves remain, only a few of the super breed the humans created. They must live in secrecy, constantly hinding from the humans in barren wastelands and forests, fighting each day to survive.

The coal black wolf lifted her nose in the air and sniffed searching for something; anything-- humans, other wolves, food... The humans had taken so much, it was unforgivable. Yet the words words of her mother still echoed through her head. She rememebered it all so clearly... Her mother was lying on the cold snow, covered in blood caused by a human's gun.
"Kona, my pup, listen to me... Don't blame the humans for all of this... They wronged us, yes, but they tried... They tried... Please don't blame them for all of this... Be strong, Kona, and live free..."

"No mother," Kona muttered under her breath, "you're wrong... I will never forgive the humans for what they did to this world, and what they did to you..."
