30 years ago Light was killed by Ryuk,God of death which was apart of the deal with whoever first uses the death note.The god of death originally created the death note to give him souls in a way that would cause no suspicion and gives him more power.This time around,Kira or known as light released his inner soul and released a copy of more death note's and if Ryuk was pleased he might actually let him leave but that was not going to happen anytime soon as the death note's are centered around a group of people who live different live's and who are connected to the other.

the Death Note, contains five written instructions:
-The human whose name is written in this notebook will die.
-This notebook will not take effect unless the writer has the subject's face in their mind when writing his/her name. Therefore, people sharing the same name will not be affected.
-If the cause of death is written within 40 seconds of writing the subject's name, it will happen.
-If the cause of death is not specified, the subject will simply die of a heart attack.
-After writing the cause of death, the details of the death should be written in the next 6 minutes and 40 seconds.
-The owner of the book gains powers and abilities to use unless they have weapons

These instructions limit the person and Ryuk watches them until their time is up and he gets the chance to capture their soul and they do die of course but this makes him much stronger.

The story begins when ordinary people receive the book and they use it to kill anyone anytime but they all have their limits.For each kill is each soul and it's harmless to the user until that matter.The student's look up until they find each other with the same copy of the book until they figure out what to do with power and they only have one choice which is to take out Ryuk and become Shinigami's.
