Chris:

“What happened was real, at least for me...”
Was Sam asking if he liked him? He didn’t know how to answer that question, but the least he could do was try.

“I... like you” He stuttered, nowhere near loud enough for anyone to hear, the only thing that could be heard was an incomprehensible murmur.
He knew he had to try better. Christopher exhaled slowly, before turning around to look at Sam. He took a deep breath as he made a new attempt at telling the other man how he felt, but for some reason the words were stuck in his mouth.

“I... do you remember the energetic girl with the pixie hair who jumped me earlier?” Smiling at the thought of Kelly almost knocking him over, he looked at the house where he would be taking his test.
“She saw straight through me from the start. And ever since i told her that i had fallen head over heels for someone, she has been asking me over and over for the last two weeks who it is. Asking me every five minutes, calling me in the most stupid situations and trying to get me to say, who it is I’m having a crush on... It was actually so bad that i called my sister to ask her to do something about it; i couldn’t cope with her harassing me all the time.

He sighed and looked at Sam again with a cheeky smile. He wasn’t as nervous now, talking these things over helped him calm down a little.
“And it’s entirely your fault that Kelly is pestering me” Christopher said as he stuck his hands in his pockets and looked at the ground.
“If i hadn’t fallen for you, i wouldn’t get ambushed whenever i run into that energetic red-head”

He looked at the house and then at Sam “I’ll be ready for the test in two minutes” he said, smiling shyly. He didn’t know how the older male would respond to his confession; if that was what you’d call it...

Sam:
As the boy talked, the smiled on Sam's face widened. He bit his lip and chuckled, "Well, I guess you'll have to deal with the girl..." He chuckled and hugged Chris tightly, smiling as he did. He waited for the boy to get ready, squatting and just thinking.

Chris:

Christopher smiled happily when Sam hugged him. The fact that his face was as red as a fire truck didn’t really matter, what mattered was that he had told Sam how he felt.
He looked around to see if anyone was looking at them before kissing his mentor; it was nothing big, just a small peck.
He liked the sound of the older male’s laughter, it was a nice laughter. It wasn’t like when one of his friends laughed, then it would almost sound like a dog barking. Sam’s laughter always seemed to raise his spirits, cheering him up if he had a bad day.

“So, what are your plans for tomorrow? Got anything exiting scheduled for tomorrow?” Christopher asked as he got dressed, looking curiously at the other male.
The Nomex hood was warm, sticking to his face as he pulled it over his head.
He shouldn’t complaint, this thing might be hot as an oven, but it could save his face in the end.
He thought while zipping the large jacket

Sam:
Sam watched as the boy got completely dressed. He couldn't help but to observe his long smooth movements as he dressed him self. His mind went back to when they were changing the first time, but he tried not to. He couldn't help it; he wanted this boy. "No, nothing planned tomorrow. You?"

The fire had started in the building and it was ready for Chris to go in for testing. Sam bit his lip and stood. "Almost time." He checked around them for anyone and then pulled the boy in a tight hug, kissing her cheek softly, "You're gunna do great." His mind kept slipping between his concern for the boy and how he wanted him. The boy was sweet and adorable.

As the boy made his way to the building, Sam cringed, only concerned now for the boy's safety.

Chris:

"No, nothing planned tomorrow. You?" he heard Sam say.
Christopher smiled and looked back at the other man “Nothing. Wanna come over and watch some baseball? The Mets are playing against the Dodgers tomorrow evening…You can tell me after this, no pressure”.
He laughed nervously and started walking towards the burning building.

His heart pounded and the palms of his hands were sweaty.
The place reeked of the gasoline they had used to start the fire.
He could feel the heat of the flames as soon as he stepped inside the building. The whole place was burning brightly in bright orange colors.
The pressure mask he was wearing was already humid because of his fast breathing.
He had to calm down, or else would fail miserably.

He had to get the first dummy; the only problem was that he didn’t know where it was.
Sam had said that there were three different dummies per floor and one on the roof.
Well, the only solution to that problem was looking.

Christopher headed for the first door, walking into a room full of smoke.
A couple of minutes had already passed, after he had walked into the building because he had to clear his mind.
He had to hurry, or he would be in trouble.
The first dummy was in the second room he searched; because the room had no windows, he would have stumbled over the doll if he hadn’t been careful enough to bow down and check if something was on the floor.

The doll was as heavy as a full grown man, Christopher breathed heavily as he placed the doll onto his shoulders.
“Oh god” he whispered before mumbling a few curses.
He almost tripped and fell, over a piece of “Non flammable crap”, dropping the large doll.
Christopher didn’t want to waste any more time, so he hurried and picked it up again as headed for the exit.
He placed the doll outside on the ground, hurrying inside again to pick up another doll.
He did this a couple of times, until he had found all the dolls on the 1st floor.

Sam:

Sam waited anxiously for Chris to get done with the test. He really was getting worried about the boy when it took him a while to get the first floor done. "Come on Chris! You're gunna do fine! Just calm down!" He said as Chris placed the last dummy from the first floor. He had to stay at the place that was marked off, but he really wanted to help the boy. He knew a few guys who had passed out in there from hyperventilation.

Sam was excited, though, to get invited to Chris's place. He couldn't wait to spend more time with Chris.

Chris:

Christopher felt very tired when he carried the last dummy down from the roof.
He didn’t know for just how long he had been inside the burning building.
He couldn’t keep track of the time, and looking at the wristwatch wasn’t an option.

For a brief moment he had to take a break on the stairs, since his legs felt all wobbly.
Something wasn’t right it was getting hard to breath.
He brushed it off as a lack of water, and exercise, since he had forgotten to drink at least some water before starting the test. That might explain the dizziness too.
Sure, he had had a sip of coffee, but that was about it.

Christopher blushed as he thought of what had happened in the break room.
He shook his head as he tried to snap out of it, right now he didn’t have time to get distracted.
He coughed shortly before heading towards the entrance of the building.
This was the last dummy and then he would just have to wait and see what the verdict was.

The sun was hiding behind a cloud and the wind was nice and cool as Christopher stepped out of the building.
“So” he said and suppressed a cough “Did i pass?” placing the dummy on the ground.
He smiled widely and took the helmet off, followed by the Nomex hood.

He covered his mouth before coughing and used the wall for support.
He wiped his mouth with the back of his gloved hand, noticing the ever so slightly discoloured salvia.
“Ah... so that’s it” ha said and tried to crack a smile “The helmet came loose when i dropped the doll...”
At least his voice wasn’t hoarse and he didn’t have a headache yet.
He held onto Sam’s jacket, swaying slightly.
“I didn’t do as well as hoped for, huh?”

Sam:

Sam immediately was concerned about Chris when he came out.
"Chris, Chris, Sit down, okay?" He held Chris's shoulders and helped him down to the ground. He put a hand on Chris's back and led him to lay down.
"Okay, Imma give you some oxygen to help you breath a little, Alright?" He pulled out the oxygen tank and mask he had with him and put the mask on Chris. As he did, Sam gently brushed Chris's hair back.

Smiling down at the boy, he sat next to him, "Don't worry, you did fine... You're gunna be fine." He looked down at the boy's beautiful eyes. He blushed a bit and bit his lip.

Chris:

He coughed a little when Sam put the mask on his face, but it was still far better that before.
Lying down on the ground helped a bit, and his head stopped spinning
“How did I do? Are all the dummies there?” he asked and smiled, trying to get the older man to think of something less serious. He didn’t like it when the atmosphere was too heavy.
“And, you needn’t worry so much; i don’t even have a headache, but I’m kinda glad that you worry about me...so, thank you”

He reached up and briefly caressed Sam’s face, touching his lips with thumb.
“Sam, why do you always bite your lip?”

Sam:

Chuckling, Sam looked down at the cute boy, "I do it when I'm nervous... and I'm nervous when I'm with you." He leaned down and kissed Chris's cheek. "You did great, Chris." Cradling Chis's head in his lap, Sam looked around, "But... I think I'll take you back to my place to watch after you... unless you think you're fine." Sam's hand moved in small circles on Chris's chest.

Chris:

“It doesn’t look like you’re nervous to me, although i too feel just as nervous as you say you are”
Christopher closed his eyes as he was kissed by Sam. It felt really nice, even if it was just a peck on the cheek.

“But... I think I'll take you back to my place to watch after you... unless you think you're fine.”
When Sam said this, Christopher let out a fake cough and blushed before hiding his face in his hands.
“No, it’s no good. I’m still not well enough to be on my own; something bad might happen to me if i were to be home alone, watching baseball by myself tonight.”
He smiled widely, looking at Sam. “It’s a hunch...sorta”

He hauled himself up onto his elbows, turning around so that they faced each other.
“I’m sorry that i make you feel nervous, and...I’d really like to spend some time at your place”
He blushed again as he took off the oxygen mask. Next to the confession, this was probably one of the most embarrassing things he had ever said.
He placed a hand on Sam’s neck, before gently pressing his lips against the older males’.

Sam:
When they reached Chris's place, Sam smiled over at the boy slightly. He got out of his car and went to the side Chris was on, helping him out.

Chris
The car held to a stop before a red brick building.
Getting helped out was a little awkward, but he was glad that sam helped him out. "Thanks"
He was feeling a lot better and he could walk by himself, but he still coughed once in a while. He had felt so stupid on the way to his apartment. Jeez, if only i hadn't screwed up on the test, he thought as he took the keys to the front door out of his pocket.
"This is it" he said and opened the door, "i live on the fourth floor, but hey're repairing the stairs so we have to take the elevator"
He hit the button to the small elevator and leant up against the entrance's door frame.

he'd forgotten to buy groceries, but they could call for a pizza if they got hungry.
"The only thing i have to offer is pasta, but we could go get something else if you want?", he said as the elevator doo opened with a small ´ding´.
An elderly lady stepped out of the elevator, greeting him with a smile before she walked out the front door.
the elevator suddenly seemed smaller than usual.

Sam:
Getting into the elevator with Chris, Sam smiled at him, "Pasta is just fine by me." He smiled slightly at the boy, chewing the inside of her lip.

Chris:
"Alright then, pasta it is".
He stepped out of the elevator when it reached the 4th floor. Chris fumbled with his keys before finally opening the door.
A small sigh escaped his lips as he looked around his apartment. He should've cleaned up a little, the embarrasing pink tea kettle was still standing on the stove.
He took off his jacket and walked over to the kitchen. "You want something?" he said loud enough for Sam to hear.

Chris took out a beer and drank half of it, the kiss from earlier still fresh in his memory. He grabbed another beer and placed it on the kitchen counter for sam if he wanted any.

Sam:
Following Chris into the apartment, Sam observed everything there was to observe. It was a nice apartment and fairly well kept. He stood next to the counter and grabbed the beer, opening it with one hand, "Thanks..." After a few sips of the beer, he moved over to Chris, smiling slightly. P;acing a finger under Chris's chin, he lifted his head to meet his own and kissed him softly, "You are going to be a great fireman."

Chris:

Christopher felt lightheaded when Sams moist lips pressed against his, the palms of his hands tingled faintly as he placed his right hand on the older male´s shoulder, his fingertips barely touching the back of the shirt. "I hope so" he said. standing so close, made his thought whirl around incoherently, and the thought of how he wanted more only made him blush. "I learned from te best, didn´t I?" he asked and smiled, just before standing on tiptoe, although it was something he could live without, so he could steal a kiss.
The faint taste of beer still remained on Sam´s lips.
