Introduction
The year is 3015 and technology is all but forgotten and the world is all but destroyed. Few remember and even fewer know what caused this sudden destruction of the world know as, the Rebirth. It was said that during the Rebirth magic was brought to the world through the Eden Stone. Mundane mortals and creatures began to control impossible powers that denied reason. However this great power came at a great cost. The original Eden Stone was a destructive and uncontrollable wonder, routinely laying waste to vast sections of the world. The people became scared as they watched the Eden Stone devour their world.
The people rallied against this wondrous engine of destruction and shattered it. Most of the shards embedded themselves within the world and from these shards grew acres upon acres of crystalline wasteland. However the core of the Eden Stone remained, tame enough for mortals to control it's ruinous power. Thus Eden city was born, and the stone's guardians were created. These guardian's are mortals who chose to merge with the crystal, forming a symbiotic relationship with not only the crystal but themselves as well. These guardians posses a portion of the crystal's incredible energy. Unfortunately these guardians rarely retain memories of their mortal life and due to the intense energy flowing throughout their body they often slowly go insane.
DENIZENS OF EDEN
Ma'hi - The Ma'hi are the descendents of the Human race. The energies from the Eden Stone influenced their development, granting almost every Ma'hi control over magical energies. The Ma'hi are more often agile rather than strong, and prefer elegance to brute force. Their bodies are often a light brown color with natural crystalline tattoos covering their bodies. These markings give the Ma'hi their energy and often emit a faint glow.
Humans - Humans are the stuff of legends, glorious heroes and valiant fighters. Countless stories chronicle the exploits of the now-extinct Human race. The humans were the ones that destroyed the Eden Stone and paved the way for the Ma'hi. It was their archaic technology that allowed for the containment and eventual harvesting of the Eden Stone's massive power. Some say the Humans created the Ma'hi and others believe the Ma'hi are direct blood descendents of Humans.
Guardians - Guardians are chosen from the Ma'hi for the abnormal amount of magical power they can wield. The process of becoming a Guardian is fairly simple, yet few survive the transformation. To become a guardian one must merge their energy with the Eden Stone. This is easier said than done as the Eden Stone is just as likely to devour the potential guardian as it is to bestow power to the candidate. The transformation removes memories and overloads the guardian with power. This power is intoxicating and few guardians retain their sanity for very long.
Daemons - No one is sure of what daemons are. They are intangible creatures that are more often than not invisible. Only the most powerful of daemons can interact with the material world, and even then they are incredibly susceptible to magic-based attacks. However, daemons can posses the soul of a poor Ma'hi. This possession removes their weakness to magic and in fact grants them access to a particularly destructive form of energy known as witchfire. Witchfire often manifests itself as a blue flame that can melt even the crystalline structures of Eden City. However, very rarely a daemon's witchfire does not manifest as blue flame but a variety of other powers.
Wasters - These denizens of the Crystal Wasteland are horrors to behold. Twisted humanoid figures with large crystal shards jutting painfully from their broken forms. They form small warbands that raid outlying Ma'hi settlements. Wasters indeed posses magic, however this magic is incredibly unrefined and it is not unheard of for their magic to backfire. Wasters speak in broken sentences and show a very poor level of intelligence. Very rarely a Waster can function in civilized society, they are often less contorted and twisted than their brethren. These Wasters are known as Tainted and while they are often heavily discriminated against, they are allowed to lived with the Ma'hi.
TECHNOLOGY
Technology is far from what we would know of today. Computers do not exist and firearms are crude and often rely on archaic black powder firing methods. The occasional weapon is enhanced with naturally magic crystals, forming what is known as Cry-tech (Crystalline Technology). Cry-tech weaponry is incredibly efficient but lacks the power of it's black powder cousins. For this reason Cry-tech weapons are often melee as the wielder's natural strength is augmented by the crystal's power. Cry-tech is not limited to weaponry, as most everything within Eden City is powered by crystalline energies.

Re: In Defense of the Eden Stone
Welcome to the RP!
I'm going to post a in the "roleplayers wanted" thread to try and draw more people here. I'll probably do this tonight or tomorrow morning after I add some more stuff to the intro.
Feel free to bring friends if you think anyone would be interested.

Re: In Defense of the Eden Stone
Sort of, while most magic is mundane and very straightforward. Oftentimes people choose to focus on a particular discipline or style of magic (ex: Fire Magic, Feedback Magic, Earth Magic, etc.) very few mages are the same or even similiar.
Well, I just updated the intro tab, and I'm going to continue updating it. In all honesty I probably should have fleshed this out a lot more before I posted it, but live and learn I guess.
Re: In Defense of the Eden Stone
So, the powers granted by the shards are just standard magic? Alright then. Are there any other details other RPers should know?
Re: In Defense of the Eden Stone
As far as plot goes, I was hoping for this to be a relatively free-form RP. As in the setting is there and we as a group create the plot.
Sorry if this doesn't answer your questions too well, I just got home from work and I'm a bit tired. But does that make sense?
Re: In Defense of the Eden Stone
Questions, though: what, exactly, are these powers? What separates a guardian from a... regular person who uses the Eden Stone shard? What, exactly, are we supposed to be doing here (plot)?
