Introduction
Tandara, the northern region of the New Continent, is host to a wide range of landscapes, from the fertile lowlands held by the colonies, to the thick bush of the Frontier, to the vast rolling prairies, to desolate badlands, to high mountains in the far west that no colonist has ever seen, but they're spoken of by many of the nomadic tribes who have traveled the land for generations, for indeed another people have lived here before, as diverse as those of the East Continent. Supposedly many kingdoms of theirs have risen and fallen in the south, but in the north there was once a Confederation of Peace of which all the people of Tandara were united in. Such a peace had collapsed, however, as drought, plague, war, and finally the re-awakening of the Celestial Beasts came about, for the continent truly belongs to them—monstrous enormous creatures which absolutely no weapons can harm, not even those brought by the early settlers, creatures that include a moose taller than two steam ships, and a serpent that could swallow a freight train whole. They are considered Gods, guardians of the land, who absolutely despise usurpers of peace.
The nomad tribes have held a tradition of tracking and leading these colossal creatures away from settlements, a tradition that is many times older than the Confederation of Peace. Now, some tribes take up contract work for the colonial settlers to protect various lands, lands which colonies then claim as property, despite many tribes considering the land to belong to all living things. With the beasts having been guided far from Colonial lands, settlers have been pushing east into the Frontier, where new land and resources lie, the Frontier. The Frontier was once infamous for its lawlessness, but when Oceania signed over the rights to colonize the territory to Hong after losing a war, railroads, ports, telegram lines, and the Imperial Guard brought order, albeit with some lasting grudges from the Islish squatters, among other groups in the area, as Yokhan lords were allowed to claim government land if they rented a sizable portion of it to the squatters, yet the wealthy lords would find ways to subvert the squatters at every turn, and often the law seems to work strangely in their favor.
Except in the case of the Bulletproof Bushranger. There are many bounties placed on an outlaw of this identity, them and their gang, the , but they seem to elude the law at every opportunity. Once effective horse thieves, the gangs have performed even greater crimes since, up to and including holding entire towns hostage to rob their banks. Their crimes never target the common man, instead being aimed at the rich lords.
