Appearance: A middle-aged man, John has wrinkles underneath his eyes and about his forehead. Signs of many sleepless nights laboring over his life's work. He has light brown hair but it's starting to lose it's color becoming grey. He has blue eyes and no notable marks or scars of any kind. He is of average built, not fit, but not out of shape either. He commonly wears a dress shirt and slacks and his lab coat when at work.

Personality: John Dee is an honest man who has never been a criminal prior to unleashing Dr. Destiny. He believes in the value of ethics and believes in using science to benefit humanity. He was a hard worker and had a genuine love for science. Despite his love for science his social behavior was questionable. He was seen as a shut-in, preferring to spend his time alone in the lab. Some people say he was obsessed with is projects and wouldn't engage in other activities until he was satisfied. His relationship with his daughter was similar as well, not to say he doesn't love her to death, but was seen as to single-minded and his attention was on his work. Despite what other's might believe his determination was based solely on love and hope for a better tomorrow.

When Destiny got a hold of him, John now suffers a constant conflict with himself. He feels nothing but agony as the guilt over his actions and the constant horror he suffers from the illusions cast on him by Destiny, is making the once good-hearted doctor drift slowly into insanity.

Abilities & Equipment: Scientist: Being a doctor in the field of physics, John Dee is gifted with a high intellect. This comes from many years of hard work and a need to improve his knowledge.

Nightmare Contagion: After coming into contact with Dr. Destiny, John Dee has the power to infect other people with nightmares created by Destiny. This is how he initiated the spread of a virus-like illusion over the city. John in not in control of this power and instead acts more like a host for Destiny to enact it's plans.

Weaknesses: John Dee is a normal human and hasn't even any special abilities or traits (beyond his intellect). So therefor he suffers all the weaknesses of the human body. He is also very mentally unstable, making him very unreliable without the guidance of Destiny.

Personal History: John Dee grew up in a single parent household with his father, Ruthven Dee. His father was an retired scientist who taught high school science. While his mother Ethel, a woman who is all but a mystery to John, left them when he was very young. During his childhood it was his father's love for science that transmitted into John's adoration. It would lead him unto his path of becoming scientist himself one day. Yet, John's father was strict requiring him to study through most of his down time. At first he did as he was told but as he grew older began to resent the strict regimen his father put him through. He slacked off when he was a teen and gotten into trouble at school. His father of course was initially angered by his son's rebelliousness.

Having a tendency to push a problem far too hard, his father spoke ill of the mother he never knew and like her, pushed John away. John lived on his own for awhile out on the streets. Life was even more harder without a home and money than living in a house with some money. John would have left for home sooner if he wasn't so prideful. After a month however he decided to return, tired of the hard life and saw the value of an education. His father was sorry for his behavior and allowed John to do what he feels is right. John went back to school and earned his diploma. John continued his education and went to an university. There he studied physics and planned to be a scientist studying energy. It was at the university where he would meet Penny, to whom he married after he graduated with his doctorate.

He soon received a position at S.T.A.R. Labs in Metropolis moving out of his hometown in Gotham. Once their he worked hard to impress his superiors, hoping to be signed on for one of their promising fuel projects. While in Metropolis his wife gave birth to his daughter Alice, and for a time things where happy. Although this happiness would soon not last. John, like his father, fell under the tendency to care more about his work than his own family. He was hard pressed to produce results once he earned the project he always wanted to be apart of. Research and development of a new, portable, energy source. Yet this task appeared to be insurmountable and drove John ragged over it. His irritability was stressing his marriage and when he snapped one day, his wife left. John felt the worse he's felt since he ran away from home all those years ago. With a failing marriage and a child to look after, John was desperate for a solution. Soon one will present itself in the form of the Dreamstone, but once that happens...he'll wish they never brought it to him.
