Introduction
Meeting Again
Seeing him made old feelings rush to the surface, but Carson couldn’t go back down that road. She was stupid the first go around and refused for Nick Paris to ever humiliate her again. He was a well-know writer now, living it up in California that was the last Carson had heard. Carson kept to her own coast in New York and stayed in the lines of her art work. Now, in hopes of having a peaceful vacation, Carson has stolen away to her family’s inn.
Carson had been more than in love with Nick. She was ready to give him everything and had already given him something she could never get back; her first love and her first time. Still, Carson didn’t regret giving herself to Nick. She’d love him and that’s what had mattered. It had also mattered when he looked her square in the eye and told her he was done with her. She had never meant anything more than a fuck to him. Or, that’s what he’d lead her too believe.
Carson had never told Nick of her wonderful family’s inn and she was stunned, to say the least, when she showed up there and Nick was standing in the small living room that doubled as a lounge. As soon as his eyes met hers, she could see the surprise registered there. No. No. No. This can’t be happening! Was all Carson could scream inside her own mind. He’d already destroyed her heart and to make matters worse, Carson had never gathered the courage to get over the man. He’d been the first thing she’d thought of every single time she laid her head down to sleep and the first when her eyes opened to the rising sun.
The break-up had taken place three years ago and since then Carson had grown up. She wouldn’t let Nick Paris screw her over again.
So, what exactly was Nick Paris doing there? The small quaint inn that belonged to Carson’s family was the location in his next novel and Nick was there on a research gathering. Along with him he’d brought Kelly Neal, his publisher and manager. Kelly wasn’t interested in Nick for anything other than sex and that’s the way it was with him. Even so, Carson is very jealous. Thinking Nick is there with some girlfriend, she’s particularly delighted when her parents announce that they have invited Carson’s high school sweetheart, Jonathan Daniels.
For a reason unknown, this pisses Nick off and now, he has his sights set back on a flame he’d convinced himself so long ago would never work. He’d never wanted to end things with Carson to begin with. He’d fallen for her and he’d fallen hard. He didn’t know what to do with himself. He had never felt that way about any woman and those feelings for Carson had scared Nick into pushing her away. But, that didn’t make him forget her. He had never went a day without thinking about her. Never.
