Introduction
It has racked the thriving nation of Egypt for more than four years. A once strong and fearless Pharaoh now lays dying in his bed. The Romans, enemies of the Egyptians, are just receiving word of the Egyptian king's failing and building forces for an invasion. The devastating blow to the Roman side has left them with little other option if they have any hope to win the war. The Egyptians have brought back spoils from Rome that outnumber anything previously dreamed of...and each day new spoils continue to arrive.
In Egypt...
As the Egyptian royal family waits on their dying patriarch, the Crown Prince, a man just entering his twenties, prepares himself for the role ahead. The High Queen, his mother, feels a mix of sorrow and pride as her husband wanders toward the Afterlife and her son readies himself for power. The younger prince and princesses find themselves torn in their feelings as well. As the Egyptian throne is about to be vacated, the war leaves the Crown Prince weary.
In Rome...
In Rome, a secret pain is racking the royal family. The eldest princess and her closest servant, who went into hiding because of the near Egyptian invasion on the capital, has gone missing. Her older brother, the Crown Prince of Rome, finds desperately tries to hide the loss of his sister while balancing a war and a new wife. The Roman Emperor searches for ways to rebuild the spirit of his people.
