Introduction

The Story

The Past

The year was 2021. Life on Earth hadn’t changed much, some upgrades to security and medicine here and there, but beyond that, it wasn’t much different than today. Unfortunately, that’s the bad news of this story.

For one uncharacteristically hot day in October, we were invaded. We were invaded by a horribly barbaric race of Aliens who called themselves the K’theran. Horrible giant lizard like men who seemed to be most comfortable in intense heat and in the water. Their ships far outgunned our jets and missiles, and one of their ground troops could rip open a tank. Even in our desperation where we tried to nuke them, the K’theran’s simply bathed in the radiation as if it was a gift. All seemed hopeless.

That is, until another alien race came. These much different from the hulking and brutish K’theran, these were the Psy’tan. They came in their ships and told us that they were once victims of the K’theran’s invasion and had lost their home world to them. They now sought to help those plagued by them. With our forces united, we drove the K’therans back and blasted most of their ships into oblivion. The world cheered and invited the Psy’tan to join us in the celebration. Seeing as without them we would be lost, and they had no home to go too, we invited the Psy’tan to make Earth their new home. They accepted gladly.
For years we learned about one another. As our culture seemed to put most of our efforts into medicine and entertainment, they apparently put most of their efforts into space travel and exploration. So, we offered them severe advances to their medicine and they offered us advancement in space travel. The partnership was grand. The Psy’tan found our race incredibly attractive, and they weren't bad themselves, so we began breeding together. Though, oddly enough, the children of a Human and Psy’tan were always female. There has never once been an incident with a male offspring. The children looked mostly human, except their rather pale complexion that looks almost blueish in certain lights and their piercing orange eyes. Psy’tan’s cultures and ours became so closely bound, that we even took up their language as a secondary one.
Though, adding 3 billion more life forms to our planet caused us to use up Earth a lot faster than we anticipated. So, together, we set out for the stars. We terraformed almost an entire galaxy of new earths from the dead rocks floating around the Milkyway. Beyond the K’theran and the Psy’tan, we never once met up with another species.

Image

The central planets of our new galaxy, the ones that the richest and most influential of our lot migrated to, decided that the entire galaxy should have to do what they say, after all, they had the most advanced technology. See, when the planets and moons were terraformed, some people got the more advanced and the luxurious technologies. Most were dropped off with nothing more than some blankets, some hatchets and a herd of cows if they were lucky enough.

Image

The Central planets got to calling themselves The United Coalition of Planets. Most people just call them the Coalition or Coalers. They are a parliamentary backed by an aristocracy. The rich just couldn’t wait to get a government that openly supports the rich over everyone else. They fought the whole galaxy so they could be in charge, and then ignore everybody’s problems equally. Some people tried to fight’em, not too much luck though. The Independents just wanted to be in charge of the life they made for themselves, mostly farm boys and miners. They gave the Coalition one hell of a fight though. 7 years of fighting, then Unification.

The Present

The year is 2528. It’s been just 6 years since Unification day and the Galaxy isn’t any better than it was. If anything, it’s worse. About 20% of the galaxy’s population lives on the core worlds, everybody else is out on the rim, in the boonies of space. Since the Coalition came and went from the outer worlds, a number of crime syndicates have risen and whole heap of more dangers that most of the core worlds don’t have to deal with.
The best way to make a living out here in the black is to get yourself a ship, a crew and keep flying. A ship will get you work, a gun will help you keep it. Because out here in space, it’s not that people can’t hear you scream….they just don’t care.

The Basics

Basically this is an rp based off of Firefly, with my own twists and backstory put into it. So yes, there are things like Companions and mudders and the like. The basic story is similar to that of the crew of Serenity. You are either a part of the crew of a space ship, whose only source of income is doing motley and usually illegal jobs such as robbery or smuggling. Or you are passenger who is paying the crew to transport you somewhere, no questions asked. Maybe you’re on the run from the Coalition, maybe you’ve always wanted to get off your boring rock and see the galaxy or maybe you’re just looking for some work, it’s a tough galaxy out there. Basically, even if you don’t start out a member of the crew, you can become a member once the rp starts going, so don’t worry your pretty head none.

Races

(Playable)Human:………..Yeah, I’m not going to explain this. If you’re not sure what a Human is…….Google it.

(Playable)Psy’tan: The Psy’tan are a short and rather lithe people. Due to their species deficiency at storing fat, you will never see a Psy’tan of substantial girth. Akin to this, the Psy’tan cannot go long without eating food. Where a Human can survive several weeks without food, a Psy’tan might only survive maybe 3 to 4 days. The Psy’tan have varying blue pigments to their skin with expanded pupils and orange sclera. They have no irises. The Psy’tan are a Amphimammalian species. Meaning they are mammals that can also live for prolonged periods under water. Their ancestors were predominately Amphibian, so they grew their culture underwater. Due to this, the Psy’tan developed a form of Telepathy in order to communicate with one another in the water. Now, they cannot read minds, but they can open a link between minds and communicate through thought, like a walkie-talkie. They also have incredible vision in any light, or no light. When we first met the Psy’tan, their average life span was around 50 years. Now, with their improvements to medicine, they now can live up to 100 or so. Psy’tan are rather rare outside of the Core Worlds of the Coalition for one reason or another. It’s not inconceivable that one could be found on the rim, but it’s not an everyday occurrence. Seeing as the Psy’tan don’t do that great with the cold, they don’t often elect to be on a space ship. There aren’t many full-blooded Psy’tan left as most of them paired off with human to create Psys.

(Playable:ONLY 1)Psy: A Psy is the off-spring of a Human and Psy’tan. Instead of creating a being that just has half traits for one and half traits from another, the merging of the two species creates an entirely different one. For one thing, they are all female. It is impossible for a male Psy to be born. Physically they look mostly human save for having very pale complexions, no matter how much time they spend in the sun. Their irises are also three times larger than a humans, meaning most of what you see from their eyes just looks pure orange save a pupil. That’s another thing, all Psy’s have orange eyes and their hair colors usually go to extreme colors that are not usually found in natural human hair colors. The thing that makes Psy’s so exceptionally amazing is their psychic abilities. Unlike their Psy’tan parents, they don’t have telepathy, but what they can do is extraordinary. They can read the minds and emotions of the people around them. Almost as if the people were telling them the information themselves. Some have even boasted the ability to control objects with their mind and even take over a man’s mind and control them like a puppet. Though that might be all here say. A trait all of them share though, is the ability to learn things incredibly quickly. One would simply have to stare at an intricate dance for maybe a minute and they would be able to perform as if they had been studying for years.

They sound super powerful right? Well, it seems there are several prices to pay for it. One, constantly hearing thoughts and analyzing everything, Psys aren’t exactly all there. They often have incredibly poor social skills and can go from sounding like a super genius to sounding like a 5 year old very quickly. They are also very impulsive and usually do not think before they act. Not to mention their restricted rights. That’s right. When a Psy becomes 14 years of age, they must be admitted into Shoran’s Academy for the Gifted. Parents who send their children to this facility often never hear from them again. And if they do, they are……different. The Coalition uses Psys as super weapons. In order to mold them to be super soldiers, they have to do horrible….horrible things to them. Inhuman things. Escape from the facility is almost impossible without outside help, and even then, it would just be improbable. For this reason, no one outside of the Core has ever seen a Psy. The Coalition will actually fly out to the rim to hunt Psy’s down and bring them in. Most people in the galaxy just think these colorful women are just that, girls with weird hair style and pretty eyes. In fact, the Rim would be a perfect place to hide from the Coalers…..if she could keep on the move.

(Unplayable)Blighter: So we've heard about what happens to the offspring between a Human and a Psy’tan. But, what about the offspring of a Human and a K'theran? Believe it or not, when the K'theran invasion began, they were groups of humans who supported them. When they were defeated, we kicked those humans off planet along with the K'therans. So in the blackness of space, the K'therans soon learned that there was an adverse affect from bathing in our radiation. The entire race had become sterile, or so they thought. They found that they could not breed with one a nother, but they could breed with the Humans. So soon, their human allies became their sex slaves and started to create an entirely new race out in the farthest corners of the Galaxy. Unlike Psy's, Blighters are all male......and monstrous. They appear to have no skin, only musculature. They are large and have sharp fangs and claws. Unlike their parent species, they seem to be sub-sentient. They may have enough intelligence to fly a ship or make weapons and clothing, but not enough to treat life with it's proper respect. They are all monsters. They rape their victims to death, eat their flesh and sow their skin for clothing. Their bodies give off a distinct radiation that seems to Blight any land they set foot on, rendering it dead. "Nothing ever grows where a Blighter has roamed." They use savage swords and axes. They are inhumanly strong and durable and some say that their bodies can heal themselves. Then again, no one has ever survived a Blighter attack, in the strictest sense of the word. Those who do were allowed to and have been mutated by them. Within a few days, he'll begin to look like one, then....he'll begin to think and act like one. Within two weeks, the man is gone and only a Blight remains. Blighters fly around in derelict ships with no core control and little life support systems. They pillage and slaughter with no goal insight. They are evil in the purest sense of the word. They can't be bargained, they can't be reasoned with, they only consume. Most people in he Coalition believe they are just flights of fancy and camp fire tales. That they are simply men who went mad in outer space. But....everyone on the Rim knows all too well that they are real and they are not men. They are Death. You don't fight Blighters....you just run.

Language

The Psy’tan are so integrated into the human culture that we have adopted their language as a second one. We predominately use their language(Called Ryniiz) for casual slang and cussing. No one knows why, we’ve just been doing it for years. Here is a little cheat sheet for basic slang terms.

Kahi=Awesome, sweet, great

Dahl ma?=Understand?

Ayo=Surprise and alarm(Ayo!)

Shemram=Goddamn

Tenshi’du=Idiotic, stupid, suicidal (Refers to an act or decision)

Hatei=Sexy

Lei-lei=Baby, sweetie, sugar

Bogo=Moron, idiot (Refers to a person)

Swi’swa=Homosexual (Not negative, just refers to one….though it is often used negatively by some of the more ignorant people on the Rim)

Sa’k=Fuck (Used for all of the same things fuck would be used for. i.e. Sa’king, Sa’ked, Sa’k’in)

Grop=A disgusting pig like creature from Nauril, the Psy’tan’s home planet.(You son of a grop! You are such a grop.)

Cunt=……..cunt. It’s a very popular word on the Border Planets, though impossibly frowned upon on the Central planets.

Ain’t=An incorrect contraction for both are not and is not. If you are from or spend most of your time on the border planets, this is probably the word you say the most. Only people raised in the high life of the Coalition use proper contractions, if any.

(You can make up your own Ryniiz word or saying as the roleplay goes on. If you do, I will put it on this list. Get creative!(Huh, it’s like asking carpenters to cut wood)

The Ship and Crew

Cora Belle

Image

Cora Belle is an old Odanata model Gunboat that was used pre-War of Unification. They were for long range patrolling and military transport. They become obsolete about 20 years ago since the new ARBITER class Gunship came out. The Coalition decided they didn't need singular transports and decided to make smaller, faster and better armed ships that would be housed in Cruisers instead of solitary. So, all 40,000 left over Odanata had their weapon systems stripped and sold to the market for military profit.

Image

Though Cora Belle has no guns, she still has a lot of character. Odanata class ships had a lot of storage space for supplies, but mostly ammunition. They also have a lot of nooks and crannies that would be expected with a ship that was designed for durability and longevity instead of class and power. The large munition rooms have been re purposed to be guest quarters that can fit up to six. The large barracks styled screw quarters have been redesigned into four rooms total for crew members so they can each have their own room. The Captain of course sleeps in the captains quarters....but honestly you can't really tell the difference between a crew room and the captains room. The crew and captains room all come equipped with a sink, toilet and shower. Though, the waters never hot and only stays on for about 3 minutes. Need the water for drinking, we're all in space after all. There are two public bathrooms for passenger use. They are both unisex bathrooms. Cora Belle also comes equipped with two Endo/Atmo shuttles that can fit four comfortably. The Captain has also known to rent them out as private rooms to "Thems that can pay." Cora Belle also has space suits, because its a space ship.........yeah.

Last thing. The name of the ship is "Cora Belle" not "The Cora Belle". Every member of the crew is very versed in this fact and knows what happens when the ship is addressed incorrectly. One warning, then.........a private meeting with the Captain. Every crew member should highlight this fact whenever it is brought up. Cora Belle is treated more like a person than a ship.

The Crew

The Personalities written below are more suggestions and guidelines than requirements for your character. They are simply meant to help you create a character. Though, you shouldn't ignore them completely either. All roles can be either male or female.

Captain Naliff Murdock:(Taken by Sneakyrio)The Captain of Cora Belle is not a man of many words. He often says what needs to be said and is done. His past remains mostly a mystery. the only thing that hints at it is a large tattoo on his left pectoral of an eclipsed sun. Anyone on the wrong side of the law knows that that means he has spent sometime in a max lock-down prison. Beyond that, no one could really say. He is a man of easy temper and surprisingly strong morals, even if their not everyone's morals. He may shoot you for saying the wrong thing, but if your on his crew, he will look out for you. Even if he hates your guts, if someone attacks you, he treats it as an attack on his person. Whether you love him or hate him, you can't help but have a modicum of respect for him.

First Mate Kora Neverwinter:(Taken by VitaminHeart) The First Mate has been with Captain Naliff the longest out of anybody. They have been with him ever since he bought Cora Belle and has shared in all of his adventures together with him. The Captain and the First Mate respect each other and would trust each other with their very lives. They might not always agree, but they are there for one another. On any field Mission, the First Mate is almost always in the heat of battle right alongside the Captain and Mercenary.Though they have spent several years together, even the First Mate is foggy on Naliff's exact history.

Pilot:(Open)The Pilot has been with the Captain the Second longest. No matter species or gender, the Pilot has incredible skills. They are one of the best at what they do and they know it. The Captain hired them for the purpose of piloting Cora Belle and they haven't let him down yet. Though, besides Piloting, the Pilot isn't good for much else. They are not a particularly good fighter and never go into the field. Mainly because the Pilot needs to stay with the ship, and also because they would probably just get in the way. Not saying now that the Pilot is helpless, but they wouldn't really stand a chance in a fight with the Captain, First Mate or Mercenary. The Pilot has the best relationship with the Engineer. For if the Pilot wants to try something crazy, they would have to work in tandem with he Engineer to make sure the ship is ready for whatever crazy maneuver the Pilot wants to try. Even though their stations are on the opposite sides of the ship, they work closely together.

Mercenary:(Open)When the Mercenary and the Captain first met, they were most likely on opposite sides of a laded barrel, but through coercing and the promise of a lucrative deal, the Captain won the Mercenary over. The Mercenary is one of if not the best fighter on the ship. Having extensive knowledge of any weaponry worth knowing(Namely anything that isn't used by the Coalition), they are deadly in a firefight. A crack shot with almost any kind of fire arm, they most likely know how to scrap. The Mercenary is the Muscle of the ship and is mainly present to make sure clandestine dealings go smoothly. Perhaps not the most trusted or brightest member of the crew, but an essential one. Any fight the crew has seen, you can bet the Mercenary has been though all of them. They have been with the crew most likely a little over a year.

Engineer S'ney C'lim:(Taken by Mashotu)The youngest member of the crew hands down. They are also most likely the most naive. The Engineer may not mind and even enjoy the fact that they serve on a rogue vessel, but they rarely if ever help in any way with the crime. The Engineer would spend most of their time in the engine room. The only person who is closer to the ship as the Captain is the Engineer. The Engineer is a most likely a prodigy from humble beginnings. The crew is indebted to the Engineer for continuously keeping their home and employment flying through the black. One of the most important members of the ship hands down. The work in tandem with the Pilot to pull of crazy maneuvers or just landing and taking off.

Passengers:Passengers can really be anyone. People trying to lay low from the law or a Crime syndicate. People looking for adventure out in the stars. Or maybe you just really nee work bad. You might even be a Companion searching for a ship to help expand your client base.(The Companion may also be an already established crew member if the owner wishes it.) If you want to be a Psy, you must be a passenger. THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!!....Psy, not Highlander.

Naliff

"Everyone, clear on the plan?" A rather largely built man with sideburns and a leather jacket said to his two cohorts. One, a tall stoic man who has obviously seen a lot of action in his day. The other, a lively pretty young spit fire who looked like she knew several ways to break a man. They were all standing in what looked a like a town out of a spaghetti western, tumbleweeds and the like. They stood huddled in front of an oddly modern looking building made of concrete that vastly differed from the more wooden aesthetics of the small town. The words "Municipal Bank" were spread across the top of the building. The building had cameras, but they didn't work, it was supposed to be more of a deterrent than actual security.

"No sak'in around. We let these people know we mean business, get the goods, then get out before the local do-rights come roll'in in. No killings unless absolutely necessary. Got it? Good." Naliff Murdock faced away from his partners in crime to face the door. He then pulled out one of his pistols, then cracked his neck. "Let's go be the bad guys."

The three walked in and immediately Naliff pulled the trigger on his pistol and let a shot ring out. The people inside called out in surprise and fear. As he quickly and calmly made his way through the bank he spoke loudly, his voice commanding attention. "Yes, this is a robbery, no you will not die or get hurt unless you try and stop us! Just do what the pretty lady and the man with the big gun says and everything will be kahi!" He didn't even bother telling the customers or the tellers what to do, he would leave that to James and Kora. Naliff specifically went towards the only guard who looked like he had already thrown his weapon the second he heard the gunshot.......smart kid.

Naliff got up to him, reached down and hoisted him up to his feet with one swift movement. The kid was young and scrawny and whimpered as he was lifted from the ground. "I'm not gonna hurt ya. Just open the vault for me with that spiffy little key card you got there. If ya don't make a fuss, I'll even give you a grazing shot and a knock to the head so it looked like you resisted. Dahl ma?" The kid opened an eye to him and stared at him for a bit. "So people would think I stood up to you, instead of just cowering and surrendering like I am now?" The kid asked.

"That's right, you'll be a hero. Not to mention the lady's love both a selfless man and an injured man. You'll be swimming in hatei ladyfolk." The kid's eyes lit up, looking like he was more excited about getting robbed than a sane man should be. "Alright!" The kid began walking off towards the vault with Naliff right behind him, gun at the kids back.

After punching in the code and swiping the card, the vault opened. Naliff headed inside and immediately spotted two rather large yellow metal crates. He walked up tot hem and opened one. Naliff gave a very satisfied grin upon seeing the contents of the box. He shut it and spun to face the kid. "Thanks for the help kid." Before the kid could say another word, Naliff pistol whipped the side of the boy's face and he went tumbling to the ground.

"James! Come help me with these things! He called out to his stronger crew member.

Together they pulled the two crates out of the vault and towards the door. "Thank you for your cooperation. Ya'll have a nice day now, ya hear?" They then exited the vault.

The group started to heads towards a large hover vehicle parked outside. "Kora, start up the Mule while we load the stuff. Naliff ordered his first mate as him and his muscle began to load the two large yellow crates onto the back of the mule.

Soon enough the cargo was secure and they were three aboard the Mule. Hoof beats could be heard coming from behind them. It seemed the Sheriff had finally woke up. "Punch it, Red. They soon rocketed off into the waste, leaving the law men miles in the dust. Naliff radioed in to Kef. "Start her up, Kef, we got the goods and are head'in home." A rather monotonous voice came from the other end of the radio. "Roger that."

Kef then went to another radio in the cockpit "Nim, start her up, daddy's coming home and he's bringing presents."

As they cleared the hill, a great gleam in the desert could be seen. Cora Belle. He could be headed towards that ship a million times a day for a million days and never get tired of seeing her, and he doubted he ever would. A small smile crept over his face as they approached.

Soon enough, they entered the Aft Cargo bay and began unloading the Mule. James and him put the two vrates in their stah compartment under a false floor panel in the Aft Cargo bay. "Good work out there. Now, make yourselves presentable and someone dust up the passenger rooms. After we hand over the goods to Paris, we'll be taking in passengers at Fortuna." Naliff turned and began to walk up the stairs to the second level. He then called down "We need the money. Naliff stated, as if to counter act anything said against the idea. He trotted upstairs into his quarters, not to be seen until they reached Fortuna.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fortuna

They arrived at Fortuna, a rather prosperous near-core planet with a shit ton of poor with just the right amount of nobles not to give a sa'k about them. When they touched down, they were in the middle of an impossibly crowded spaceport with hundreds of people looking around, selling wares, stealing wares and many other things of that nature. It was loud, but it was civilization, something you tend to forget out in the black. Naliff exited the ship and looked to his crew. "Alright, here's how it is. Nim, I want you to use that sweet face a yours to russle us up some passengers. Thems that can pay, and if you say another word about that new compression coil I will sock James in the mouth, it's out of budget right now." He told with care in his eyes. He could never hurt Nim.

"Red, you take some platinum and go get our supplies. Food, water, ammo, spare parts. The Basics. I don't want you coming on the deal with Paris, mainly because she hates you." He said with a bit of an apology in his tone. He knew she hated to be out of a deal, but a woman tends to remember getting her nose broken.

"Minot. you're with me. We go deal with Paris and try not to get shot. We done the job right, but you know how fickle she can get about little details. Let's go." Naliff then turned and headed into the crowd with James, heading towards a rather odd array of shanty houses.

Nathan Be'Jack

Nathan quickly looked at the listings of current arrivals. He was looking for a way off the confounded syndicate planet, one that was obviously not owned by said syndicate. Anything that had to do with snakes and spiders was out of the question, as that was the part of the syndicate's symbol. "White Lake... The Valient... Cora Belle?" That one started ringing some bells, he remembered something about it in history... A battle? A fight between the Coalition and the Independents? that should be it... Would that mean that the captain was an ex-soldier? Good enough for me! He thought, quickly noting where it landed, then bounded off. He started going so fast that he ran into a couple of guys, one looked rough, the other looked even rougher. "Oh, I'm sorry!" He said quickly before running off. On this planet, sticking around after that usually ends with a beat down, and those guys were much bigger then him. Of course, him running into a pair of syndicate henchmen right after that was much worse. "You little..." Muttered one before they recognized each other. This particular guard was the one that caught him stealing from the warehouse. "Get him!" He said to his partner, reaching for his gun.
"Hulg!" (shit) Nathan shouted, turning and running between the two he had just ran into moments ago just as bullets started flying. Nathan didn't notice if they got hit, but he felt the top of his left shoulder start burning. He rushed around the corner of a building and kept running. Can't get caught, can't get caught, can't get caught...

They pursued him for a few more minutes before they gave up, and he popped out of the garbage can. He glanced around, seeing the area was safe, and he clambered out, then started hurrying back to the docking ring. The sooner he got on that ship, the better.

Nakedra Exile

"I just had to go off into the black," Nakedra said to herself. "I just HAD to sign up for the sa'king assingment to go play super-doctor."
Nakedra was pissed. She was in the starport, looking for a ship to go to the outer planets and get to people who are too poor to pay for medicine. The worst part, she was not getting paid directly. Nope, no cash, just sa'king credits. Like they used credit on the outer worlds. But at least she was getting paid at all. Her friend said she knew a person who had abandoned post because he couldn't get enough pay, leaving his nurse to the black.
"Calm down Nakedra!" She said to herself. "You just need your coffee. You know how you get when you don't get caffeine."
Looking around, she saw several ships which seemed good, but they were, well, crappy. They looked like they would just crash as soon the engines were pumped up.
"Hey, lei-lei." Some boys were chattering at Nakedra, like that would work. At the hospital, the guys always tried to date her, trying to impress with the ambulance stories and saving patients. What a bunch of shemram lag'es (Goddamn assholes). She saved ten times that many people, and they were in critical condition. If she isn't going to fall for those bogos, she ain't falling for these grops.
One of the boys walked up to her, continuing his flirting. "Lei-lei, you're just so hatei... Want a drink? We can go all night..."
Nakedra rolled her eyes, saying, "I'd rather jump into space without a suit than examine your disgusting body."
The three other boys "oohed" at that remark. The hotshot frowned, saying, "What are you talking about, lei-lei? I had three girls in one night once! Oh, are you swi'swa?"
The boys started to laugh.
Nakedra stopped, dropped her bags and reached in her pocket.
"Hey, Lag'es"
The boy turned around to see a large Tazer shoved in his chest.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Those assholes didn't know what hit them," Nakedra Exile said to herself. They stood no chance against the electrifying powers of her Tazer. She walked through the streets, looking for a good ship. She passed several good ones, but the best she saw was the Cora Belle. It was in good condition, and it looked sharp too. Nakedra saw someone at the front of the ship, ready to get some passengers. Nakedra walked up to the her, ready to barter herself aboard.
"Hey, blondie. What's the price?"

Once Nim had started up the craft on captains orders she went to meet up with the others. Naliff started to talk and looked her way, "Alright, here's how it is. Nim, I want you to use that sweet face a yours to russle us up some passengers. Thems that can pay, and if you say another word about that new compression coil I will sock James in the mouth, it's out of budget right now."

Nim giggled at the mention of him socking James in the face but practically skipped her way out side to find some more people. She looked up at Cora Belle and sighed happily. God she loved this ship.

It wasn't long until a person who kind looked like a boy in her eyes but had the voice of a female asked, "Hey, blondie. What's the price?"
Nim's instant response was, "Oh~ Hi! My name's S'ney C'lim! But usually people just call me Nim~"
Realizing she hadn't answered the question she gave a fair price ((No idea what that'd actually be... XD)) that would work with for both the ship and girl.

"So what do you think?" Nim asked, "She's a beauty ain't she?"
God she loved this ship~
Now all she needed was a few more people once she was done talking with this one.

James Minot nodded and let out a calming sigh as he closed his eyes preparing himself. They were about to rob a bank as part of the latest job Naliff had managed to drum up for them. It wasn't the best of things to be doing but it was going to feed them.

He tightened his grip on his weapon. It was a customized scattershot laser rifle. Not much to look at but it sure did the job when called on. Basically one mean ass shotgun except it could burn a hole through four inches of metal. It was definitely one of his stronger assortment of weaponry but he couldn't pass up the chance to use it. One hand at the trigger and the other stabilizing the beast he burst in the building behind Naliff. Instantly me moved to the counter pointing his weapon at one of the clerks he demanded they start emptying deposit boxes and cash holds into the sacks. Which he would grab quickly from where they were fastened at his waist. Holding the gun with his robotic arm, and tossing the sacks at the woman's face with his free hand.

He would then turn to intimidate the nearest guard on the ground and accuse people of trying things as he waited for the to fill the sacks. It wasn't really what they were there for but it had to look like just any old robbery. Plus some spending cash sure couldn't hurt he thought as he tossed the sacks into the back of the mule. It wasn't long before he was called on to help move the actual reason they were here. No sooner had they loaded them up and he threatened to pull one guys teeth out for looking at him funny then he heard the sound of the local law enforcement showing up. Lucky for them tech here wasn't that good and they were on horseback. Clambering into the Mule, he tossed the shotgun down atop the bags and drew his pistol. Taking a few pot shots at the lawmen he purposefully missed as they got away.

Back on the ship, after hiding away the cargo, Minot was about to ask the Captain what was actually in the boxes when Naliff announced that they would be heading to Fortuna where they would be picking up passengers. A look of despair crossed Minot's face. More people on this tin can meant less space for him, less food for him, and less fun for him. But before he could argue the Naliff had already put it to rest.

He spent most of the journey there asleep or doing is daily routine of weapons checks, equipment checks, and security checks. When they had finally arrived he was pleased to actually set foot on solid ground. But his pleasure was quickly ended as he was threatened with bodily harm and then tasked to follow on the drop. He'd really wanted a smoke, drink and a sa'k but it would have to wait.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

She had just finished paying the docking fee, signing the ship in and was standing seemingly in awe on one of the docking platforms. For the first time since she could remember there was no plan. No task, or assigment she was meant to do. No liaison or handler to watch over her. She was on her own, free and suddenly very alone. She almost had the strangest urge to re-board the ship and flying right back to Shoran's begging for forgiveness. But it passed as fleetingly as it had come. She was free all right but she wasn't foolish either. She snapped back looking about the docks evaluating the area.

She knew it wouldn't be long before they figured out she'd gone AWOL and would begun hunting for her. Ilassa's mind raced as she went over the possibilities for a plan. She decided to sell off the ship and barter passage onto a new one as quickly as possible. She would have to leave a slight of a footprint here as she could. Moving through the large docking area she focused on hearing the thoughts of the people around her. It was difficult as there were a lot of people moving about thinking, making noises and the machinery made for good distractions as well. But she calmed herself and used her training to focus.

Eventually she found someone who was in need of a new ship and sold her's at a shadily low price to the man. He was skeptical at first but she managed to convince him when he actually seen the paperwork and the ship itself. She told him a tale of how she had acquired it in a game of Sheok and had found out she couldn't properly run it without a crew. Not being of captain like material she had decided to pawn it off quickly and he happen to be the lucky soul.

With her new found wealth she then purchased a few new sets of clothing, some traveling gear and bags so that she could fit the new identity she was forming. And then she set about finding the right ship to sign on. She was deciding between two newer model ship when her eye caught the Cora Belle. Something about it screamed for her and she couldn't help but be drawn to it. She moved to wait politely behind another who was bartering passage. When they were done she asked the price but before the lady could respond she stammered, "I'll pay you triple! Please just say yes!" Good job, way to not look desperate.

Nakedra Exile

The blond chick sitting at the Cora Belle just replied with her name and stuff. Who caaares what your name is! I just want to get to the sa'king border worlds, Nakedra thought. Her head was always like this without coffee. The only time she had coffee on this damn trip was on yesterday morning when she left.

"So," the lady said, "How about... 40 platinum?"

Ugh, Nakedra hated this. Platinum coins? Like a doctor from New Japan had metal coinage. The only people who used those were children, collectors, and people dealing in the black market. (Serious! Check this out! http://firefly.wikia.com/wiki/Currency)

"Do you take credits? That's all I got. Central Worlder."

Another woman, a psy by the looks of her, waited behind her. She looked nervous. She got that look a lot in the hospital, like she was about to fill the patient's arm full of needles. Why must things be so difficult? Nakedra thought, why can't I just go back and explain to the Hospital that I made a mistake? That I was to much of a spoiled brat to leave? Shut up, when you get on the ship, coffee. And anyone getting in my way is getting tazed.

"Do you take credits? That's all I got. Central Worlder." The girl before her asked. Nim actually wasn't sure if they took credits since she usually was off in her own little mechanical world. She was pretty sure the Captain would prefer hard coin, but maybe it'd be good to have some credit on hand.

"Um... I'll let you on... But I will have to double check with Naliff to see okay?" She asked, a sorry smile placed on her lips. She really felt bad. She didn't want anybody to be left behind.

When the next girl came along, one with green hair, she seemed kind of rushed. Mainly 'cause the first thing she said was, "I'll pay you triple! Please just say yes!", in a way that made it seem like she was yelling at Nim.

"Uh... Do you even have 120 platinum on you?" Nim asked. She didn't want to cheep this girl out of her money, and would be happy is she payed either 120 or 40 platinum, Of course... If she did pay 120 then they'd be that much closer to getting that new compression coil...

She had regained her composure and replied steadily, "Of course." Coffee. The thought had squirmed it's way into her head and she had almost said it aloud, but she knew it wasn't her own. Ilassa looked from the person she was negotiating with to the woman who had been before her. Focusing she blocked out enough of the chatter around her to clearly hear a few thoughts.

Shut up, when you get on the ship, coffee. And anyone getting in my way is getting tazed.

Ilassa frowned turning back to the the other woman she asked, "Can I get someone to help carry my things aboard?" She motioned to her bags she'd just recently purchased. She didn't really need help, she had been psychically moving them behind her up until now, merely laying her hand on it to avoid any suspicion. Well, anymore then she was already getting. She stood out like a flashing light around here. Her luscious green hair, pale skin and vibrant orange eyes was widely different then most people. Even though they were still technically in the core it was strange to see a Psy this far out and definitely strange to see one without Coalition goons nearby.

"It is quite heavy and I am just so tired. We can consider it part of the triple pay?" She grinned trying to appear friendly. She was really hoping that she could get aboard and lock herself in. She wanted to sleep and if she was locked away in a ship with no connection to her, it would be harder for her to be found.

Re: On The Ragged Edge

I had lost net but now that I have it again, saddened to know I'm still the last post.

Re: On The Ragged Edge

Could somebody post quickly? It starting to feel... Deserted around here.

Re: On The Ragged Edge

Completely understandable Vitamin, I know where you're coming from.

Re: On The Ragged Edge

APologies for not posting. Have had a nasty couple of days. Will post as soon as I can. =)

Re: On The Ragged Edge

So first post is going up. For all intensive purposes, our pilot for now is a young man named Kef that not many people speak to or know much about. The Pilot position is now officially open so if anyone wants to jump in for it, just let me know.

All of the people playing passengers have not actually gotten on the ship, they are getting on Cora Belle on Fortuna, which is the planet we left off on. Just make your first post assessing the planet and bartering passage onto the ship whichever way you can.

For all crew members, just react to what has happened so far and go about your business, have some fun.

Re: On The Ragged Edge

Agreed, I'm off tomorrow so I'll put the first post up tomorrow.

Re: On The Ragged Edge

Lol. Some how I completely missed that. :/

Edit: Also, I move we put to a vote or you make the decision that we use an NPC for the pilot or something. The longer we wait the less likely we will find anyone vs interest kept.

Re: On The Ragged Edge

I am just waiting on WrtteninScars to submit the Pilot and we can begin. Can't really fly around in spaceship if there's no pilot.

Re: On The Ragged Edge

Any idea as to when to start now? I submitted that mercenary to fill the slot for now until someone either gets interested or he dies. :)

Re: On The Ragged Edge

Me either. I am currently whorin' out the link to this with a few people I know.

Re: On The Ragged Edge

Alright, everyone's characters are looking great! I'm super excited for this.

We are just waiting for someone to take the Mercenary position and once their character is in, we can start.

Re: On The Ragged Edge

Edit: As per usually I am open to any and all changes you would prefer. Just shoot me a Pm and I'll work on it immediately. I am never set in stone with a character and try to be flexible as possible. I like the thought process behind her but I'm not sure I like her myself yet. ;)

Re: On The Ragged Edge

Hey Layla!!! Thanks a lot! I really appreciate it.

Re: On The Ragged Edge

Sneaky!!! Hey, yeah, I just wanted to say hi. This RP sounds epic :D Good luck!

Re: On The Ragged Edge

@WrittenInScars
The Pilot is yours.

@Quantumlegacy
The Psy is yours

@Richter Gotz
AlRIght man, I understand. I'll reserve you a passenger spot for when you get back.

Re: On The Ragged Edge

Can I please reserve The Pilot please? :)

Re: On The Ragged Edge

I really love firefly and always check the fanfics out. If you don't mind I'd like to reserve the Psy. I have a pretty good idea I think for what to do for one. If not then I'd like to be a regular ol' Human.

Re: On The Ragged Edge

On second thought, I'd better revoke my reservation. I'm actually leaving for vacation next Friday, and I don't want to gum up the works right in the beginning. When I get back, I'll join as a passenger if the Merc is taken.

Re: On The Ragged Edge

@Mashotu
You most certainly may.
