Introduction
1919 - the year the American Governement decided that it would be best to make the consumption, manufacturing and selling of Alcohol illegal. (unless you were in church of course!)
After this happened, crime in the 1920's soared. Organised crime that is...
This is where it all begins...
It's a wintery day in late January in 1923, you are either working for someone, or running the 'business'. Of course there is competition in the area, New York isn't the size of Russia and there are other gangs that will do anything to make more money than you.
There are two gangs in this roleplay - The Corleone Family and the Maloney Gang. You are in one or the other. You shall either be a 'worker' who goes about doing the dirty deeds or a 'boss' who orders the workers around and steps in when necessary. Life is not easy for these hardened gangsters, if you do something wrong to annoy the other gang, there will be no doubt that they will try to kill you. Play your cards right, and you might just live to see another day...
The plot
The plot is mainly character driven, disputes, murders and when things go wrong will all be decided by the characters themselves. An idea of what will be happening in the roleplay is below:
-Bootlegging - Importing in Alcohol from places like Canada, Cuba and Mexico to sell in the speakeasies they
run and to also bribe other people to sell their alcohol
- Bribery - A detective on their tail may finally have caught up with the gang, but there is a way out for the
mobsters. The odd crooked police officer could easily be bribed with money to keep quite, this is
a common occurance
- Arguements- Disputes between the gang members can mean things get ugly quickly...
- Murder - Do something wrong and you'l find yourself burried somewhere, but there is a way you can stay out
of that position. Keep your mouth shut and head down low.
The Corleone family
The main clue to how this 'family' works is in the name. The Corleone are indeed a family a long notorious organisation that transferred over to America just 15 years ago. They have already wedged themselves firmly in the crime world. They've never had much competition until now, they've been the most powerful gang in the whole of New York, reining terror on other much smaller organisations and once wiping out a whole gang of 20 men entirely. Members usually are direct descendants from the Godfather, marry in to the family or simply get in due to loyalty as a young boy.
The Maloney Gang.
The Maloney Gang haven't been in operation for that long a time. 10 years at the most, despite this they are ruthless and willing to kill anyone who stands in their path of gaining ultimate wealth. They used to be threatened into silence by the Corleone family but this Prohibition law has allowed them to grow in power, rivaling the long feared family. They aren't blood relatives (although some are!) and usually get into the gang by working as an 'apprentice'. Just like the Corleone family - but this is the only way into the Gang. They have tripled their power and are now stepping up the game trying to make more money than the Corleone family, although this will prove no easy task.

Please remember: Only to join as male characters - I will allow you to play the role as a wife/ girlfriend or mother to keep the reality of the roleplay going. There can also be side plots with the wives and girlfriends, I'm sure that they weren't happy with their man's criminal activities, some men would do anything to keep them hushed up, abuse? even bribing their own wife would be a possibility...
Swearing is allowed.
Be realistic - no stupid things that would not happen in a realistic setting, I'm sure a man would not get shot in the chest and get back up again. :P
If you would like to kill off your character you can do so, and you are more that welcome to join as another. If you wish to leave please write out your character! You can make up to three characters.
