Introduction
“To all the homeless, hated, rejected and scorned;
There is a place in this world for you. You may not feel like it but there is. It’s called ‘The Garage’. You’ll be accepted here. This is a home for the kids of yesterday. The ones who have been given up far too soon and the ones who have nothing left to give. Consider us a brotherhood, a pack, a clan or a band. We stick together, we’ve got each other’s backs, and we’ll give you everything we’ve got. We'll give you everything we can. We’re your family now and I promise, we will all protect you.”
They may be the drunk, sick, reckless and poor- but despite this, they’re a force to be reckoned with.
Overnight however, everything was turned upside down. One of The Garage's permanent residents- one of the thirteen who have nowhere else to go- didn't come home. That was nothing new-after all, they were a house of junkies and drunkards. However, they never came home. After a week, they were reported missing by the rest of the group. The police didn't listen at first, but after some insistence by the group, the police agreed to start a search.
After two months, they were found. Dead. Shot in the chest, several times. It was no overdose, as the police had originally suspected. They suspected a drug deal gone wrong, but opened an investigation nonetheless.
Later that month, the day of the seasonal ‘Celebration of Drugs, Alcohol and Secrets’ came around. It was a night when all of the Garage's residents, came together to share their secrets and offer what support they could. The usual secrets were shared- an affair, a new addiction, a crush, sexuality problems, family problems... But then, one of the twelve revealed a secret that changed all of their lives.
A secret bigger than anyone else's. Because they knew who had killed Joey Barnes- the old resident of the Garage.
Joey was one of the people it was hard not to love. Like all of the residents of The Garage, he was far from perfect. But he had a good heart, and he always, always looked after the new kids in The Garage, the ones who had ran away or who had been kicked out. The rest of the Garage was furious about his murder. They'd all received various pieces of advice throughout their life, but there was one they all shared.
An eye for an eye is always fair.
Angered by Joey's death, the remaining twelve make a pact on that night. They will avenge Joey's death. They will keep the police off of their backs. They will kill whoever killed Joey.
But when their secrets are destroying themselves already... Do they have any chance of pulling this off? Or will their secrets catch up with them and destroy themselves and everyone they love?
