We didn't usually think of the war. Other things captivate a teenage girl's mind, like what to wear to Mary Beth's party, who's Denton Katterdale's taking to the dance, how to dance and what blouse will throw a boy off his feet. That was of course, until it all became so real, so horrid. When they started rounding up the Jew's and the bombings began. That's when suddenly keeping under the radar was key and there was one thing on my mind, and my friends mind's and that was leaving, to a safer place.

We meant in secret, in abandon building's and forgotten places, where we were certain we were safe to discuss anything we so desired and that's were the subject of leaving came from. I sat, nervous as heck as they talked, adding little worried questions which they calmly answered. After months of this I got to thinking, maybe it was an alright idea, I mean how bad could it really go. We eventually settled on doing it, and chose to meet outside the city at midnight then to slip on a train if could, then to arrive at the next city until we smuggled are way out of the country. It sounded rather simple, but hard, and little did we know, it was to be even harder than anyone could imagine.
