"Hm, I suppose I could only expect it considering Gabe's history with the current leader. I do suppose the opportunity was appealing to him for a lot more than just political reasons. I take it that you're Dakota. I can't say I envy your position at the moment."
Oren stepped back against the nearby wall, leaning on it as she was having a bit of trouble remaining standing.
"D-different...hah...what a load of bullshit..." she snarled.

"Yeah, I'm Dakota" he said, crossing his arms over his chest "I take it you've heard of me." What an uncomforting idea. He'd never been a very important person. He'd been a delegate sure, with some solid connections, like Midnight for instance, but he himself had never been important. Not the kind of person people knew about before they even met. But now that he was with Midnight, the leader of the delegates, he supposed it was only natural that word had begun to spread of this. That idea unsettled him.
He snorted when Nero said he didn't envy Koda's position. "I'll never understand why anybody would" he said. Many people thought that Koda had it made. He was the lover of one of the most powerful and influential women in the world. He could have anything he wanted. He could go anywhere, buy anything, boss around anyone and get away with it. Not to mention he didn't have any real responsibilities. He wasn't Midnight's co-ruler, just her mate.
All that was great he guessed, but he could do without that stuff as long as he had Midnight. The problem with Midnight being ruler was that she had all sorts of responsibilities, like producing an heir. And now her and Koda both had to deal with all the influential guys who wanted to fuck Midnight. That was the part Koda assumed Nero was referring to; the dealing with suitors. It really was a pain in the ass, especially with Gabe as a candidate, but Koda was dealing.
"So would you like to see Midnight?" he asked "She's entertaining at the moment but if you want to see her ....."

"So yes, we know all about you. Anyway, I wouldn't want to trouble Midnight if she's busy. I'm sure she has an awful lot of things to attend to as it stands. We'd be interested to speak with her when she can spare the time however." he replied.
Oren leaned against the wall, rather out of breath, arms folded rather tightly and looking sullenly from Nero to Koda. She toyed with the idea of trying to slick off, but doubted that was going to happen...not with Nero's cronies waiting round. They'd just jump at the chance to go after her.

Midnight stood next to Koda, secretly her hand traveled up and down his back in a loving way out of sight from prying eyes. She had really missed him the last few days and she was starting to go insane not getting a chance to be alone with him without him being hammered or someone interrupting. She kept her eyes on Oren and Nero a sweet smile not leaving her face. "I assume you will be staying for a little while? I can get rooms made up for your group, there is a fabulous dinner in the kitchen, good wine on the racks, plenty of blood in the fridge. Whatever you need to make your stay more comfortable. I would prefer that we have the chance to talk alone, however I would appreciate it if we could put it off for a little bit. It will give you a chance to get settled. I am planning on having a meeting in the morning sound agreeable?"

"And thank you for your kind offer, I'm sure you must be very busy at the moment and I wouldn't want to keep you longer than necessary, so by all means send for me when it suits you. Being immortal does tend to bring the virtue of patience. We can wait until you're ready."
Oren lifted her head a fraction, eyes setting on Midnight.
"Midnight." she replied scratchily , nodding slightly in acknowledgement.
"I'm fine where I am." she added, turning her gaze back down again. She was certainly acting very strangely, and there was none of her usual self-confidence. Her body language was defensive and she'd abandoned her usual snarky acerbic tone.

"Now if you'll excuse us ...." he trailed off, taking Midnight's hand and slowly leading her down the hall, once he could no longer hear their breathing and was sure they couldn't hear his voice he said "We need to keep an eye on them" he told her quietly. When he reached his door he went inside, locking the door behind them. "But we'll worry about that later" he said, kissing her briefly. "You and I haven't been spending enough time alone together lately after all" he purred lowly, nuzzling her neck and pausing to kiss it in between words. "And I think that that is a more pressing matter."

Midnight nodded at Koda's comment about the new arrivals. "Tell me about it Oren looks so off. Normally she is so on her game and now she looks like she was hit by a truck. Suspicious if you ask me." She grinned as she was led to Koda's room. She didn't worry so much about sleeping with him at this point, she was still getting her shot. High dose or hormones that prevented her from getting preggers for the last few hundred years. She wasn't going to get pregnant from sleeping with Koda. She was a little concerned what would happen when she did get pregnant, not only would it be super weird to sleep with Koda while she was pregnant with some other guys kid but whoever the guy was may be watching her like a hawk to make sure she wasn't doing anything reckless. And she didn't know if her sleeping with Koda was going to fall into that reckless category, she knew it would for Gabe which was making her slightly rethinking accepting his terms. Midnight sighed wrapping her arms around Koda. What a stressful week it had been and she could imagine it was just as bad for Koda if not worse.
Midnight trailed her fingers up and down his back a small smile crossing her lips. "I love you, you know that?" She kissed his neck gently biting at the flesh. "A lot." She smiled against his skin licking him teasingly. "And I miss you. And your just simply the best."

She dropped down on the bed, landing with a brief grimace and pulling over onto on her side, the position that was the least painful to lie on, her arms hanging loose at her side and her knees drawn partially inwards. She supposed she should try and get some sleep, but old habits died hard and her exhaustion was engaged in a running battle with her paranoia of leaving herself exposed.
She gazed out of the window, her thoughts turning to Springside and the clan she left behind, something she considered with a great deal of regret. Her thoughts also turned to Ace..and the fact that she'd been out of contact with him for some time. She felt rather guilty about that as well...not that she really had any choice in the matter of course. That bastard still had her phone. She kinda missed him...in fact she kinda missed the Springside clan. Yes, they had been gradually driving her insane...but she had at least had some sort of back-up there.
