The year was 2352. Humanity had reached new pinnacles of success. Life has never been easier, and there has never been a greater peace. Technology has reached unheard of levels, and the latest interstellar exploratory ship was about to be launched. It seems that we as humans could go no higher, that we would know no obstacle that united as we were could not overcome. It was heaven.
Until the Cataclysm.
The year is now 2353. Not quite one year after the gates started opening up. It happened during the launch of the Michael. Five massive gates opened across the world, one over each capital of the districts. They unleashed nightmares, millions upon millions of horrifying creatures everyone's come to call demons. We don't know what they are, nor do we very much care. All we need to know, is their hunting us down, exterminating us. Xenocide.
We are the last that are left. dozens small hives, all total maybe a couple thousand people, maybe less. I don't know. All I care about is the survival of the human race, however far we've fallen from humanity. I've been rallying people to the cause, we're finally mobilizing again to take the fight to them. Enough is enough. This is the moment of truth.
My name is Kaida. And these are my last words to be recorded, one way or another. See you on the other side.
-----END OF LOG. WOULD YOU LIKE TO VIEW ANOTHER?
The situation is as the back story above has said. A malevolent race of otherworldly beings opened a gate to our world, the planet once known as earth. They vary wildly in shape and form, but all are dedicated to the destruction of mankind as a whole. They are lead by five leadership caste creatures, known commonly as Knightmares. These generals are vastly powerful, but they are also the salvation of mankind. For they are the key to the original gates. Killing them would eradicate their gate and all the smaller ones that opened after the Cataclysm.
This is a world gone horribly wrong, with energies bleeding out of the gates to cause mass mutation, sickness, and general chaos. It twists the laws of reality, slowly morphing the world to the demons' liking. But it has given humanity a weapon, the ability to harness this energy through mutation. These powers are known as Runes.
But this was an age where the machine ruled. Artifacts of war remain, ranging from propellant-based slugthrowers to highly advanced particle weapons. Humans are not without the resources to utilize these tools, but it must be done so wisely. To waste these precious tools is suicide, for they are the one thing the demons have no resistance to. Technology is their bane.
It is time for mankind's greatest stand. Are you up to the challenge?
Rules
1. Literacy is required. If you are unable to write with correct grammar and spelling, this is not the place for you.
2. Though I control the Horde, this is a character driven RP. Activity is a must, I'd like to see at least two posts a week.
3. No god-modding or auto-actions/hits are allowed without EXPRESS permission of the party or parties involved. You will receive one warning, and then your character's life is forfeit.
4. Cursing is allowed, but keep it respectable. Blatant, useless curses will not be tolerated.
5. Respect your fellow RPers. If you don't like the way they do things, talk about it. If need be, find a moderator.
6. Have fun!
Guidelines
1. To avoid cluttering up the RP with battle, take your battles to chat on an arranged time between parties. Maintain logs, as you will be expected to post an overview synopsis of the combat.
2. If a battle involves more than 4 people however, inform me and an exception will be made to the first rule.
3. Romance is allowed, encouraged even, but remember this is war. I want it PG-13 level, and don't go overboard with it.
4. Again, have fun.
A profile guide can be found under the Characters tab, look for the Character Skeleton.
More information will be added to this page as we get characters. Keep an eye out for updates!
Classes of Demon
Ferals are lightweight, thin demons. These are possessed of ripping talons on their forelegs, their rear generally very long for the high speed sprints that are their signifying trademark. Capable of flinging spines that line their tails, they rely on getting close to a foe quickly before dispatching them with rapid, unrelenting strikes that rarely allow time to counter their assault. Vaguely raptor-like in appearance, the are known for their keening war call and constant hissing when at rest.
Behemoths boast their immense size and power with earth-shaking roars. A rare breed, these immense monstrosities are slow and cumbersome, but strong enough to shatter small buildings with their blows. Appearing as hairless, gargantuan apes, they possess rock-hard flesh and a horrific endurance, capable of losing most of their body and continuing to rampage.
Hunters claim the sky, squid-like horrors that hover along by some unknown means. Armed with dozens of hooked tendrils, their true strength lies in the mysterious Rune lightning they can unleash from their many eyes. Death comes on swift wings, for those foolish enough to be discovered by the creatures that swim above among the clouds.

Re: [OOC] The Right to Live.
In any case, all characters have been accepted thus far, those who I addressed for alterations in their profiles should post whether or not they have done so. If you have not yet followed my requests, please do so and make clear that you did.
All in all though, the characters look good. A reminder and request, if you would PLEASE tell any friends you have about it, put feelers out for interest and the like, that would be appreciated. I'd hate for this all to die on me from lack of players and interest, and I'm sure you would all too. ;)
That's all for now, folks.

Re: [OOC] The Right to Live.
As to the question you would be correct. The military was the first to break up, being the first to engage the demon hordes.
As to your district, everyone isn't likely to solely begin in District 1. If you begun to set up the resistance in another district, should the survivors of another district succeed, they could move on to yours to find the situation already well advanced and make for an easy wrap up to that next district. But the decision is entirely up to you.
Hope I answered all questions to satisfaction, we're just looking for some more people before we can get the ball rolling.
Re: [OOC] The Right to Live.
Further editing questions: was I right to assume the Military was mostly obliterated? I figured sense there is so little of humanity left the soldiers would have been the first to go, but if not I will gladly change it. Also I mentioned what district my character was in, but that can change at any time depending where you want to go with this. Thanks for the feedback and I look forward to the story.
Re: [OOC] The Right to Live.
Just one little nitpick, could you move the ability he gained by the energy to the equipment section? That fits under the Rune category of powers.
Re: [OOC] The Right to Live.
For the first, mutations are both beneficial and detrimental. There is always a give and take to them, for example someone who's mutated to have rending claws essentially loses the ability to use conventional weaponry. After all, how do you hold a sword or gun when your fingers are reptilian talons? For anyone who has mutated to use Runes, the instant detriment to that is it saps at their physical stamina. The greater the Rune power, the greater the drain. In any other way, feel free to use your creativity, but remember to include a drawback to it that fits the mutation.
To your second question, the pockets of humanity are indeed right under the demons' noses. Underground caverns, sewers, places that would be overlooked by casual foraging and searches. Some are in plain sight, like the top floor of a ruined building, others are very clever, hidden within miles of the underground tunnels. Just remember what district your in (There are 5, read the descriptions) and you'll be fine.
And finally, to your third, the demons are naturally evil. Its sort of takeover thing, they came to Sol purely to reap the bloody harvest and create a new world for themselves. Live or die, its extermination.
Hope that answers your questions, and as a side note I will be working on the general demon classes that you'll be encountering in the RP. After that, I'll bring up the Knightmares.
Re: [OOC] The Right to Live.
1)You mentioned that the energy has caused sickness and mutations. Are these good "I can run super fast/heal/quicker than lightening agility" or bad "cancer/physical disability" mutations?
2) I'm not sure of the exact words you used, but you said something along the lines of humans having small pockets left to live in. Are these pockets right under the demon's noses (like in sewers or in the abandoned part of the city) or some far off place that demons can't be bothered caring about (like the middle of the rain forest or top of some sparse mountain)?
3) Purely for my own curiosity, as it would have no impact on my character or her/his part in the story, but are the demons just plain evil, or are they misguided by a superior "Demon King"?
