Weapons: As years spent as a gladiator slave, Gannicus was trained under a litany of various weaponry and their respective forms , although his preferred weapon of choice are two-handed greatswords which he keeps mounted with sheath affixed to back. His preference for the greatsword is largely due to its versatility as both being able to cut and thrust efficiently, its range and of course its visual appeal.
Appearance: Gannicus stands at a noteworth height of about 6'0" and weighs around 174lbs, still too big to be considered lightweight and too small to be considered heavyweight, he possess a good balance between both extremes, as such he was able to secure many victories in the arena. Upon his hand he bears the mark of the house in which he fought for, House stormfist as it was known. He has since then covered his hand with a tattoo to hide his actual brand, the only proof that he had been a gladiator slave, for he is a very wanted man in some parts of the land, responsible for the great slave uprising which claimed the lives of many noble men.
Personality:
Gannicus can best be described as a man of dualism, personalities which often seem at odds with eachother, in battle Gannicus proves himself a remarkable physical specimen: fearless in the arena and possessed by a thirst for the fleeting pleasures of life. His love of wine and women, coupled with his unwavering arrogance, is unmatched by any of the other gladiators. However outside the confines of battle, he is the exact opposite in terms of personality. He seems introspective and thoughtful, when addressing superiors or new recruits he is always courteous, humble and is the type to give the very shirt off his back to those in need, a natural protector and mentor. Hardly giving the impression that he is a hardened mercenary, but in fact a teacher. He's very much an enthusiast of black smithing and seems to possess a near textbook knowledge of metalurgy despite not being formerly educated. Gannicus is in the process of learning the ways of business so that he may open his very own forge at some point.
Despite his time spent abroad, Gannicus cannot take his drink and often ends up passing out or becoming drunk after very little alcohol is consumed. Gannicus decides to avoid drinking if it is possible as he has become aware of this after a number of embarassing incidents.
Opinion on War: He isn't quite familiar with the politics of Fasdal although the war has benefited him in part due to his status as a mercenary, he has both strong feelings in support and in opposition of the war. If the war spills onto Fasdal, he has decided that he will take up arms to defend the city.
History: Gannicus was born and bred as a Gladiator in Stormfist, he suffered much mistreatment and managed to escape Stormfist by revolt and made his way to the country of Kanakan in the North East. He was tutored in the way of the sword by the renowned sword master Rolundier Haia, after finishing the training he earned the right to hold the honor of being master haia's number 1# pupil , not for his talent, but because of his passion and that Haia thought he was most level headed amongst his students. His parting gift from Master Haia was a specially forged sword, a set of hard leather cloth armor worn by only true masters of the falcon fencing school and a book which contained the forbidden secrets of Master Haia's falcon swordsmanship style.
Not long after, Gannicus set back into the world, using his newfound talents to aid people. To support himself he entered local tournaments and honed himself back in the fires of the arena, not as a slave but as a voluntarily participant. He would eventually find himself settling in fasdal of all places. Seeing and testing his abilities firsthand at a tournament, the master of the mercenary guild in Fasdal was thoroughly impressed with his ability and invited him to serve as one of the higher ranking members within the guild. The leader of the mercenary guild recognizes his worth and as such Gannicus has opened up regarding his status as a former gladiator and fugitive. While only serving in the mercenary guild for a short amount of time, he is well liked amongst his peers.
